NikiRandom
I'm, getting a CTD when I try to save. Net Framework crashlog starts with "TESLevItem(FormId: 0403A247, File: `SkyRem - Lora.esp <- Dragonborn.esm" every time. A bit of googling, I've found a couple of people getting the same Form ID mentioned in crashlogs, which I gather is a levellled list (not item) which belongs to Dragonborn DLC. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with SkyRem Lora. What really confuses me is that if I go back say, half a dozen saves, to a point where the game was apparently fine, then I'll still get a CTD when trying to save from that point. I don't understand the logic of this at all.I first got this issue in/around Faldar's Tooth and had to go back many saves before I found a point from where I could play on. I then played through Faldar's Tooth no problem. Just arrived in Riften now and getting the same CTD in the market place. Going back to a save before I entered Riften doesn't seem to be helping at all.I guess I'll just go back until I find a point where things work, but I'd welcome any ideas/suggestions. I'm only level 18 so it's going to be really annoying if this problem keeps recurring and forcing me to replay long sections of the game. Helmsmasher
If this is happening on older saves as well then it's not something to do with your saves, it's one of the mods you installed recently. Here's a tip: don't install mods mid-save. Install mods, then when you are content start your playthrough. Don't add or remove anything until you are done with the playthrough. Having learned that one the hard way : -) Haven't even updated any of them. Problem fixed for now though. I ran Resaver and did Player.Kill and that seems to have sorted it for now. Confusingly again, as the same procedure didn't help at all when I was at Faldar's Tooth. Resaver picked up just a couple of orphan scripts, I don't know what they originally belonged to but touch wood the game seems good for now. Thanks for the reply anyway : -) (I have been getting a few issues with my game freezing so that I've needed to alt-tab to quit and reload the game. I did wonder if that might have corrupted something somewhere, but all seems ok for now anyway) Edited April 22, 2021 by NikiRandom
NikiRandom
Grrrrr spoke to soon. Had a break, came here and posted my reply, then on reloading the game I can't save again. Same crash log.Sigh. Edited April 22, 2021 by NikiRandom
Helmsmasher
If you load the save with an empty modlist, does it still crash on save?
NikiRandom
If you load the save with an empty modlist, does it still crash on save?Interesting thought, it hadn't occurred to me to try that. My modlist is around 500, so wouldn't loading my save without any of those just destroy the savegame anyway? Seems Ok again for now anyway. Went back about ten saves and replayed the same bits again. I'm starting to suspect it might be an issue with followers and their inventories but need to test more to find out.
Helmsmasher
Well sure the save would be a right mess, you wouldn't be overwriting your old saves, just testing to see if it is mod related or whether it's the savegame that is botched. It could be a certain combination of mod scripts, events or entities in a specific moment causing a crash. I don't get how a save can go fubar but then if I rewind a few saves and play through the same bit again, it's ok. If I find the same issue persisting later in the game I might have to resort to something like your suggestion, just to finish the game. Something I've never managed in years of playing it; the game has invariably broken at some point causing me to start over. Before though, I've tried to mend it by removing suspect mods, which has generally just ended up making things worse of course : -) This time I'm taking the approach of nursing the game through the bits where it goes wobbly and leaving my modlist alone, aside from tweaking or disabling them in the MCM. NikiRandom
There's a fairly definite pattern I'm noticing as well ... I can play for ages and save loads and everything seems fine, but if I exit the game and reload from my desktop, then I can no longer save without a CTD. And the saves from my previous session seem to be broken too.
