NonchalantShallot
So I've been having some issues with grass clipping through the porches of houses and I decided to google first. I did get some answers on it and they talk about texture painting with the sculpting tool by pressing H and right clicking, which I'm actually pretty familiar with anyway. The problem is, When I select a texture containing "NoGrass" in the name and attempt to paint with it to remove said grass, it doesn't remove it. In fact it doesn't seem like it does anything. The creation kit stutters slightly after letting go of the right mouse button as if it's trying to render something, but nothing has been changed. Am I missing something important to be able to remove grass?
agerweb
The painting tool is a bit flaky when when your painting out grass with a small circle. Try using a 2 or 3 size with nograss to cover more than you need and paint back in with a 1. Also make sure the painting circle is actually visible when you painting (it can disappear particularly across cell boundaries, if it disappears f5 to refresh screen). senterpat
Yeah editing vanilla landscapes can be a bit hard if they are painted with grass, when I add to exterior cells I usually raise the ground up a bit where I'm building, the ground moves but the painted grass stays I believe. I don't know the scale of your project, but that's the only way I've been able to prevent grass clipping. I could be wrong, it's been well over a year since I messed with landscapes and could be misremembering. Another alternative is to apply the matching landscape texture to some cave balcony statics or something similar and place that over the grass and build on that. Things must have changed since then, unfortunately. Any terrain editing results in the grass immediately updating to match it.It's fine, though. I suppose I'll just have to figure something else out. As for the scale... well you'll see soon enough >:
