Show race menu character name problem

I tried using Show Race Menu to update my character's hair (while using the cache clearing mod) and all works well until I come to saving and leaving the menu. I am asked to name and save my character but I can only type in four letters of the name before the name box whips away and the save is made. So delicate and dynamic "Arsefaria" becomes...er..."Arse". (Just kidding but it shows the problem)

 

I had a look to see if anyone else has suffered this but could not see anything quickly. Might anyone know what is happening and how I can get around this? I'm trying XP32's new (and awesome) Havok hair, but preferably not at the loss of my character's full name.

Are you using any character editor mods? I'm using Enhanced Character Editor I tried a different one (can't find it right now) and noticed a button that changed the amount of spaces the name can be and showed the sample as boxes. If your using something other then the one I linked, I'd recommend uninstall it (not delete, just in case this doesn't work) and install the one i linked.

Thanks Vandelscrow! No I am not using any character edit mods, though it is possible another mod might be influencing it. Thank you for your suggestion, I will give that a go! The shortened name has been giving me grief!
