"I'm going to start putting this in all my stickys. THERE IS A DONATE BUTTON AT THE TOP RIGHT OF THE PAGE, so many people don't see it and ask all the time on forums PM's to various MA's, so if you want to donate to me or your fav MA check there first, and thanks."

Donations

In March of 2012 a donations system was added to Nexus Mods that allows users to specify a Pay Pal address to accept voluntary donations through. Included in this system are two locations where users can donate to your account from; your profile and your mod pages.

 

Donations are classed as completely voluntary monetary transactions that yield no gain for the donator. That means that donations should only ever be offered as a way of thanking other users and never in exchange for services, support or perks on the site or with files. Users are not allowed in any way, shape, or form to offer their files, services or support to other users in exchange for donations on the Nexus. If people are found in breach of this then you can expect to be banned.

 

We have a 100% no solicitation rule in regards to donations. This means that you cannot request users donate to you anywhere on the site including on your profile, in your file or image descriptions, in your file readme, via images, forum comments or private messages other than by selecting from the already existing donation options in your preferences area on Nexus sites. If you are caught asking for donations anywhere on the site you are likely to receive a warning or an outright ban depending on the severity of the breach of rules.

 

Do not ever ask for donations. While we permit file authors to receive Donations, we do not allow users to actively solicit financial contributions of any kind. See the Donations section for our donation policies.

This ban has been rescinded.

 

Our rules on asking/mentioning donations are changing in the next couple of months with the site redesign, and while this sends the wrong message in terms of "hey, you can all mention the donation button now" (we still don't want it mentioned for now, until the rule change) banning for this is a bit weak. We'll continue to send messages to mod authors who fall foul of our rules.

If people really need to be told why this ban happened; anyone who knows Darren on these sites knows he's kind of on his last, last...last warning. He's had quite a few, above and beyond pretty much any member on the sites. Thankfully, he's been a lot better these past months (seriously, banning him from the mod author forums was the best thing everrrrrrrr), keeping his nefarious (ahem) activities off the Nexus and trying to stay above board on the Nexus. It's a knife edge situation.
