I recently reached the 255/256 mod limit. I've since reduced my mod count down to around 100, but i was wondering what i can do to avoid this in the future. I heard there's a way to merge multiple mods into one so it only counts as one .esp, but i'm unsure how to do that. (I use the NMM mostly with a bit of Steam Workshop).

P.S. Please forgive me if there's already a thread on this topic, but i dont have time at the moment to look for one.

I use this. It runs through TESVEdit. There is a link to a standalone utility on that page.

Certain mods can't be combined, but I effectively have over 350 mods running in my game.

read the documentation as it is VERY important but yeah, this can be the best friend you ever had.  Works for multiple games.

edit:  I got ninja'd here a bit but I think (dont quote me) my version might be the more recent?
