Certain world objects present ingame, but not in the geck

There's a bulkhead in the sewers that would fit really well on a spaceship. I want to access it in the geck, but I couldn't find a name on it so I looked up the form ID and it doesn't seem to present... I have used the "Busemultibounds=1/0" and it doesn't seem to work for this particular thing.

But then I noticed that pretty much every scenery object in the sewers has the same issue, and I'm guessing it's the same in other cells as well... I want to use those pipes as well, and I know I'll want to use other unique world objects like the pillars in the middle of the rooms in there but I can't access them in the geck.

I'm really just looking for a way I can change some settings to make those objects available for use, or, if not, I want to know if I can create my own item by finding the texture and physical mapping(or whatever it's called) from the original file somewhere the game data folder.

You are saying you cannot find a specific object in the object tree with geck open ?

You may need to open the loose folders and drag drop said object into the object tree with the geck open , and on the part of the tree where you want it located for the active file.

If it is a vanilla item , it may just not be where your intuition would think it was.

Which I have found many items from just making a dummy cell to drag drop items out of the tree into the render window. Then it's like ... ahhh ya ... that's where that was.

But for clarity , what and where in game is the item you are looking for ?

Thank you for replying, first of all.

I am looking for an object in the object trees, yes. But how I did it was, I clicked the item in the actual game while the console was open, which gave me it's form ID (I think), then sifted through the "*All" tree while it was sorted by form ID, and I couldn't seem to find that particular one.

The particular item that interested me and started this whole deal is a valve found in the south sewers that juts out of the wall, fixed to a dome-shaped, um... "Thing." The ID the console gave me was "0016a0cb."

Also, I just realized I'm an uber idiot and didn't visit the cell in the geck, which I could have done to find the exact object it is. I'll do that now.

Glad you found it. But to explain ....

The form ID you found in game , is a reference ID. Which is not found in the object tree , just in the render window. So like you said , would need to open the cell and find it in the render window. Which then you could find what it's base ID is from there. And then find that in the object tree.

But there is another way to find it ... by going to "Edit / Find Text " from the header drop down menu. Paste the ID text and hit the button.

Then go to the objects tab .... and it would show you the base object and cell it is in.

Hope that helps for future searching.

That's tedious and unnecessary. All you need to do is load up FNVEdit, type in the formid of that reference, and it will display all the information about it, including the base object.

LOL what ?

Not that I am trying to diminish FNVEdit usefulness.

But to say using the "Edit/Find Text" is more tedious ... is not true.

In fact it would be less work. Because the Geck object tree is where you need find it to drop into the render window. So then opening another program to do that , then becomes more steps. Maybe you just misunderstood ?
