Papyrus not logging

hi all

getting a few CTDs and freezes. however papyrus isn't logging anything. i have the proper text in my Skyrim.ini, however no logs are generated upon CTD. help?

The papyrus log is not a crash log. It is rarely useful in identifying the cause of a crash.

Post your:

BOSS log text file (copy/paste include messages and enclose in spoilers)--if you don't have BOSS get it and use it before doing anything else. That could solve your problem.

Other mod-related info (do you use NMM? Skse, ENBs, etc)

Game specs (Game version, settings, any changes you have made to your ini files and/or graphics driver game profile)

Computer specs (CPU, RAM Graphics Card, VRAM, driver update. Are you using any other programs like Riva Tuner, NVidia Inspector, Gamebooster, that affect the game directly?)

More info about your problem:

Are the crashes related to a specific place, activity, time-related, etc?

Do you freeze just before the crash, or are they a seperate issue? Are the freezes recoverable or must you quit the game?

What have you done already to attempt to fix the problem?

What did you change before the problem started?

out and about right now, but holy smokes, thanks for the response. should be able to throw all this info up either late tonight or earlier tomorrow. thanks sir/ma'am.

preliminary info:

have BOSS. use in tandem with Wrye Bash. i live and die by those two programs. always make sure the patches are rebuilt even if they say they don't need to be.
using SKSE and a heap of mods (i realize this isn't a mod troubleshooting board, however i was just looking for help as to why papyrus wasn't logging anything, so if i stray from the limits of this board, my apologies)
also run skyrimFPSboost in tandem with the main game. tried other power loaders before (ATTK, skyboost, etc.) but this one seems to actually help. save for recent behavior.
the crashed happened usually when i was entering a main city (whiterun, solitude, markarth, etc; any city that loads as a separate gamespace. i uninstalled and deleted any mod that affected all cities (can't think of them all right now, but i'll get a list). problem persisted. though i just had my first overworld ctd. thus me posting this.
have frozen before, but never before a ctd. freezes happen infrequelntly, but consistently, usually when i near a battle provided by Immersive Patrols. (99% certain that has caused the freeze). but i like it overall and it was so infrequent that i just lived with it.

all i can think of now, but thanks again for such an in-depth response. i've tried to get tech support on here before but was met with only silence. so i really appreciate it.

Make sure you have this in Skyrim.ini:

bEnableTrace=1
bLoadDebugInformation=1
bEnableProfiling = 0
uTraceStatusOfQuest = 0

Your log will be found here:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Logs\Script\Papyrus0.log

Always open the log with Wordpad, not Notepad.

PS. anyone know why the Nexus editor screws up our post formatting sometimes? Really annoying!

If you decide to enable the papyrus log, you will want to disable it when you are through, it uses a lot of resources that can slow down your game.

I use wrye bash for everything. and i'm running STEP 2.2.5 (a mix of performance and baseline; i.e. about 80% step stuff, and a glamor mod here or there). i use SKSE and keep that uptodate. i use some high res textures (as you can see) however i've run everything (save for cloaks and hair) through the texture optimizer and got everything down to 1024x1024. my machine's alright, but not a super computer.
