  1. I've seen some sites (I think Wikipedia was one) where, if you wanted to donate, you could do so through Amazon's payment system. I thought this was a really good idea, because I don't like giving credit card info to many different sites. I don't trust PayPal after I had a hacked account with them and the awful customer support they offered. Amazon seems a bit more professional. Is there any chance we could donate through Amazon instead of Paypal?
  2. I'd be happy to contribute more funds, but I'm not comfortable giving financial data to that many online places. I've seen some sites allow you to contribute through Amazon. I thought that was a really good idea. Would such a thing be possible?
  3. I can't get Mjoll to offer the conversation choice that say 'Follow me.'. At first, I couldn't get her to offer the Grimsever quest, so I tried to use the console to set her friendliness to a higher level. I had the effect I wanted, but still no quest. So I went and did a bunch of minor Riften quests to try to improve my standing with the town as a whole, but that didn't do anything either. Eventually I leveled, and once that happened, she offered me the Grimsever quest. So, I completed the quest, gave her the sword, and she said all the right things that would indicate that she's happy to join me, but the conversation choice isn't there. So I tried the following... setrelationshiprank player 3 addtofaction 5c84d 3 ...which should have forced the correct dialogue choice, but nope, still nothing. So I married her. Still nothing. I tried to kill/resurrect her I tried to disable/enable her I tried resetAI Nothing. Suggestions?
  4. I'm just wondering what the modding community's thoughts are regarding the possibility of making Skyrim's combat more like Dark Souls'. Dark Souls' combat, IMO at least, is superior to Skyrim's. Here are a few key differences that make it so: - Lock-on: In Dark Souls, you can lock onto your target. This forces your avatar to always face your target. You can move towards and away from the target, and you can circle them, but you can't move diagonally at them. Just forcing a square-on facing makes things feel more realistic - The hits really hurt: In Dark Souls, if you get hit, it usually really hurts. If you take more than 5 hits from an enemy, you're usually dead. And this is from 1H opponents. Those using 2H weapons can usually kill you in 2-3 hits. But even when I jack up the difficulty to Master in Skyrim, it usually takes 2x as many hits to die. Harder hits would lead to more blocking and more careful combat, and help move away from the skittish frenzy of dinky hits that make up most of Skyrim's battles. - Terrain collision: In Dark Souls, if you try to sweep a blade from right to left in a narrow hallway, you're weapon will hit the wall and stop your attack. This means that certain weapons work better in certain environments. In Skyrim, this doesn't happen. You can swing right through the walls. This removes a penalty of big 2H weapons (they suck in close quarters) - More kinds of weapons: Dark Souls has your standard 1H sword/axe/mace, 2H sword/axe/mace, bow, and shield, but it also has spears and halberds, and a few different types of each of them that have different kinds of special attacks - Each type of weapon has a few normal attack types and a few power attack types: In Skyrim, you have a single normal attack and a single power attack. And all that's different is the animation, the execution time, and the damage. In Dark Souls, there are sweeps, thrusts, chops, cleaves... and each has some cost and some benefit.
  5. This will likely be an ongoing list, a central repository for all the little mods and such I keep noticing the need for, but continue to not find on the Nexus. Hopefully the release of the Creation Kit will speed things along. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who's thought of these. 1) A Roman shield replacement for the current long-diamond Imperial Shield ---IN PROGRESS: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4099 2) Horses for followers 3) Faster dismount from horses ---DONE: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3145 4) More follower command options (mostly returns of Fallout commands) like: a) passive vs. aggressive b) ranged vs. melee c) stay close vs. keep distance 5) Re-skin of the female Imperial Armor to be closer to the male version. The male version has red-dyed leather, which matches the Roman theme. The female version has no red in it, just brown 6) Redesign of the run and jump animations. The walk and sprint animations seem okay, but the running and the jumping ones look bad 7) Removal of the delay in executing commands in dialogue interfaces. I'm not sure if this is a 360 controller issue or not, but I often have to push the A button several times when in dialogue menus before the game actually executes the option I've selected. 8 ) This may be related to the above, but also restore the ability to jump while sprinting. Right now, if you're sprinting, and you hit the Jump button, nothing happens. You have to stop sprinting before you can jump. 9) All followers should have the Light Step perk. 10) All trap triggers should be disarmable. Right now, you can only cut the trigger cords on booby-trapped chests and doors. You can't disarm pressure plates (stone, metal, or runic), nor can you cut tripwires without setting off the trap. You also can't disarm the pedestals that trigger traps when you remove whatever item's on top of them. 11) Return the hawks above the Blue Palace to killable. You used to be able to kill them, and get Alchemy ingredients from them, but a patch or two ago they became essential and now the arrows you shoot into them just hang in the space around them as they keep flying around. 12) All weapons, even the uniques, should be upgradable through smithing. And their damage capacity should match that of base weapons from their upgrade material. For example, you can't upgrade the Ebony Blade, or Wuurthrad, or Ysmir's Shield, but you can upgrade the Blade of Woe, Nettlebane, and other uniques. Also, Dawnstar is upgradable, and it requires Ebony Ingots to upgrade, but it's damage is ~ 2/3 of a normal upgraded Ebony Sword. 13) Blessings shouldn't wear off. --- DONE: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4101 14) You should be able to dress and equip your companions any way you want. This requires being able to see ALL of their equipment in their inventory. For now the workaround is to use the console to increases a follower's CarryWeight. At least then their default gear doesn't waste their ability to carry stuff for you. 15) Your companion should level up with you. It looks like this is a bug. There's a console code workaround, but a patch/mod would be better. 16) The commanders of the Stormcloud and Imperial camps should be killable, especially if you've already sided with one faction, you should be able to kill everyone in the camp of the other. 17) Fix the bug where companions will only use their default Hunting Bow if they ever get any arrows in their inventory better than Iron arrows.
  6. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, I think it would be awesome if the default Imperial Shield design (a relatively short, bottom-heavy diamond shape) was replaced with the Roman scutum http://www.getdressedforbattle.co.uk/acatalog/mw624.jpg
  7. I think it would be a good idea to make it so that your humanoid companion can either ride on your horse with you OR have their own horse. The second option would be more expensive for the player, since you'd have to buy 2 horses instead of 1, but horses aren't that expensive and I think 1 person per horse may be easier to code and look cooler too.
  8. I found a place to buy a war dog companion, but it was 500, which is the standard price for human companions. I didn't buy it because I was worried that the dog would displace my human companion. Do you know if this is the case? Can you have a war dog AND a humanoid companion at the same time?
  9. There's a mod out there that makes Jerry look less like an ogre... http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/comment/9/2011/09/3a8797626b2d4e41a5dcd0160bd63842/original.jpg ...and more like a handsome fellow... http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/comment/9/2011/09/4f282bcb8c5e93ba1aa25b0522c1f85a/original.jpg Can someone tell me which mod the second image is from?
  10. I get a similar error to the one MacMallian mentioned. I start NV with the Fallout Mod Manager, and it's Launch NVSE button. Whenever I click that, two error messages (one in a DOS window, another in a normal Windows text box) appear. Both say... "You have an unknown version of Fallout. Please check http://nvse.silverlock.org to make sure you're using the latest version of NVSE. (version = 000100020000013A)" When I go to the silverlock website, there's a line that says "NVSE will support the latest version of Fallout available on Steam, and _only_ this version (currently 1.2.0.314). When a new version [of Fallout: New Vegas] is released, we will update [NVSE] as soon as possible; please be patient. So, since FONV was recently updated to a newer version, it's no longer compatible with the currently-available version of NVSE. I guess all we can do is continue to check the silverlock website and hope an updated version of NVSE comes out soon. OOPS!!! I just installed the files currently on the silverlock website, and even though they had the same version numbers as the ones I already had, it solved the problem.
