  1. xEdit has been used for modding Bethesda games since Morrowind if not earlier and gets used even after the tools are out. Not all mods require the construction set or the geck. Since we can't mess with scripts really until the tools are out, there is very little to worry about. At least, that's my general take on it. I'd worry more about console commands and snip mods.
  2. For some reason I can not successfully edit a comment or reply in mods comment sections or bug report sections. When submit is pushed on an edit, it does nothing. It has been this way for the past few days. Wanted to give a heads up as this is causing problems for others as well and will definitely clutter up these areas rather fast with forced double posts.
  3. NMM is still very beta. Expect odd little issues while they iron out the kinks. This is why I'm sticking with manual for now and doing many backups of saves and base files. The mod NewDialog is another that does strings, however your issue isn't with the mod, it's with a kink in the mod manager.
  4. I'm glad you're speaking to a moderator about it. These types of things shouldn't ever be let go. Good people being nice, is how a ton of things end up rampant and unchecked. Theft is theft, intentional or not. They need to at least get permission ahead of time and give credit for the base texture being yours.
  5. It's not in poor taste at all. I advise you to do it. I also advise mod authors to add a readme to their rar archives telling people to only use copies of the mod downloaded from nexusmods. Unaware people could easily be getting not only stolen intellectual content but also malicious code added to the original packages.
  6. It's an interesting concept. Sounds like you're asking for a house 'schematic' mod/utility. But it would also save the schematic to a file, not just give you an in game version of it. It would also open the door for us to create new prefabs for our games and not have to keep redoing it all piece by piece.
  7. What I love about the game? The exploration factor is really great. The world is very well done and encourages wandering off the beaten path. The creative aspect of making your own towns is just great. I spend hours on end trying to pretty things up.Combat has been greatly improved. VATS is still an effective tool, but real time is much more functional and fun than in previous games. While they do encourage you to do the main quest, I'm 120 hours in and haven't even been to Diamond City yet. Side quests, exploration and city building has kept me fully occupied. The new power armor makes more sense to me than previous games, although I do wish we could craft our own armor, weapons, and ammo from scratch as well. While no game is perfect (and couldn't possibly be) I'll say this is one of their best. Graphically pleasing, good base systems, very few bugs out of the box. I've only had one crash so far, and I'm going to blame that on me turning on steam overlay. This game has provided a very impressive base to add on to. I know most wouldn't judge a game by this, but being a long time elder scrolls player, I've learned that a good base is imperative for the community to be able to launch off of with incredible mods to extend game-play long term. Just playing around I've already made a list in my head of what mods I'm pretty positive will be put out at some point. I'd list those ideas, but it would be off topic. All I want to say is, when people stop looking for things to find wrong with something, and start seeing everything the game has to offer, it changes everything.
  8. Unfortunately, sound driver update didn't fix it for me. It seems like most (if not all) of the hangs could be occurring when script heavy "events" take place. Triggering event/location based spawns (not just normal critter spawns), opening an interface, quest advancement scenarios, VATS (even worse when also being spammed with a ton of simultaneous effects in slow mo which has actually caused me to have to restart the game). In light of my newest theory, I've turned on papyrus logging to hopefully shed more light on the cause and possible solution (hopefully)
  9. The issue I'm having has only started within the last 2 or 3 days. It was running wonderfully, I went to bed, woke up and started having these issues. When going into VATS, terminals, Pipboy, workbench and inventories, the game will freeze up for around 2-5 seconds and then go back to running smoothly like nothing happened. It isn't every time, but common enough to be annoying. There are also other tiny random hangs, but not nearly as bad. Sound also seems slow to respond at times as well. 98% of the time my frames are pinned at 60. During these spikes my cpu isn't working any harder than normal. My ram usage doesn't ever go above normal. Things I've tried so far: Fresh clean reinstall of the gameLowering settingsRe-installing video and sound driversENBoostFrame limiting instead of vsyncLowered tessellationInitializing a page file (this made it worse so I turned it back off)Checked drive for errors and fragmentation, nothing wrongSet to run as admin (both the launcher and main exe)Borderless fullscreenDisabling steam overlayetc (so many things it's hard to remember them all)Honestly, the timeline seems to coincide with them putting their new patch out. It may have auto patched when I went to start it up that morning. My specs: Windows 10 Pro AMD FX-8350 16GB RAM Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290X 4GB OC edition I'd appreciate all the help people are able to offer. After troubleshooting and testing for days, I could use all the help I can get. It's rather typical that I had no sound or hanging issues until AFTER the patch, but such is life.
  10. I would really love to see more build options available. Extra wall, floor, ceiling, door options (lore friendly but in good condition..they are newly built after all)Windows are oddly missing from base gameOverhead view option for placementMore deco and storage optionsThe ability to fix/replace old and rickety roofs/walls There are so many things a project like this could tackle. Which is why I didn't call it just a mod. It'd be a lot of work, maybe a collaboration of people could work on it. I have a ton more ideas, but even just the above being put into game would make a big difference.
