  1. I've been hoping for this for ages! So happy to hear that Tannin is moving on and helping you guys, because it's like a dream come true for my modding hobby lol XD. I'm looking forward to the new NMM! Hopefully it'll time itself just when I get back into Skyrim modding after the release of the new HD Skyrim ;)
  2. The point is I want to learn about them, and there's no good information about them and every post that has good information for a beginner refers back to Sharlikran in one way or another. I've hit a road block in trying to educate myself, and it ticks me off :P I'm not trying to simply find a temporary fix to my compatibility or stability problems, I'm trying to educate myself so that I can identify and deal with these problems in the future. I already use MO, BOSS, BUM, WryeBash (for Bashed Patches), and several Skyproc patches and FNIS. Merge patches are new to me, and I don't want to bumble through TES5Edit before I can properly understand what I'm doing.
  3. I've been looking up and down the internet for any material that can teach me about merge patches, and there is a severe lack of information on the subject unless you already know what it is it would seem. I've heard it said that Sharlikran has released some videos a while back explaining merge patches or general TES5Edit uses, but every link to those videos have reported to me that the videos have been removed. If that truly is the case, is there anyone that can recommend to me some merge patch literature or other materials that DOESN'T reiterate how to clean mods (this I know how to do and is the only thing that's well explained in layman's terms regarding TES5Edit)? I will read anything! I have TES5Edit with the merge patch script all installed and ready to go, and I've had some success with it. The problem is that I've hit over 200 .esps and I've noticed that my game has taken a major dip in stability (where as before the ENB stability patch was allowing me to play for a great deal of time before I had a CTD). I'm not sure what's going on, because while I have a lot of script mods installed it didn't seem like they were directly interfering with each other and they seemed to be playing nice. The problem could be that I have simply too many, it could be my ESP list is too large, it could be that there are some conflicting scripts. What I want to do is be able to use TES5Edit to find out what is going on, but I don't know how to use it beyond making some automated merge patches that doesn't quite solve my issues. I want to learn how to see these scripts and how to clearly tell if there are mods that are, in fact, having a script conflicts, and then how to correctly fix these conflicts. What I'd also like to know is: what did you guys do to learn how to effectively use merge patches? I understand what the automated ones are doing, but when it comes to identifying and fixing conflicts myself I'm at a complete loss other than hoping any conflicts will be resolved if I make a automated patch. ATM I'm going through the STEP complete install (which I've done with MO) and I'm trying to completely merge a few .esps using the merge script 1.3 while avoiding merging mods with scripts since that seems to not go over so well. So far I ignore any mods that have a magic or quest header (since these files seem to contain the majority of scripts) and I merge the rest. Is this correct? I appreciate any help! TLDR: Where did the Sharlikran videos go? Is anyone willing to help guide me towards learning proficient TES5Edit functions?
  4. I too would like to know this information. I've hit a wall with my mods it would seem; I'm at the tipping point of either having too many mods or too many script heavy mods (or one mod with problematic scripts).
  5. In response to post #8664082. +1 to this. I get that people are having issues (I'm having them too) but it's kinda rude to harass Dark0ne's official post like this. Gotta go through the proper channels, and then this is what I would suggest: trust that they really mean it when they say they are working on the issues and wait. And I really mean it when I say: I'm really glad you haven't thrown the towel in Dark0ne! Love the Nexus, love the changes, can't wait to see where it's going :)
  6. I for one would be happy to help with this. It seems to me like you have a ton if mods that are either outdated or incompatible with each other. Georgiegril is correct, you have to manage your boss log down to the point where you don't get any errors and as few warnings as possible. I doubt that will be the end of your problem however. I don't know if you're using mod organizer to manage your mods, but I emphatically recommend that you switch to it ASAP. Send me a PM regarding that if you want to know more. Currently I have 250+ active mods going for me, and while I'm still weeding through a few minor bugs my game will load and play without any troubles. I followed the STEP guide for the base, got that working flawlessly, and then I started adding my own preferred mods at the end of it. STEP gives you a complete guide and list of mods that give Skyrim a fresher look and fixes a number of bugs with the game already. They've tested most of the mods on the Nexus and are always looking for a better way to solve a problem, so I use their list as a base and then add my own mods at the end. While I don't know if you'd be willing to start over your modding and give this a shot, I can say for sure that if you follow it correctly your game will work and function a lot better. Again, send me a PM I'd be happy to help.
  7. I'm also an MO user. NMM is a great, simple mod manager that should be pretty accessible to most new modders; but if you can get it working and you understand it, MO is a very powerful tool. I hope things can start settling down soon so that 3rd party mod managers will be able to function properly again lol. Anyway, good work Nexus Team, and thanks for keeping us posted :) Looking forward to some smooth sailings on the SSS Nexus :D
  8. @Dark0ne Hey, can we look forward to a video on these latest developments after they're all done? I rather enjoyed the last two you made! You and some might call them rambles, but I call them incredibly insightful and very informative. It would be very cool I think :)
  9. Fantastic job guys, this is starting to refine itself really well! I feel like you guys might be at the final form of the new homepage. Liking the changes, but I'm not sure I understand having two spots for the Latest Pictures and Latest Files. I get that some users have had a problem with it, but I like the feeds version of them better so it feels a little redundant. Then again, what would take up the side bar retail then? Maybe FOTM rankings? I feel like that should be placed at the top of the side bar right below the ad...
  10. GREAT job guys, the new look is looking much better! Hot Files are back in a great spot, and I really like being shown the site news right away. One thing I'd like to see / have clarified is if the "Tracking Files" tab could just show me updates on files I'm tracking, not so much that a user has commented on them (because that really clogs up that feed too much for me). Other than that, I like where everything is at on the front page and can't really complain about it. And I'm just saying guys... keep it constructive here. If it's "I don't like the old look, I want the old look back" or "I want a button to enable the old look" then it's not worth posting because it is in no way constructive. That's just my opinion to be honest, but I don't think the guys who are skimming this thread and looking for feedback are going to appreciate those sort of remarks (or really even consider them) :\
  11. Just guessing, but if you're running some texture mods and your GPU doesn't have enough memory to run them, it'll be stuck trying to load them for forever. If that's the case, I'd say take out all the texture mods and see if that improves things. I think you'll also need to post more info about your computer's hardware, as well as how many mods you're trying to run.
  12. First off: I was kicking around in the creation kit and trying to fiddle with it. Running through a few tutorials but I'm specifically looking for the food objects. I would like to see if I can simply replace their given effects with my own, and then there are a few more advanced things I'd like to try to do but they aren't essential right now. Does anyone know where the food items (and meal ingredients as well) are listed under and if I can change their buff types? I'd like to recreate food in Skyrim to give it a much needed purpose, because as it stands I feel like food is a very useless mechanic that could have served a purpose with a little more fleshing out. Read on if you want to read some of my ideas behind this: So I was thinking today: Bethesda has done a great job flushing out enchanting, smithing, and alchemy, but it really doesn't seem like they really found a purpose for cooking in this game and that kinda disappointed me. There's basically no real point or practical benefit to cooking your own meals or eating in general. Potions are more than abundant enough to do most of what cooking offers and they do it much better. So the issue really is that there's just no incentive for any kind of gamer to want to eat, unless you'r a die hard RP-er. Even then though, wouldn't it be nice to be better rewarded as an RP player for doing your RP business? In fact, isn't that exactly what the Rested bonus is? Sleeping in a bed is practical for all kinds of players, power gamers and RP-ers alike. That little bonus is a nice incentive, yet it's not so huge that it's "key" that you snag it at every opportunity available (though if you did, you'd certainly would level up faster). It's both a totally different kind of bonus than what a potion offers, and it's a small one compared to what other mechanics in the game function like. For that matter, when you worship at an alter or a temple, you're also rewarded (and again, it's a little bonus that all kinds of play styles can appreciate). So after all that said, giving basically no practical incentive to eat food just seems too silly! What I'd like to do is create a mod that changes all the given effect of each food item and recipe, and give them entirely new effects that are as minimal as possible (so not to be OP) but to add a more practical buff. Here's my thought: Potions give strong but short buffs, so why not have food give moderately weaker but longer lasting buffs? Eating raw and common ingredients will give you something to the tune of a small increase in health that lasts 6 minutes (I think that's around 2 Skyrim hours), where as the more rare ingredients and cooked items will give you larger health increases, health regen, or even stamina or magicka increases and regens that last twice as long (something like 6 skyrim hours). ...At leat that's what I'm thinking right now! I'm sure if I got involved with scripting (which I would have to learn but probably could manage something) I'd like to really go beyond just changing the given food values to slightly altering the whole "eating" system around it (such as a "You are Full" debuff that prevents you from eating anymore, etc). Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started? Tips?
