  1. Sorry it's late! I just got around to checking these forums! http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2332 There's what you're looking for! It changes all the younger NPCs and your character to actually LOOK young when they are supposed to. Old characters still look old.

    Love

I guess the reason we refuse to believe that the cause for love could be found - and controlled by science... Is that once they found something... they would be able to turn it off - or on at will. Sorry, I'm a fan of Dystopic books lol. I just don't think mankind is trustworthy enough to be given the key to love... not that I think there is one... but that's not a topic I can talk about here. ;)

    Love

Exactly. I think the Greeks had it right - there is brotherly love, romantic love, and unconditional love. Some people are also able to live in love - to care so much about others that they would sacrifice their own safety/health/convenience for them. I don't think love will ever be explained by science. Animals protect and nurture their young but never would they go OUT OF THEIR WAY to help another being. The cases of a dog nursing a cat were simply that the dog was in "nurture mode" and had enough milk to provide for the kitten. I think Humans have more. There are those of us that will secretly go and do some charity - never wanting credit for what they did, not even wanting anyone to know they did it - out of the love in their hearts. In some cases, those acts of Charity saved or changed lives. On 9/11, the firemen that went into the burning Twin Towers knew that if they went in, they wouldn't come out. But they went in and many lost their lives... out of love - to save a perfect stranger at the cost of your own life is love in perfection. Science will never explain that.
  4. Deep South, USA I'm proud of the Civil War. History kinda lost the reason we got into it in the first place... we didn't want big government. Why the heck would the (majority) of the south who didn't OWN slaves have gotten in the war if it was JUST about slaves? It was because we didn't want the government nosing in on us, we wanted to run our states how we wished... the higher tariffs for the South compared with the North didn't help either... I'm proud that we stood up and fought. I wish we'd do it again. What the winners of the war won't tell you. (Best link I could find that wasn't written by the winners. Winners write the history of wars.)
  5. Well, it really depends on where you live. If you live in a good neighborhood, odds are you will go to an OK school, if you live in a bad neighborhood, you're screwed. If they would just let parents choose where to send their kids... At the time I graduated, accredited private schools did not have to have their students take the exit exam.
  6. Nope! Now we have the "not war" and can't get our fingers out of the pies we've already thrown in our own faces. You know our troops are secretly making off with barrels of oil in the night. :ninja: (for those of you who do not get it... the above line was sarcasm)
  7. I am not sure optional classes would be much different, which I why I am reluctant to agree with them. Unfortunately, schools are different all across the country, so your art/music classes are likely completely different from the ones I take. Different standards, teachers, environments, etc. It's difficult to draw a generalization with such difference. Very true. I think that music/art classes done right are one of the few classes that CAN teach a student how to think for themselves. They also help you discover your talents... and kept my gpa high roll lol! I learned how to breathe correctly from my HS music teacher, he also singled me out and suggested that I take voice lessons (I had perfect pitch, an extremely wide range but a soft singing voice) It's thanks to him that I sometimes sing at weddings and won 200 last month at a Kareoke competition lol. I would say I really learned to debate and think in HS - namely in the headmasters senior theology/philosophy class. My. Favorite. Class. Ever. I don't think I learned from my parents... they never change or challenge their ideas. I think that questioning your own ideals every now and again is a good thing.
  8. Oh I firmly believe every Nazi out there should have been hunted down like a dog, tortured, gassed then shoved in a fire. The fact that some escaped justice... However, I believe the Germans need to stop apologizing now. lol 15 years ago my school had a German exchange student, he got up before us in assembly and publicly apologized to us. I didn't get why... still don't. He wasn't alive back then, not many were. Why was he saying sorry? The German people, as a whole, were idiots but someone is fooled all the time. I guess... during Hitler's life... the suckers of the world all lived in Germany. I don't know what could make a people act like that - think of one race as sub-human - and I hope I never find out.
  9. And now you are breaking the rules. Do I really need to mention all the GOOD Christians have done over the years? Also... not a catholic. We fought the fear and corruption and reformed and awakened the world.
  10. Lol I try not to watch those displays of stupidity. But you did just make me giggle... an impressive feat considering that I might have drowned my kindle (precious) :ohdear: I'll know in the morning. It's sitting in rice now. Just a reflection on what I was saying. The people in control now are the PRODUCT of the "lets teach our children to not think" educational system... and the younger someone in control is... the more time the system has had to adjust. There's a reason COLLEGES now have REMEDIAL courses. (Isn't that an Oxie for morons?) It just ain't working. It's broke, so fix it. Schools that aren't getting money will either reform or close (while a better school opens nearby). I'm not suggesting anything terribly radical here. It's not like I'm suggesting the money is attached to kid and can even go to (say it isn't so!) private or even... religious schools!!!! I just want every kid to have a chance at a good education. It's pathetic that I was able to teach a (rather bright) fifth grader to read JUST BY USING A DIFFERENT METHOD than the teacher used! Before she came to me, she could hardly read Dick and Jane and in a MONTH I had her sounding out surgery in class! Phonetics/sounding out the word worked for her... the look see system... failed quite miserably. If you haven't already watched it... watch Neverlution on the comedy channel. I am texting you "trophies" right now...
  11. Sorry to post on an "older" topic but... I just have to put in my two cents. Why can't we just have some competition between the schools? True, rich people either move or send their kids to private (mine weren't rich and sacrificed a lot to get me a good education in private school) but public schools are GOING to get the majority of kids in their district. Why don't we do what we SHOULD have done when integrating and let the parents CHOOSE where to send their kids? The schools that have the kids get the money. The system should be similar to the Swiss', the money moves with the child. No parent, no matter how crappy, is going to choose to send their kid to a bad school. They just can't afford to leave where they are. I guarantee you... within just a matter of years, we would have good schools again because the bad ones would have failed and the good ones would have grown. We would need to allow just 50 or so new students a year in a school so that the good school would have a chance to expand gradually and the bad schools could hear the death knell... Public schools were started so that people would know enough to work in a mill or factory... Can't you tell? Students are NOT taught how to think, to question their teachers/parents and learn for themselves how the world works. They are taught how to test well, and how to go with the status quo. SOME teachers are great in public school and do try to teach their students how to think, don't get me wrong. But those teachers are going against the original purpose of the American Educational System. My link
  12. Heyyou, the poll was asking whether the news/Unca Sam were doing a good job on keeping us informed on WHY we were at war with so many countries out in the ME (I count the "not war" also). Clear as mud! Considering the fact that to get the unvarnished truth I have to go to the two right and left extremes, the BBC, online news sites/blogs AND talk to some friends that check different sources from I... I'm about convinced they are TRYING to keep us in the dark!
  13. Eh... I think you're being a little *too* alarmist. China also depends on the INTEREST from those loans so as long as interest payments are made on time... we're cool on that front. Think of it, they are not going to do anything to interrupt that steady, substantial cash flow they are getting every month. Right now... Interest makes the world go round. :wallbash:  I think we are most likely to be fighting over oil... I swear... there are certain car companies that have MADE SURE we will be dependent on oil for as long as possible. There are several things out there that could get us off gas completely... and the car companies own the patents... and don't USE the ideas/products. And then there is the first electric car... RIP. Pisses me off.
  14. Actually, the initial reasons we enter a country are USUALLY pureish. We just need to learn when to pack up ALL OUR TOYS (guns) and go home. We usually enter a country for relief after a disaster, or because some country is trying to take over another (sometimes though.. I say we let them fight it out). But we STAY too darn long and try to "help" too much. And we leave our toys in the sandbox... The trouble recently has been is that WE LEAVE OUR GUNS THERE... and then 10,15,20 years later find those guns aimed back at us. Not fun.
  15. How about white males? Looking back in history, they're responsible for many heinous crimes and atrocities. We better keep them in check since they obviously can't be trusted. That's true.... and they get away with more too.... Note that most of the politicians in the US are white males......... Trust me, I wouldn't cry if everyone in congress/El Presidento suddenly dropped dead. But terrorist speaking (unless you count the news...) White males aren't the ones making the most trouble right now. Would it be possible to keep a list of who has joined the RADICAL branches of Islam? Couldn't we just check that list? I honestly wouldn't be against a membership census of ALL the religious centers if it would get us that list. (and yes, I would be part of the census taken) The sad thing... I've read the Koran. I know there are many beautiful things about the religion. The Koran is a little more radical than the Bible (kill the infidels... anyone NOT a muslim is considered an infidel... kinda radical) but much like the Christians and "do not suffer a witch to live" passage of the bible, MOST Muslims follow other passages, including many of peace and love. It's just the radical nuts that are the problem and if we could find out who they were... ... Well, some religious persecution might be in order. (I know that religion is a no talk topic but I think this is pertinent to show that is isn't even all or most Muslims that are the problem... just the nutty ones.) But yeah. It would be HILARIOUS if we started "profiling" the idiots that got us into this mess and profiling/refusing services to them! Holy crap... Bush and Pellossi wouldn't even be able to buy Coffee anymore!!! Edit: And that Norway "Christian" Terrorist... not even affiliated with a church, was more of a Muslim hater than a Christian. The Liberal media just labeled him "Christian"... for reasons I will not discus. ;) As for the others you are probably thinking of... 9.5 times out of ten... those would be Cultist... NOT Christians. IE: Any religious leader "claiming" he hears DIRECTLY from God... is a nut, a liar, or the leader of a cult.
  16. I would say it's OK to take that country down in three cases - two of which are reflected in WW II. Genocide - A government attempt to make an entire race of people within or without that country go extinct. Attempted World Domination - Trying to play Alexander the Great in the 21st century = bad and kill them! Invasion - They came here to hurt/kill us... let's kill them all! Those are the only cases where I view it as justifiable.
  17. Well, if the woman was incredibly rich (as many of our characters are,) it would stand to reason that she would have a personal armorer that she could give that special order to. It might even be adjustable for the different stages of pregnancy using straps. I dunno haven't seen the armor - I play Oblivion only lol.
  18. Actually, I think it's only a natural thing to look very closely at any veiled/arab looking people we see in public places. It would be wrong to actively persecute them due to their race/religion but I don't have a problem with profiling in this case. These people have purposely twisted a clause that was intended to only be used in the case of home invasion, or, arguably invasion of their country. The original "Jihad" was NOT permission to go to another country and blow up their buildings/kill their people. What they are doing is NOT Jihad. There is nothing holy about it, and it has not been blessed/endorsed by their god. As for Blacks and Whites... I am a white women in the South. No one in my family ever had slaves, we were sharecroppers - one baby step above slavery ourselves. My mother and aunt participated in the sitins to get the blacks their rights. And then the state finally agreed to do it. In this state, integration was a complete disaster. For her senior year, mom was supposed to be bussed to a school where she would be one of five whites... in the entire school. She was scared, really scared. There isn't much to mom, physically. So my grandparents snuck mom into another school where she finished her senior year. And the housing committee pretty much managed to keep everyone segregated anyway. While I was growing up, the schools/news/government did everything they could to make me feel guilty for being white! For what? We were Irish that came over in the potato famine on one side and sharecroppers on the other. The only person in my family that was prejudice was my dad's dad... and he was kidnapped by a black man when he worked as a taxi driver. He was OK before that. So I don't blame him TOO much. As for black/white marriages... I'm for them and against them at the same time. It's a beautiful thing when people from that much of a different background can come together and make a family. But... whenever a white person and an African American marry and have kids... the child is considered "black" they are half white, they have a whole other side of history and culture that seems to just be disregarded. I hate that. The other reason... I think light eyes, hair and skin are attractive and it does sadden me that eventually those traits will be rare/extinct in America... the world's melting pot.
  19. Oh, I don't know, loving in an underground bunker sounds kind of fun! I do think that there will be an end of things... eventually. I mean, we are "due" for about three disasters that would be world changing/ending. Yellowstone extinction asteroid/comet WW III Sooner or later, our time will come for either or all of the three. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. It does drive me slightly batty to know that there IS something we could do about the asteroid/comet thing and we still think throwing a nuke at it would fix the problem... not enough research is being done there. When ever it is, the best thing you can do is just be ready, both to die and to live in the aftermath. One more question, if you knew a nuke was going to hit somewhere close to you, what would you do?
  20. That's the thing. They're not the same thing. I never, ever accused anyone of such. I know there are a lot of people out there that have/would but I would not accuse anyone directly of it unless I SAW them do it... nor would I imply the same. I was TRYING to find some common ground that Redhead and I could agree on but she was so keyed up she didn't see that. I just wish this forum had an ignore this person button. I will apologize for the jealously (did a little of my own inferring there, I guess.) comment but the bitter (and NOT because of children) comment I will not recant. SOMEthing has to be going on for her to react like that. One of my friends has given me and some others permission to call her out if we see her acting horribly bitter. She has a lot to be bitter about but knows that she won't get what she is looking for in life if all she does is vents. I do sympathize with Redhead on the subject of her mother though. I guess having a child is even more important to me because the last two children born in my family were lost. Parker, an almost one year old little boy was accidentally drowned in the bathtub as his mother was strung out on drugs. Eli, who died even younger died of sids. The father of Eli was the mother of Parker's brother. He had put the baby down for a nap, came back to check on him and... I guess I'm somewhat afraid for when I have my own baby if it will live or not. I came on here to state my excitement about possibly having a child soon, I was careful to state that these were things that were personal to me, (I believe, I feel) and (the being a parent being the biggest, most painful and most rewarding responsibility things was a quote BTW. I just forgot the quotation marks. But it is something that I, personally, believe.) then I just get attacked and accused of inferring things that I did NOT infer! People that choose not to/can't be parents are no lesser than anyone else! No one is! Yes, they don't experience one of life's possible joys but I will never (hopefully) know what the "single life" is like. I moved from my parents to my husband's home. It's the same difference! So you don't/can't make a little person with half your DNA, so what! It's not the be all and end all. I plan for it to be an important part of MY life but I have a heart for children. Redhead has a heart for grown-ups. FINE. Now, if I've cleared that up can we PLEASE just move on?
  21. Take your bitterness and jealousy somewhere else because I don't care to hear it. Someone does not have to be officially a child social worker to be a worthwhile person. (How you can help anyone with that bitter spirit of yours is beyond me.) I was helping through my local church. I was never certified and I was grandfathered in from having to have a background check when they started checking people that would have direct contact with kids. While I was doing all that, I also worked in a homeless mission for men and I value that work just as much as I value the work I did with those kids. So quit putting words in my mouth. The only people I would consider valueless are those who would overlook a child who they KNEW needed help and do NOTHING about it! I can't stand those people who would leave a kid crying, alone on the street without asking what was wrong! Homeless people... I just carry crackers, water and a few toiletries with me. (If I can get ahold of gift certificates even better) because I know what most of them would do with the money - just go buy more of their vise. Regardless of the sexual predator fear, I choose to help kids out. With the world the way it is, I can't help grown-ups terribly much, but I can help kids.
  22. First of all, I am NOT one of those 2012 nutz. If anything... the fact that the world is supposed to end on mom's 60th bday amuses me to no end! ;D But... You have to admit, these last few years have been... hinky. I dunno. There seems to be a sense of fear settling over the world. This year alone we had the snows... having THAT much ice here... unheard of!!! 2 inches of snow stop the whole city! Then there was the tornadoes. I don't wanna talk about the tornadoes. *nervous twitch* Record breaking number... all the dead... screaming in the night... tornadoes where there shouldn't be tornadoes... :ohdear: Unusually hot summer... Something's up. I'm beginning to wonder if global warming is real after all! And now the government is... I don't know what they are doing but it isn't their jobs. And we seem to be at war or hated by nearly everyone. Thoughts?
  23. I'm going to be honest here, it seems as if you are, A: Angry at society and trying to get someone to take the opposing side to yours JUST so you can vent at them. B: Trying to receive justification for yourself in your attempts or thoughts of suicide and your resistance of "the man". Please correct me if I'm wrong but that does seem to be what it looks like. As for some peoples argument that it's OK as long as no one is hurt, someone is always hurt... if the person had any close emotional connections whatsoever... those loved ones will be hurt. And losing a friend to suicide is not something you can just put a bandaid on and move on. It sticks with the person for the rest of their lives... they always wonder if there was something they could have done to help... Yes, I did lose someone.
  24. I don't appreciate that. And I didn't mean "being a parent" as in popping out a kid and letting it end up in jail. I MEANT "parenting the child" and yes, even the childless can do that. Being a mentor, showing a hurting kid that some adults out there really do care. I meant walking that tightrope between turning out a shivering little ball of human fear and a hellion headed for trouble. ANYone can make a difference in a child's life. I volunteered for years with children and got one girl, in particular, out of an abusive situation. She's just about to graduate high school now and I consider her, my kid. There are others I could mention. And I may end up not having a child of my own. My husband's family carries a deadly birth disease, I'm getting tested to see if I"m a carrier also and if I am... we're adopting. Someone who can't/won't have children is by no means "lesser". Someone not willing to help out a kid and try and protect/mentor a kid that you see is in trouble however... The jury is out on that one.
  25. There's also a lot of people like me who A: have a spouse with a good job And people who are doing more of what I'm doing for loan money and pocket change: Doing odd jobs for people OR cleaning houses. The job market is just depressing. And it doesn't help that there are people out there trying to scam job searchers into sharing their credit info/SS#. >:( And those are the people, I hope burn in H3LL! Sorry for doubting your sanity/IQ there. I thought you meant it took two weeks to find a job! LOL Seriously though, can anyone see anything bad/wrong about breaking those stupid trade agreements? I can't. As for the jobless Illegal Immigrants... sorry. Can't bring myself to care. They should just go home. ... Folks we might finally solve that problem! If there are no jobs for the illegals LOL... sorry, just thought of that one. heehee
