  1. Interesting. Just tried to hit trees (never done that before) and yes, I can. Doesn't do anything useful other than make a sound but that indicates to me that the system recognises a "solid" mesh exists. Have played this game for years and not needed to use any hiRes packages yet as I do not have a 4k monitor so 1~2k textures look just fine on my system - but then again, that is my system not yours. You seem to know the load order which indicates you are using modmanager and if you used the loot (sort) function within this then it should be correct pretty much correct so... just as suggestions, hardware firstly as in maybe the graphics card or maybe perhaps try moving 8 prior to 5 just to prove the patch isn't the cause of the problem? Only a comment on the fly
  2. Problem solved. One paramater in the export not right.
  3. Well, I think I got everything right but I seem to have missed something here. I can do this the long way using Nifscope and Blender 2.49 but trying hard to learn how to do this in Blender 2.7x I can import a .nif file no problem, in fact with the new tools it seems to work very well. I can alter the .nif file with no problem, learning as I go with the new Blender interface which again, is very impressive and a great improvement on the 2.4x series. Problem comes in export of the .nif. Like I said, I think I got everything right but I get an error saying (can't remember exactly) something to do with a forearm twist bone and this comes up with or without any skeleton or body mesh. any suggestions from anybody?
  4. Well, this is strange. I have not found out what was causing the problem but it now seems to be fixed. This issue has been with me on two computers since Skyrim was released and yesterday, they hit the deck as the previous posts suggest. I have not removed any mods but rather installed Ragdolls, XP32 skeleton, FNIS and HDT so I could play with some better animations and whoosh - the problem is gone. So still none the wiser.
  5. Thanks. Yes, mods running. Just a matter now of finding out which one(s)
  6. Is my game not right? Am I the only one? I have been playing this game for years now but still to this date, if I kill a Chaurus (flying hunter or fledgling) it dies but keeps flying! Is this meant to be?
  7. Noticed that also. Wondered why a mod with 5 dl's could have 150+ endorsements.
  8. Realistic weapon weight is good to have, Glowing ore veins also handy, Lady body (LB) worth looking at if you want a realistic looking female with modest clothing, SkyUI for interface and of course you need SKSE script extender, Rich merchants makes a stating game a little easier to pawn off your looted goods. Sorry, no links provided as in a hurry but easy to search for
  9. My 10c worth. Sword and Shield go very well together: Need the appropriate perks, but it is very powerful for a warrior type character. Max out block as quickly as you dare to level up... Shield punch is incredibly effective... Hold block and sprint at multiple enemies, watch them fly... Shield punch on that death-lord just as he shouts at you and watch it backfire on him (also you seem to take less stagger damage from shouts) Shield punch the enemy power attacks, watch them reel and stagger back and or cower down. Use ward against dragons and high level mage attacks... Hotkey ward and shield for quick swap to finalize the attack. Tips: Block as often as you dare before attacking (adds block points), Shield punch as often as stamina allows... Enchant a ring when you get the dual perk level with fortify block and fortify one-hand Disarm shout used against you can be a setback so if weight not too much of an issue, carry 3 enchanted swords (dagger/whatever) 1. enchanted stamina and health damage (expensive to run but good on powerful opponents) 2. enchanted shock and soul trap (to feed the black star & geode collected gems) 3. enchanted fire and frost (good for most things) Dual wield combos always a cool option on those special occasions where you want a quick end to the fight, hotkey back to shield or ward as you see fit. Not sure if the game or just my luck but Disarm shout does not seem to remove shield from my inventory, I seem to be able to just hotkey it back again and select another sword, dispatch the opponents and go look for my disarmed sword.
  10. Thanks for that, kinda makes sense now.
  11. The tough thing about being young is that you can never taste the wisdom that comes with age and experience until you get there yourself. The tough thing about being senior is that you loose a lot of the outgoing enthusiasm and vibrancy you had when you were young. The young tend have a lot of ideas that are 'outside the box' (to use that phrase) and the box is very big but not as yet very well defined. The more senior still have many ideas that are outside the box but the box is much better defined and more focused, which in essence tends to make the box smaller - so our experience and accumulated wisdom over our years refines the way we think but also tends to restrict the areas in which we apply that thinking. I look at this game. I tend to agree that a good deal of the design would have been done by senior designers, however I do suspect that much of the content within the end result came from the younger generation in inspiration and talent. I might be well wrong here but the game has a feel of youthfulness with an experienced grip on the overall production - or maybe it is just the way I play it LOL It is difficult to make a game that is outside the box because the public may not accept it and that in turn runs risk of a financial failure. So it is inevitable that the same old 'shoot-em-up' or 'cut-em-to-bits' games will come in various forms of that concept over and over again. They are popular and it would be difficult to prove otherwise I am sure. At least with Bethesda's games you can add covertness, stealth, tactic, diplomacy etc into your game play as you see fit and that I think is what makes this game series good games to play. My 10cents worth...
  12. so this thread goes back a bit but never really got answered. By now there will be a number of people who have played the game a good deal so can anyone enlighten me and others as to what effect meditating on the words with Paarthumax has - if anything? I did the meditation thing once but not sure if anything actually happened or if it was just conversation (so to speak).
  13. Understand where you are coming from Wholfen. In age, I am not far behind you and like you, appreciate a great game and all who contributed to it. I think the older you get, the more discerning you become and it is a pleasure to play a game that is well made, well moderated (violence, drugs, destruction - in context to your play method) yet gives the player a great adrenaline rush and captivating play experience. Thumbs up for your post.
  14. Please excuse me as I understand there is a wealth of info on this forum but it could take days to wade through. No doubt the answers to what I am looking for are in there somewhere. I have done around 150hrs on this game and love it to bits but there are a couple of things I would really like to fix/change if it is possible. I have done about 4yrs of Oblivion and I am familiar with computers, INI files etc if this helps... I am looking for some kind-hearted quick help or can do/ can't do type answers. 1. I play 3rd person (my preference) nearly all the time. I notice that (in third person) when weapon sheathed, my character does not 'turn' with the mouse direction and thus when I view the map to see what is in the general area around me, my map character direction pointer shows the direction my character is facing not where my mouse direction is currently looking. Is there any way of changing this? 2. No matter what I seem to do, change control keyboard settings or whatever, my character ALWAYS starts (when the game starts) in RUN mode. Any way of changing this? 3. (edit) oops, almost forgot. When I view the map it always defaults to isometric view. Any way of changing this to default as plan view? I had an xBox but got rid of it because my computer could do just as well as what the xBox could - thus a resolved "PC" player. I look at and use the interface for this game and realise it is designed for games machines but, as a side thought and though not specifically looking for an answer, is there any mod out there to make this interface more PC - i.e mouse friendly, or is anyone out there willing to have a go at doing so?
  15. Fantastic, Thanks for the hint. Favorites is not F or T or any other such letter or character, it is whatever you POV toggle is. Thank you for you help and hope this helps others who may be using gamepads etc.
  16. Not sure what you mean BrknSoul. Toggle POV is Mouse button 3 in my setup. Would that cause a problem?
  17. As said, tried everything I can think of except re-install. When using keys from the menu screens, they make a sound. F key doesn't. Help describes T as being the key to set a favorite but this doesn't work either. Will try re-install, see what happens.
  18. Well, hate to say this but I seem to be totally unable to set any item as a favorite. Have tried for about an hour, nothing seems to work, the F key does not work nor does directly clicking on it with the mouse, nor does any other key seem to work yet I can drop items, recharge, give, put in and out of containers etc. I have had a good read on this forum but cannot find an answer that works. Any suggestions from anybody?
