  1. I like the gray on gray. For someone like me, who is mostly color blind, the grays work well. Plus grays are easy to see in most lighting. But I have noticed some sites offer a light color scheme and a dark color scheme. Maybe that would be cool. Give people the option. Lighter is easier to see in the day, darker at night. As far as the features, I've noticed an issue where my mod manager doesn't really link well with the website. I usually have to download manually then find it in the manager. Don't know if thats a website thing or something with the program. Also- when looking through the mods it was very difficult to find the categories button. Like really difficult. For a while I thought you removed that. Maybe a larger central page showing that navigation? As far as that i think the site is pretty streamlined. I haven't had any real issues. Though the mobile website is not something I'm a fan of. Lol. But, maybe have the sites somewhat resemble the games they are connected to? Like the fallout one be all irradiated? The elder scrolls all fantasy? (enter shameless plug) As an artist... I'm pretty good at painting and designing custom menus and looks. Let me know, lol.
  2. no, I do not think this is broken. if a modder wanted to block someone because they spelled Mississippi with an 'E' then I believe they have that right. do I think that is petty and childish? yes, yes I do, but does that mean their right to do so should be taken away? no no I don't. Then we disagree. Thats ok in a discussion. But the discussion should make others think. Which it has. And I hope it continues to. Even though there are those here jealous I'm taking you guys away from "more important" discussions. Maybe I'll stick around.. lol. so you aren't sorry you are just sorry you said it out loud... that doesn't make it better It doesn't have to be better. Look...we have all kinds of opinions of people. You said earlier, your opinion of me isn't high either (that may change at some point...I grow on people...lol). Based on the limited information you've read from me. But you refrain from calling me names. My opinion of his response wasn't high, based on the little info I read. I just voiced it in an inappropriate manner. Which I agree, isn't ok.
  3. the thing is... you aren't sorry dude... you clearly repeat that numerous times. you have contradicted yourself on this at least 3 times now in the same post. you perceived (wrongly) that the modder was being rude and you decided to be a jerk and got what you deserved for it. then you tried to apologize for calling him a dick... but you still think he is a dick. in the process, you ended up finding out that a modding site is promodder and got mad about it. Just because I think the guy was rude, and was being a dick, didn't mean I was unaware of the neglectfulness of calling him one. I've admitted It wasn't cool on my part. I can disagree with his actions while still condemning my own. Like I said, rude begets rude.
  4. no. we care about features and will discuss them, and we have. you just don't listen so there isn't much point in discussing it. also yes I am judging you based off what you say, this thread and what you said on the mod page are the only things I know of you so far and so far... you have acted poorly as such I judge you poorly. that is the nature of human beings. I also know all of these other users to various degrees as I have been here a while and I mostly understand or at know their views. also aside from you know one here has said anything I would honestly disagree on. The reason we don't care what Reddit and Loverslab is because they tend to be childish and whiny and try to pretend to be victims when they are "wronged" in some way. like saying "I called this modder a 'dick' after he told me no when I asked him to port his mod." and then getting blocked/banned for it. I think you do care. I believe you.Sincerely. I went back and reread your comments. Despite judging me for having a bad day (one I was very honest about, and one which the owner even posted and inadvertently validated my honesty). I admit, that in my OC, I wrote the words erroneous, which were written out of bitterness. I did call the MA a name. Regardless, if it was deserved or not. I admit, it was in poor taste. People make mistakes. People have bad days. In retrospect, after praising the dude, his shortness with me and my questions, were depicted as uber rude. Doesn't validate my reaction. But, it happened. I reacted. Whatever. It is what it is. That being said, hear me out: Ignoring now all of what I said, and looking at the block tool objectively: the only reason you need to block someone is, they comment. Which opens up the window of misuse. If you block also their ability to communicate, that breaks any line to not only apologize for any wrong doing, but also removes any ability to ask the author if it was an accident. Also-The message that pops up, is somewhat heavy handed, and intimidating to those who fear being banned. Which, I assume deters people seeking resolution. Being file blocked from cool mods sucks. But that's a seemingly heavy punishment, which should be used as a last line of defense, not the first option for modders. If you do care, and I believe you do, ask yourself: none of this seem broken to you? Also, being someone who can admit when I'm wrong, I agree what I did was...welll... dick. Haha. (Even though there are those here repeatedly refusing to hear that). If I had the opportunity to take the comment down, or message the author I would've. Not because I want to use his mods, but because its the right thing to do. But the system, being broken or somewhat flawed, I have no ability to do so. Ps- for those reading: I'm letting go of the profanity thing. If that's the site owners preference... so be it. Its his site. His rules. I don't get it. And I still think its the kettle calling the pot black. But whatever. I obviously rarely visit this forum. And per the OC, I still think its a curious term of use.
  5. This kinda got me wondering. Technically speaking, is there such a thing as misuse of the file blocking system? Anything we could do if actually gotten blocked for literally nothing? Not a case where a user's downplaying or misrepresenting the situation but for literally nothing like the author simply had a bad mood or dislikes their avatar or name? Like let's say hypothetically all I did was say "Thank you for your contribution, <Mod Author>. I really like your mod!" and got blocked for it or I politely make a simple request and got blocked for it. Or worst case I never commented at all and got blocked anyways(IDK how this works?)? Or if I look in the comments, someone commented "I love your mod!" and author replied with "Blocked." should I report that? Would it be considered abuse of the feature if a user has never ever made any toxic or rude post ever yet got file blocked? This topic got me curious so I checked in the Terms & Policies, did not find anything about this. My understanding after finding it not present is that it would be fair game to do so? Yes. These are the questions I was asking.
  6. It all depends entirely on what questions you asked, and how you asked them. But guess what? This may come as a shock to you, but that store owner has the right to be rude to you just as much as you seem to think you have the right to be rude to him (or the mod author as well). As such, if he decided you're being a pretentious jackass he can kick you out of the store and there's nothing you can do about it. "We reserve the right to refuse service to ANYONE" is the principle in operation here. It applies equally to your retail scenario and to this issue you caused with the mod author. And still... debating what I did to get blocked. Don't care. Rude begets rude. Seen it. Got one of my own on Shurah's page for Immersive Citizens I can refer to even. So what? That message is far FAR less "rude" than the original one that used to be there. The guy blocked you. Get over it. He obviously does not want to deal with you and none of us can blame him for that now after all of this. If you had pulled this on one of my mod pages I'd have blocked you for it too. Wait...so because its "less" rude then it was, then it's good now? What kind of backwards logic is that? He blocked me. I am over it. You guys are the ones who don't seem to be. And no, he didn't have the prescience to know that this would happen. And "you all?" What, all 8 or so posters? Big deal. I hardly feel that a small thread, were most of you are biting the mob mentality and are aberrant from any normal ability to read and look past your own projections, hardly denote "none of us". As if the whole modding community, and nexus now disagrees with me? Come off it. Granted, the site owner chimed in, and I respect what he had to say about it. Albeit I disagreed with small stuff. But I wasn't disrespectful to him in any way. If anything I high-fived him for his awesome website and program. And I'm allowed to respectfully disagree. Isn't that what these discussions are for? Ah, the battlecry of one who wishes he had been wronged but really wasn't. You think we haven't all heard this one before? Its an honest question to a potential problem. But watching this mob clumsily attack me, in an attempt to have me submit; I can't imagine why you've heard it before and never made the connection. We don't care what Reddit or Lover's Lab thinks. Most of those people whining about it in those places got blocked for totally good reasons, and in many cases went on to be abusive to the mod author afterward and got banned entirely. Find a better selection of people without a strong anti-Nexus bias and maybe you'll convince someone. Why would you? It would go against what you believe. Can't have that. Maybe these people are too afraid to speak their concerns here... watching all this unfold, I cannot imagine why... you guys are so inviting. Sorry, but you totally are and you're the only one who can't see that. I'm glad your ability to perceive so much while blindly missing my point, tells you so much about me. You must be a jedi! Largely because you're the wrong person to bring a "wrongful block" action up in the forum since you insulted the guy. You're lucky to still be here posting. Most folks who insult mod authors get banned outright for that. Perhaps someone was lenient with you this time. You should consider yourself lucky. Ah ha! Finally! What I've been waiting to hear. Thank you. "I'm the wrong guy. Because I was blocked, by what some could consider rightfully; I now, no longer have a say on the rules". I mentioned this fallacious logic earlier, but nobody was listening. People were to busy jumping in, trying to get a quick kick in instead of reading. Mob mentality and all. I suspected a sense of elitism between modders and users. Especially pertaining the rules. But I waited for the elitist comment to arrive. And here we are. Perhaps someone was lenient with me? "I'm sorry me lord. In the future, us plebs will keep the respect high and our heads down... and submit to thine ways..." What a load of pretentious bs. Consider myself lucky??? I've done nothing wrong save call someone a dick for being a dick. That action got me blocked from said author. I already stated MULTIPLE times, if I had a way, I would've sent a message to apologize. Hell, without being blocked, I still would've retracted my comment. Not because of fear from "thine modding lords". But because I was having a bad day, and once it passed I realized I could've been way more tactful with the mod author, even if he was being rude. But not only did I not have that ability, since he blocked any messages from me... I realized after some research, that the whole system seemed flawed ANYWAYS. So here we are: the forum about discussing RULES AND TERMS not peoples CHARACTER or RIGHT to chime in on this platform. But thank you, for finally pointing out the fallacious logic I've been seeing.
  7. It's getting really frustrating how many of you posting, are missing the point. I literally can't tell if its my inability to communicate via forum, or your inability to understand. Either way its becoming troublesome and I'm losing my ability to care anymore. Like I said, if the moderators ok it, I can post a link to a conversation elsewhere, that talks in depth about this very subject. If not, use a search engine. I can assure everyone I'm not the only person who thinks this feature, is a little heavy handed and probably needs to be tweaked in a couple of ways. Second, isn't the point of this forum to discuss rules, terms and features? So cut me some slack.
  8. ...so... payment for mods is acceptance of belittlement to the puny user? Should I bow or curtsy to the thrones of modders? This comment, explicably proves my point, flawlessly. Thank you. On that... I'm out. Date night tonight. You all have a wonderful night. The mod author said literally one word to you: "No." You were the one that escalated the situation. You were the one that made this thread talking about how the block function is supposedly overpowered. You were the one that said that you don't regret calling the mod author a dick. So if you think my comment somehow proves you right, go on believing that. And no, payment for mods is not the acceptance of belittlement. Having a little bit of decency and decorum when you don't get your way is the bare minimum. I'm so tired of debating this. I keep saying that this thread isn't about what happened. I already admitted, in the beginning of this thread, I was out of line. I admitted that. Multiple times. And I still stand by my reply. If you're short, crass, rude, belittling, whatever... in ANY scenario, someone is usually going to respond the same way or worse. I also said, that there was no way for me to apologize, and that per instructions of the message I got, when blocked, I was basically S.O.L. But because you guys keep bringing it up, Lets use your example of a store: I come in. I praise your store. Say its the best. And while you read a paper, giving me very little acknowledgement, I ask multiple questions, hoping for a polite, or even respectful response. Without looking up from your paper you just say "NO"... which... doesn't even make sense to some of the questions I asked. In fact, its a rude way of saying "I'm not going even humor you to even explain anything other than NO" ... yeah... I'd call you out for being a rude prick too. Sure. You could throw me out. But it doesn't make you in the right. Owning a store doesn't give you the right to be rude. Now...before everyone has kittens about my hypothetical scenario: Did I over-read his response? Who knows. He didn't reply, or even allow me to PM him. He just blocked me and moved on. That's some pretentious bs. Just because you can invent a hypothetical scenario that may or may not actually happen does not mean that the system is broken. The potential for something to be abused is never an acceptable reason to just get rid of it entirely. Otherwise there'd be no internet because by God the internet has been abused to hell and back but its usefulness far outweighs any crazy scenarios people might come up with to justify shutting it down. So it is with the block function. It's infinitely more useful to us mod authors and that usefulness outweighs your butthurt. Simple as that. Look... there are answers to any given problem. And its never usually black or white. Like maybe rules, or stipulations on how blocking works? Maybe not have the intimidating auto-response when you get blocked? I will post, again, what pops up when you're blocked: “The author of this mod has blocked your access to this file. This is not an error with the site and the Nexus staff will not get involved with unblocking your access, so do not contact the moderation team for help. Accessing an author's mod page is a privilege, not your right. You can try to amicably resolve this issue with the mod author, if they'll let you, but be warned: if you are rude or break our terms of service when contacting the mod author and they report you it's extremely likely you will be banned completely from these sites. Is it worth it? You decide.” This message is a deterrent. In fact, the moment I read it I was like "holy crap... I don't want banned...". If instead, there was a link to a moderator, or a whatever, that allowed you to make right a wrong, that would be different. But making a system, where I couldn't apologize, or remedy the problem, regardless who is right or wrong, is a broken system. Imagine I had done nothing wrong, or had no idea what I did to get blocked?? There would be no way to remedy the situation, and I might be intimidated by reaching out, because of the message above. Now, since you guys think I'm crazy, I would gladly provide a link to a forum outside the nexus, which talks EXACTLY about this issue (the block button) here on the nexus. I won't post the link, because I don't know if that's breaking any of the forum rules... (it's unclear in the terms) but if Robin, or one of the moderators say its cool, i'll post in this discussion. Look-I'm not just stirring the water because I'm butthurt. Or any other made up asssumption by some of the posters in this thread. I legitimately believe that the way it is set up now, is broke. Simple tweaks, wouldn't only make the system work as intended, but also allow those who misuse the block, or those who feel they'd like to remedy the block thrown at them, or been unfairly blocked, more possible. For starters- That message above is not cool. A: it automatically puts fault on the person who was blocked. B: its states, right off the bat that the website won't get involved (which proves a moderator who posted on this thread earlier, wrong) C: it belittles mod users by making the claim that you basically have no rights and that you're at the whim of the mod author... regardless if its true or not its cringy and unnecessary. I have a hard time believing that users here feel that these mods are expected or that users feel entitled. Maybe I'm wrong here? D: Lastly, it states you can try to remedy it on your own, but that if you don't walk on glass, you could be banned... I don't understand how nobody here... sees any of this...
  9. ...so... payment for mods is acceptance of belittlement to the puny user? Should I bow or curtsy to the thrones of modders? This comment, explicably proves my point, flawlessly. Thank you. On that... I'm out. Date night tonight. You all have a wonderful night.
  10. I'm seeing a growing trend here. Look: A wrong action does not void all future opinions or rational logic. Am I butthurt about being blocked? Absolutely. But the act itself brought up questions for me. Legitimate questions. Regardless of what happened. But hey... I don't want to anger, the ever growing mob here...
  11. That doesn't make you very old. I'm 32 and I used MySpace briefly while I was at university. I don't consider myself that old. Proof that forums and their patrons will literally argue about anything. Lol. Im 39. I'm reminded by my kids how old that is everyday. HAha. I already explained our reasoning for the language, which you've ignored. In terms of the block tool, in this case, I'd say "working and being used exactly as intended" would be the correct answer. I didn't see a real response to that. Only, that you want it that way, Which is fair. You make the rules. But my point still stands. Its cherry picking content. You called another mod author a dick, but, let's just recap so we're under no illusions here: aphilionquote.PNG A mod author didn't want to port his mod to console, so you called him a dick. And that has sparked all...this...whatever this is. Sure, you've admitted it was "crummy", but to come here and start such a debate when that is what sparked it is amusing, to say the least. Thanks for posting that! See. I didn't stretch the truth at all. This almost verbatim what i posted. But if you can look at this and be like "the mod authors totes fine..." then it may say a little something about elitism going on here. And yes, I already admitted that that was the catalyst. But that doesnt invalidate my point. I'll explain.... So lets remove me from the whole thing (since nobody here can remove the villain from the logic) and speak hypothetically: The only rule I found pertaining to the block tool is that a person must comment on your mod. THATS IT. So, hypothetically: I post a mod. Someone comments, and I don't like their tone. I block them. Someone asks a question I don't like, or that's been asked already. How dare them! I block them. Someone comments, and I hate their avatar picture. I block them. Someone, brings up a constructive critique to the mod. It angers me. I block them. Someone comments and I don't like their name. Blocked. Someone brings up that my mod is either broken, or it broke their game. It embarrasses me. I block them. Someone was blocked by one of my friends, who was a "jerk" to them. I wait for them to comment on my mod, so I too can block them. They do. I block them. Are we seeing the trend yet? Unless... I'm missing some detail? This. function. is. broken. Now-assumed this overpowered function, happens to you. The message you receive is one of belittlement, and a warning that "if you continue this you could get permanently banned".... what??? That kind of warning would deter most users from any type escalation. Even unwarranted blocks. Which, again, is not cool. If someone abuses the block function, any rational person might move on without moderation, for fear of being banned from this great website. You're telling me... you don't see my point AT ALL. I don't believe that. Regardless if my circumstance was warranted or not. Speaking of- I don't regret my response at all. Yes, he's not entitled to give me any respect, answers or any response. It's his mod. But if you are rude to people, especially after they praise you, people get bitter and respond poorly. Which, I did. From an objective view one can see the MA was being short and seemingly rude. how about "thanks for the compliment, but no I'm not ok with that, nor do I need to explain why..." Unless there's some elitism going on here, and somehow, I owe him my belittlement as gratitude for his mod that he shared? No thanks. I may have reacted poorly, but I have some dignity. PS-Robin, I'm kind of butthurt you ignored my compliments on your website. Debate aside, I was being sincere. This website is amazing, and I'm super proud to be a member. Your mod manager is insanely useful and a great free tool. It makes the whole process easier. But I guess you're sidetracked by defending your site? So let me be as clear as possible: I love nexus. I really do. But the block function, and the message that comes with it? Broken. And the profanity thing? I think its a silly rule. It's like omitting cuss words from a porno. Lol. (yes some of the mods here are that extreme)... You don't see the irony there?
  12. The vultures circle. It's ok. First things first.
  13. Old, tiresome tactics. That’s all I keep reading. It’s why I don’t miss MySpace forums (yes I’m that old). “Let’s pick apart a posters sentences, in an attempt to invalidate the posters point, instead of reading and understanding what the individual is actually trying to say.” It’s a tactic to get the person to spend more time defending small aspects of their sentences, instead of defending their actual opinion. Redirection. So instead of responding to each of these redirective comments; I’m going to stand by my OC. At least until a relevant rebuttal is made: the block tool is too easy and overpowered. People should engage each other in a social environment. Even those perceived as rude or, or ungrateful. Because intentions can be confused, especially in a digital environment. Blocking someone should be the last line of defense for someone: not the first line. Also, as my headline stated (which I don’t understand why it’s an issue anyways), I find the specific terms, geared at profanity, to be somewhat curious and hypocritical. I’m not saying people should be calling people curse words or using hateful speech. But using profanity is not only an adult tool, it’s a useful one which can be entertaining and fun. But, it’s not my site. I’m not the one making the rules. But per the forum group, is this not the place to ask about the rules or terms? Can we not discuss them here without painting me as a “jerk”? Because so far, all I see are people painting me some kind of villain. And that’s bs. I’m asking ligetimate questions and making legitimate points. I already preemptively admitted that my comment to the MA was crummy. I’m in no way validating my actions. What I am saying, is that that situation put a sour taste in my mouth about control mechanisms and elitism, and it’s seemingly a device that almost always puts the MA in the right, regardless of what the situation is. And though, mod users should be grateful and or respectful to authors, that’s doesnt mean people need to kiss butt, or walk on glass just to use mods. As someone who’s always rebelled against stringent rules, and Unnecessary control devices, I find tools like this overtly abusive. It takes a whole ten minutes search on google to find other conversations like this. And I cannot be the only user here, feeling that the block ability is one that is overpowered and misused... nor will I submit my integrity, just because I’m being gained up on. So, I’ll wait patiently for an educated rebuttal or a reasoning for the easiness of the block tool, the rude and belittling message after being blocked, and a rational explanation and clean language in a site riddled full of dirty mods. (Not that I care. But that’s the hypocrisy).
  14. "Oh...now look what you've done. You get blocked, good sir..." (said in a whiny terrified voice) *If nobody finds this humorous or even mildly funny... I'm going to be very disappointed. Lol.
  15. And don't judge me... I'm not ashamed of sticking up for myself. Nor am I going to tip-toe around modders. Yes, there's some great stuff out there, and I'm very grateful. Hell, I hope to be publishing my first mod very soon (for those who are curious: realistic tattoo designs, sleeves and backpieces, all interchangeable at character creation, and designed by me...for fallout 4...yes...it will be dope...) and I'm sure I'll have my fair share of nonsensical exchanges. But I'm not going to cower behind a block button because of an inferior god complex. "Oh...now look what you've done. You get blocked, good sir..." (said in a whiny terrified voice)
  16. The intention of this thread wasn't to get validation on whether I should've been blocked or not. If it were, I would've posted the story initially, and titled it that. I didn't. And I preemptively said I admitted my response was untactful, to say the least. Yet, in my opinion warranted. If you're rude to people, you're going to get rude responses. Blocking someone for being a "jerk" is subjective nonsense. I don't think gamers should tip-toe around MA's in fear of being blocked. I would like to think that "blocking" someone from not using ANY of your mods EVER (nor further correspondence), should be based on extreme circumstances. Most everything else? Stiffen up. Be like "Hey thats not necessary!". Something. Instead of cowering behind a block button. Being a member of deviant art for over a decade, I've had my share of rude comments on my work. I've never in my life blocked someone. So I'll say again, the initial, and consistent reason for this thread is to express my disdain for the over-ease of the block button, the lack of repeal of said thing, and the warning that further escalation could get you permanently banned. And as a side note, yes, my observation of the terms, specifically, profanity and its hypocrisy considering the subject of some of the mods and the game itself.
  17. “The author of this mod has blocked your access to this file. You decide.” Doesn't leave me a lot of options. Now... In the MA's defense, I did call him a dick. Let me elaborate: I praised his mods, stating that they are the best player homes available. I then said, I play mostly on XBOX, and was curious why he was so against posting on bethesda, and if he/she would reconsider, or let me or someone else port them. He replied: NO Yeah. After praising him, and then politely asking him a simple question, it would've been nice to be treated with a little more respect. Like I said, I've hung out with rockstars who treat people better (not an ego thing, just making a point again). Where I come from, his response was rude as hell, and not only that, it didn't offer any explanation. Not that they needed to give me one. But politeness goes a long way, especially after someone rubs your ego. So I said something to effect of "so not only do you make amazing player homes, you're also a dick. Thanks for the clarification". Lol. Maybe it was a little unwarranted. We all have bad days... but he not only blocked me, but he also blocked any ability to message him, which if I could've I would've probably apologized. He may be rude, but he makes cool mods. But after researching the terms, and also being completely dumbfounded by the message of being blocked, I wondered if the language is what lead him to the blockage. But then I read, "as long as you post on their mod, they can block you..." which lead me to make tis thread. Because, yes these MA's don't have to share their hard work-- but if you're that thin skinned... maybe don't put yourself in public. I don't know... I admit I could be completely in the wrong with that. I'm secure enough to admit fault. But it doesnt change my thoughts on the OC. Overpowered block tool. Cherry picked terms. Like I said, some of these mods are a pedo's wet dream... which is super gross and offensive (I believe it was actually on the skyrim mod link "beautiful children" or something like that... YUCK!) but my annoyance made me realize how ridiculous it was not to cuss on an presumed adult website... And I honestly didn't know I'd catch the owners attention. From what I've read, Nexus bans and you don't get to come back. My pride isn't worth that. But neither is my integrity. The block tool is broken. And there should be a disclaimer in the forums stating that people may use adult language. As long as its not hate language or overtly offensive (like f*** you). I can assume moderators can handle that sort of thing. I don't know. Now I feel bad because I'd like to praise Nexus and its owner for being mostly a great website. The Nexus mod program is the jammy jam. But this? This really bothers me. enough to create a forum (which in 9 years I've never done). In 9 years I've never been blocked or had any trouble.
  18. As a self-professed "intelligent" person (and, I assume, humble as well?), can you explain the correlation between swearing and nudity you think exists? Ps- you're the owner? Or is someone posting with your name? If so, may I add as a person who has frequented your site for almost ten years: Bravo. For 9 years I have been completely enthralled and I sometimes (recklessly) spend waaaaay to much time perusing the nexus looking at the dope mods. It's a wonderful site, and a gift to gamers... Albeit the OC I was complaining about. Not wanting to kss your butt, but this place is awesome... but the block feature? Way too easy for modders. And the message that comes up was not only belittling, it's unnecessary and... well, putting ma's in the stance of "in the right" automatically. Especially when I couldn't even message the author to even ask why I was blocked... or to apologize.
  19. As a self-professed "intelligent" person (and, I assume, humble as well?), can you explain the correlation between swearing and nudity you think exists? This is why I'm not a fan of forums... people attempt, poorly may I add, to pick apart statements or pieces of posts, as if picking apart things that have nothing to do with the OC, somehow invalidates the OC. It doesn't. That being said: I draw exceptionally well. Does that mean I'm not allowed to admit what I do well? It's no secret that I draw. A lot. Its my career. And it's not vain to agree with objective observation. Why would thought process or intelligence be different? I was merely proving a point. I'm intelligent, and I cuss a lot. Cussing does not denote a lack of intelligence or control. It's merely another form of expression. A very, very useful one. And me being humble, or pretentious, is irrelevant to the convo. Correlation? Sex. Violence. Nudity. Swearing. All adult topics. If you put your big boy pants on and download a sweet pair of titties to watch as you run around your game blowing people up in super slow mo...body parts flying, and then, are harmed by the extreme profanity of an adult word... you're either living in lala land, or (more likely), cherry piking what should and shouldn't be appropriate adult behavior. Which, is exactly my point. It's hypocritical to say the least. Adult themes are adult themes. Its like the backwardness of bethesda: we're going to make a game, with cussing, blood and guts, pillaging monsters and irradiated adult themes... but how dare you put a mod with titties in our game!!! Or Sex!!! Banned!!! The reverse is equally (enter f word)ing stupid. See? When used appropriately, a cuss word can make quite the point. I rest my case.
  20. as a woman... I don't care about objectifying a computer program... which is an object in the first place and making it attractive. seriously that is a whole different "issue" it's not that we care about people swearing we care about how people use profanity. in the case you mentioned where it is used as a means to put emphasis on things the ban is more to block out jerks who want to insult others. as this is a written environment and not a vocal one where swearing is actually a good quick way to express your point you don't need the ability to swear. write it out without profanity and you will be fine. sure people have thin skins... but who cares? that is natural. in this written environment you have zero need to use profanity and can make due without it. ... but... nevermind gonna pass on this part LadyMilla is mistaken, and deviating from the OC. As a woman, you don't have to care. Your care doesn't conflict with the blatant hypocracy of A=good B=bad, when both a and b could be viewed as inappropriate and or offensive. As far as cussing or not cussing- all you need to do to get blocked is to post on their mod. Thats all. No other reason needed. Profanity or not, it wouldn't have mattered. Mr sensitive pants would've blocked me regardless. "Only he has the power"... and I find that weak. Who cares? I do. In a website full of guns, violence, nudes and like I said-- even creepy kid mods... I think profanity should be a little bit more relaxed or sometimes ignored. And the nexus guidelines are somewhat vague anyways from what I could find... it just seems an excuse for the thinskinned to block, ban or report people, that MA's or posters want to complain about. Now I'm not saying there isn't trolls, or just plain... yuck with words... but I think most individuals can tell the difference between cooth and tact with profanity... and a 13 year old dropping the n-word, just because... ...or maybe people don't and that's why I'm confounded.
  21. Yeah yeah... cursing is bad...especially for a mod site that mods a game that ridiculously blows people up into little pieces. And I'm intelligent and I curse. So there you go. Cussing just to cuss and tactful potty mouth are two different things. In fact, the University of Rochester researchers asked 1,000 people about 400 everyday habits — ranging from singing in the shower to swearing — and found potty mouths tend to have higher IQs. Soo there yah go. There's a bunch of articles that say the same. But that's not really what this OC is about.
  22. there is no truth in this saying. also look at it this way. this sites age limit is 13, if you are under 18 you are not allowed to view the nude mods (which are default blocked if I recall right for people under 18) as such censoring the swear words is perfectly reasonable for this case alone. now, of course, I agree with the above statements in that you don't need use profanity at all and I am perfectly happy with a majority of the rules on the site. https://www.sciencealert.com/swearing-is-a-sign-of-more-intelligence-not-less-say-scientists This is literally like one... of dozens of articles, with sources, that say exactly the opposite. So... truth is out there... smart people cuss. and in PG13 movies, the only cuss word you can't sau is FUDGE. (And even then censors will usually allow 1 f-bomb). But A website almost solely dedicated to CBBE and the thousands of skimpy and slutty outfits that objectify women? I refuse... to believe you can't see the hypocrisy there? Like, are we adults or are we not adults? Adults cuss. A lot usually. And chances are, if you're downloading a mod for the pure sake of watching boobies jiggle... you're propably not concerned with someone cussing. Its that thin skin thing. It's pretty obvious at this point I think. We already have this idea that gamers are nerds. Nerds with already weak self images, and insecurities. Nerds who can't take critiques or cussing-- at them. (not my generalizations, just common stereotypes). But nerds who will download big boob mods all day. Because THATS different... ...I digress.
