  1. I have generated a test map for the first time using Nitrogen RWG. I opened the preview folder in the output folder and the colorful map is there, but I don't know what the various building colors mean. Where can I find this information? Thanks.
  2. I am running the latest version of the Show Looks Menu and I use presets downloaded from Nexus. My last few changes to some NPCs have looked fine when I did them but when I return to the game later, the character's face is distorted into a large eyed, pinched faced visage that barely looks like how I left it. Two recent examples are Myra the general trader in Diamond City and to Polly the meat trader in Diamond City. I have attached a picture of Myra but Polly's distortions are the same type. It should be noted that the hair changes made in SLM do stick to the NPC. What am I doing wrong in my use of SLM? Thanks for your help.
  3. I will use my winnings to buy Just Cause 4.
  4. I downloaded and installed Vortex several weeks ago and used it to mod Pillars of Eternity 2 which I have now finished playing. I want to go back to playing FO4 however, when I tried to install a new mod to FO4 this evening the download action brought up Vortex. I don't want to use Vortex to manage my heavily modded FO4 game. How do I get NMM to be the default manager for FO4?
  5. All money winnings will be immediately returned to the economy. I have a long wish list on Steam.
  6. I know that I need item id if I want to manipulate an individual in game using console commands. But I can not get any item or individual ids to show up. Here is what I am doing: 1. Holster weapon. 2. Look at person. 3. Put cursor on person. At this point my cursor turns into box and I can not click anything. I have tried in both 1st and 3rd person views. What am I doing wrong? You would think that someone with 1,000+ hours in Fallout 4 could figure this out, but I am flummoxed (that is your new word of the day). Thanks.
  7. Downloaded ok earlier this morning but quit working after 11:00 DST. When I press the download button now the screen goes grey and nothing is downloaded.
  8. I have Looks Menu and its required files installed using the correct versions of each. It works fine when I am using one of the in-game doctors to change my character's appearance including hairs from various hair mods I have installed. My problem is with the hair for NPCs. I select the NPC, start the looks menu and I can change NPC facial features. However, I can not change the NPC's hair. The only hair option I have is HAIR (all caps) which is found at the very bottom of the "Face" section. When I click on HAIR, the NPC's hair shimers green and a "hair" tool bar appears in the lower middle of the screen with 3 options. These options are: E) style; C) color; Esc) back. When I select "E" I see the various hairs from the installed hair mods but choosing a new style from the list does not change the hair on the NPC. The new style is marked with correctly if I reopen hair but the NPC hair style did not actually change. FYI, my Looks Menu toolbar looks like this: R) PRESETS A) FACE 01 D) there is no text here F) FACE E) EXTRAs B) BODY Enter) DONE I can use presets (jsod files) on an NPC without any problems. Can anyone provide some ideas about what might be causing these NPC Looks Menu hair problems? Is my Looks Menu toolbar displaying correctly? Thanks.
  9. I am looking for an explanation of what the green plus button at the top of the right side of the NMM does. The drop down box offers two selectons; Add Mod from File and Add Mod from URL. When would you ever use these and how would a player use them? Just curious since I have never seen them mentioned in relation to any forum posting I have read. Thanks.
  10. I would like to print a list of the mods I have in use for FO4 at the moment. Is any way to produce such a list, other than writing down the mod names individually? Thanks.
  11. I was finally able to fix the problem. I started by loading an older save - I started with a save more than six hours earlier than most recent save. If I could fast travel after loading that save I quit the game and reloaded the next save up in the list. If I could not fast travel after loading that save I reloaded the next save down in the list. By loading these various saves I finally found one that let me fast travel to anywhere. I that point I said ok and deleted all the broken saves, i.e., the ones newer that the "working properly" save. I have been able to play now for two days without any fast travel problems.
  12. I have 912 hours in play as of today. I am a retired old guy who wrote a 14 page Fallout 4 new players guide on the Fallout 4 Nexus site and a lot of those hours were related to that. I stopped playing my first character after I reached level 100. My second character is at level 86 and I am working toward an alternative ending (I sided with Brotherhood first time through and am going with Railroad this time). I spent a far amount of time in the first play through on settlement development and I have let that slide on second play through. I did however, on second play through finally get a settlement to level 100 happiness (after I got the darn dog from dog seller and built bars everywhere in that settlement). I will tell you with 900 hours of play I actually came across a new location (Edge of the Glowing Sea) so surprises are still possible. Good new quests are welcome regardless of where they occur in the story line as long as they don't betray or spoil the main story line. I just finished completing the quest that released this week (the one by trainwiz) and enjoyed seeing his new areas and now with the release of the Creation Kit I look forward to additional new quests.
  13. I removed all mods added in the last two days and played for more than hour. I was able to fast travel to several locations, however I can not fast travel to Sanctuary. In fact, if I fast travel to Red Rocket and walk toward Sanctuary the game crashes to desktop as I get near the bridge. I did another steam cache integrity check and everything is ok. So what ideas do you clever forum readers have for solving this problem other than abandoning Sanctuary.
  14. Today I started experience regular crash to desktop when fast traveling. To see if it was just fast travel, I also tried console command "player.moveto" and it also crashed to desktop. I performed the "verify integrity of game cache on steam and it reported 8 files as corrupted. It replaced those files and I went back to an earlier save. Everything seemed to be working ok this evening (ok defined as fast travel without problems). Then the crash to desk on fast travel started again. I just completed another "verify integrity of game cache" on steam and it reported 8 files failed to validate. I will replace those again. However, I would like to know what is causing these file validation problems. Yesterday I updated 6 mods I have been using for several weeks to the latest editions. I will work my way through those one at a time to see if one them is causing the fast travel crashes.
  15. Look at this new mod: Scrap Grinder. It is by "isathar". I used it yesterday to scrap more than 200 different types of junk (350 + individual items) and took less than one minute. He is still tweaking it's appearance but it is quick and effective. I am surprised that more people haven't downloaded/tried it several days after it's initial release.
  16. Try this new mod: Scrap Grinder. It is by "isathar". I used it yesterday to scrap more than 200 different types of junk (350 + individual items) and took less than one minute. He is still tweaking it's appearance but it is quick and effective. I am surprised that more people haven't downloaded/tried it several days after it's initial release.
  17. Look at this mod: Legendary Modification. It is by "teaLz". When you breakdown legendary weapons you receive legendary material effect chips that you can then accumulate to use to create learned legendary modifications on your own weapons.
  18. I am trying to figure out why when I start SLM in the console and select an NPC that I want to modify the game will not give me the option to select the part of the face I want to modify. After starting SLM I have the various alphabet options at the bottom of the screen and selecting A multiple times will change the hair and/or skin color. But I get no option to individually select the part of the face or the style of the hair or the color of the hair. My cursor never changes shape from the default arrowhead, when I think I should be getting a circle. I also get no sub-menus when clicking on the face or hair. The same problem exists if I type "SLM player" and try to edit myself. I can change myself at the barber chair but companions and NPC don't have the option to get a haircut!!! What might the source of this problem with SLM? Thanks.
  19. In response to post #34710555. I agree. I visit the site nearly every day (and some times several times a day) and routinely come across mods while doing something else on the site that I never saw on the new mods page.
  20. I think I understand what a base id number and reference id number are. My confusion comes from when I want to add a stand-alone item to my character or to an NPC using the console. If I understand correctly the first two numbers of an base id or reference id correspond to its load order in the game. So if the item I want to add is created by a mod that NMM says is load order 10 I replace the first two digits of the id with "10". Is this correct or am I misunderstanding the load order information in NMM? If I want to add another copy of the item later, but have rearranged the load order in NMM does this change the id number? Thanks.
  21. How about a mod that eliminates all smoking from the game? Replace cigarettes, cigarette packs, cigarette cartons, cigarette machines, cigars, cigar boxes, ashtrays, dirty ashtrays with some other object that returns the same materials. Perhaps condoms.
  22. You might look at Power Armor Delivery by Kentington. It does not do damage but it does get your "forgotten" power armor to you after you go off and leave it by the armor rack after repairing it. Maybe he could modify his mod to provide a damage element to the delivery. Here is a link to the Power Armor Delivery: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7809/?
  23. Carla regularly shows up in Sanctuary and I have to deal with her red-eyed face, shabby outfit, smoking, and bad attitude. How about a mod that replaces Carla with an attractive face, better looking outfit, non-smoker, and no attitude? I know the voice issue is a problem but perhaps the male armor trader's voice-over could be also be used for Carla - at least he doesn't sound like a whiner. I occasionally run into Cricket on the road or she stumbles into Sanctuary. How about a mod that replaces Cricket's drugged out anorexic face with an attractive face and better looking outfit without a head cover? Her attitude is fine!
  24. Thank you for the very quick response and action. I located the "pencil" and now know what to do in the future.
  25. I uploaded my first file onto Nexus last night and after it was posted I realized that because of the file format I should not have selected the box to allow for downloading with NMM. I edited the file information to say the file must be downloaded manually, but the "Download with NMM" button is present on the file page itself. I found no option to permit me to remove the download with NMM button and thus leave only the download manually button. Can the download with NMM button be removed by the file poster? If yes, how? If no, can the site manager remove it for me? Thanks.
