I can see the point here. Three actually does make sense: One point for S.P.E.C.I.A.L. One point for game-play, or "In the Field" perks. One point for supplementary perks like settlement building or lock picking/hacking. But then this also goes back to my whole "The entire perk system needs to be reworked". Becuase if you went down this route, you would want a way to make sure the point only got spent on what it was supposed to. So like a "S.P.E.C.I.A.L." perk can ONLY be spent on putting points towards your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

disappointed with lack of Power armor
neonie replied to mastertenerife's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It's what the current set is designed for, yes. But whose to say modders can't design power armor for a different purpose? A thiner, sleeker power armor could be designed for a different purpose and it's drawbacks could be different from regular power armor. As for what the suit can't just be a normal suit that's not power armor, and why it needs fusion cores: The information readout could help with sneaking. The fusion core could allow for a short movement speed boost. The fusion core allows for the stealth field to be deployed. The fusion core could allow for higher jumping to be part of the mod, allowing you to bypass certain dungeons or make it to the top of buildings that normally require a lot of climbing. There are any number of reasons why this can't just be a non-fusion core powered suit. However, I would love if that was also an option. Just a normal, cloth ninja suit that bolstered sneak and had a sick scarf would be rad. But we also need the tantou and katana to go with it  (Extra points if you hold the tantou in reverse grip.) -
Try setting out a chair and waiting until around 10ish and 6ish to 10ish? I'm not sure the exact times but basically every morning and every night the Couriers return and leave depending on what settlement their from and which one you told them to go to. Just wait an hour and see if they show up. You're going to have to find out where the "Entrance" or "Exit" to your settlement is though.

It didn't force you into a role. It didn't force it's characterization down your throat. It gave you dialogue options and actions to facilitate a great number of play-styles and characters. You were the Mother F***ing Courierâ„¢ and it was up to you to decided what that meant. Whether you wanted to be The Feared, The Calvary or The Unknown. Fallout 3 you weren't as forced into a role as Fallout 4 but it felt more aimless. I was hard pressed to find a reason to want to wander the waste in the first place. In Fallout 4, no matter how powerful you are, the dialogue just makes you out to be some stirred up wimp who is upset they lost their baby the player only saw for like three seconds before the bomb dropped. It assumes a level of attachment they didn't earn. Sure, from a gameplay perspective, Fallout 4 is great. But if you actually wanted to care about the story or your character it sucks hard. And I really don't like the response "But you can just ignore it." or "I already forgot about them.". That's not an excuse for the bad story options and forced role. It's an easy out for the developer. It's not a good defense. "Sure just ignore this entire part of the game that was created because it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks."

Saints Row 4 was a great power fantasy game and a terrible Saints Row game. Fallout 4 is a great First Person Shooter and a terrible Fallout game. You really can't actually roleplay a character. The dialogue options just aren't there for you. They don't exist. You can't really be whoever you want to be. They've strictly defined your character. Running around the wasteland, sneaking and shooting people in the head and collecting magazines in a blast. So I guess what it comes down to, is you either accept it for what it is, and what it can do, or you just can't get over the idea of the name alone. It's a different game, for sure, and hopefully one day we can get a better, -actually Fallout- game like New Vegas. Either way I can understand how and why someone who enjoyed the RPG elements of previous Fallout games would be very disappointing with this, but I've sort of just made my peace with it and accepted what it is.

Serious question: What's with all of the Nazi mods?
neonie replied to FlyingHigh10000000's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'm sorry but what you're saying here is actually worse than censorship. Your purposefully making assumptions and declaring that you think action should be taken on what you think might be the case, with no real evidence or citation to back up those claims. You can't prove authorial intent without the creators exact statements. "I'm willing to bet" is not a grounds for punishment. -
disappointed with lack of Power armor
neonie replied to mastertenerife's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It's interesting to know that those mods exist for the current power armor but yeah... ... Like even if it mechanically worked... There's no way I could ever FEEL sneaky in the current suit xD. It just doesn't make sense in my head to be sneaking around in that big clunky tank lol. -

What would be really cool is a skin tight suit of power armor, that, instead of increasing Endurance and Strength, increased Perception and Agility, and it's modifications focused on Stealth and Melee. -
Oh man if anyone knows or you figure this out I would love to try it. It sounds like a fascinating experience to not have them aggro and to be able to try exploring the world as one of them.

Dude, Boom, spoilers man. -
How do you know exactly how many programmers there are with a very specific kind of degree and whether or not they would be looking for jobs when Bethseda went to hire people for this task? Are you omnipotent?

The keyboard layout is based on the idea of having to learn the layout. This harkens back to the days of the typewriter, where they realized that if you put the letters in alphabetical order the keys wore out to quickly because people were able to use it too efficiently. You're only suppose to learn the layout after repeated use. It's not made for "right-handers" in the first place. It's not made for ANY handers. That's why left handed keyboards don't exist, because it's has nothing to do with your hand strength in the first place. All mirror imaging the keyboard would do is confuse people even more, because that's just a NEW set of scrambled letters they have learn. And the arrow keys are very rarely used for gaming nowadays anyway, so the idea of making entire keyboards to move them to the other side is kind of silly. They do, however, have mice that have buttons on the side, which could probably theoretically be used for movement and such.

Unexpected raider encounter, they do have emotions
neonie replied to Gilibran's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
You can't. They instantly aggro if you get close. I stood there for a second or two not attacking with my gun holstered. It only ended in him turning around, seeing me, and starting to attack. Which is really lame since they could have used that to show off their "stand down" system, which I still have yet to see the game ever materialize in any useful fashion. So instead I killed that guy and took all his stuff and took all the stuff of person in the grave. -
What's with the disturbingly large amounts of nazi mods?
neonie replied to OddballE8's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
The super mutants already have suicide bombers don't they? So the AI for that already exists in the game lol. Anyway yeah, if someone wanted to play the game with these changes I really don't see the problem at all. Actually the idea of mods based on viewed and messed up things in history can go some really interesting places: What about a Vietnam style mod that added in the effects of Agent of Orange and made it so sometimes children came up to you to talk, but would eventually explode because WHOOPS they had a bomb you couldn't see strapped to them and now you're dead. Every once in a while hallucinations would trigger on your character, they wouldn't be able to do very much damage and completely disappear AS you were shooting at them, and while all of this is going on, your companion can't interfere and instead just goes "What the hell are you doing?!" -
Isn't that obvious? To be a sexy tank

This. Let people do and be who they want in a fictional environment. It's not hurting anyone. -
Infinite quests - Same locations over and over again
neonie replied to Nefiji's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
That can't be the case if you consider how god awful the whole Settlement Building aspect of the game is and how much work it needs. If that IS the case than jesus christ that's some top tier incompetence. -

what? im just trying to get people attention i dont know what your problem It's obnoxious and spammy and extremely poor forum etiquette. It would be like walking into a restaurant and screaming "I AM HUNGRY PLEASE GIVE ME SOME FOOD." You don't need to "get peoples attention." People will see it, and whether or not people choose to respond to it is up to them. I actually agree Nick needs a retexture, but I can't support at all the way you've gone about asking this here. Learn to respect the people the you are trying to talk to and ask things of.

On Topic: Patch notes would be nice. ---- On Arrow Keys: If you have an actual purpose for using arrow keys like being left handed, that is one thing and understandable concern. Since your mouse and set up is also probably on the other side and in reverse. If you are just an old foggy who is stuck in their old ways because "That's how we used to play Quake and Doom" I have zero sympathy for you. If you refuse to use the easier control scheme because you can't wrap your head around the idea of and refuse to try WASD, then you are literally just making things harder on your self for no reason. My 40+ year old father was like that once and when I finally got him to TRY WASD he went "OH! THIS ACTUALLY WORKS A LOT BETTER!" Don't gimp your self for no reason.

Eh, sure, but why the stigma towards console use especially when the games modding tools aren't even out? Because it completely skips over the core issue and the point of modding. Console commands are great for a "one time fix" but often that isn't the point of a Mod idea or Request at all. This person isn't asking to place a settlement ONCE, they are asking for an intuitive system for placing settlements period. The console commands take you completely out of the experience, aren't intuitive whatsoever, and often make one feel like they are cheating, even if you think the commands you are using should be part of the core game. Here's an example: I think the Perk system is completely broken. I think the idea of hiding game mechanics behind skill walls is absurd. I think it needs to be completely retooled and reworked to ONLY be the perks that give your character gameplay related bonuses or boosts and NOT included any of the weapon crafting or settlement building perks. I can (somewhat) fix this problem by opening the console and giving my self the perks having to deal with settlement building and weapon modding. That is not a permanent solution for what I would ultimately want out of the game. There are two HUGE problems with this: One: You have to look up every single code for every single level in every single perk you want and manually type it in. This is exhausting, and works ONCE, for ONE CHARACTER, on ONE PLAYTHROUGH, and if I ever came back to the game to start fresh I would have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. Two: Not every perk dealing with these systems is separated from other in game bonuses, requiring me to ACTUALLY CHEAT if I want to fix my problem. A good example of this is cap collector. You need cap collector perks to set down certain buildings, but it also gives you boosts when selling and buying things at merchants. You can't use the console to fix or separate those two things from each other. The console is a band-aid. It's a temporary, one time fix for a permanent problem or set of problems. Here's a question pertaining to the original post: You can open the console to give your self a workbench. Does setting it down allow you to define the parameters of the settlement in an easy to understand fashion? Does it create a fast travel point on the map so you can easily come back to it later? What about trade routes? Apparently those are predefined by the game and the AI uses specific pathing to know where it can travel, which means the places you can put the workbench for them to work effectively would probably still need to be defined by the pathing network so you can't place a bench in an area Provisioner NPC's can't get to. Just opening the console and giving your self a workbench doesn't actually fix this problem to begin with. If the mod can't be done until the GECK comes out, then by all means tell someone the mod can't be done until the GECK comes out, but I think answering a mod request or idea with "Just do it in the console" is a crappy thing to say to someone that ignores the purpose of mods and what they do to and for game play, and actually sort of belittles the actual work and effort that goes into creating actually intuitive systems for solving in-game problems.
