Hi, thank you for your response - most informative Yep, indeed I have installed the game on an SSD. I have also installed this fine load accelerator that (on my end) immensly decreases loading times when fast travelling or entering another „cell“. Nonetheless, although running the said mod I experienced those fps drops and stuttering everywhere in the game until I set the Win graphic options for FO 4 to „not use auto hdr“.

Ancient thread, I know, anyway, I had the same issue – poor fps (between 20 and 40) with an I9, 64 GB ram and a 4090 – playing on Win 11 and a HDR monitor (1440) … This worked on my end: Win 11 Settings, Games, Graphics, Fallout 4 options: Select/tick „do not use auto hdr“. Since then consistent frame rate (60 fps) everywhere in the game.

Modding the DVD retail version once worked for me (already before the Steam version was released), but that time I used Fallout Mod Manager - FOMM v12.6 (this version is not available anymore, later versions should work fine as well): https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20107?tab=files FOSE (often a requirement for mods) also supports the DVD version - https://fose.silverlock.org/ No idea, if Vortex works with FO 3 DVD retail version. Currently the same issue here only with Chrome browser (up to date) – except logging in via the incognito feature. Issue suddenly occurred although I have not changed any settings or added any further extensions for a while.
