  1. In response to post #55724561. I find white on black to be one of the worst combinations. On my calibrated display, the current white on warm gray is quite pleasant. Maybe include a calibration page for people with incorrectly adjusted monitors? That might improve their game experience as well.
  2. The bottleneck could be the disk interface. Skyrim was glacially slow on my old (2010) computer, even with an Intel SSD. That was a Gigabyte Opteron-equipped MB with 8 GB. With my new Asus ROG / Core i7-4770 / 32GB / Samsung SSD 840 pro it is fast even with all the best textures I can find. An EVGA GTX 770 takes care of framerates at 2560x1440, but the load times are probably due to faster SATA-ports on the motherboard and a 5% bus overclock. As a bonus the whole thing runs much cooler than my old system.
  3. Finally found it! It was a program that came with my new Asus ROG motherboard - Sonic Radar. Has no function in a game like Skyrim, so I do not know why it got activated. Anyhow, thanks for the help. It was only because I was rummaging through the installed stuff in Win 8 that I noticed an icon just like my problem. By the way, Win 8 is noticeably more efficient than Win 7 on the same hardware.
  4. I do not understand what you mean by that. I am running full-screen (Windows 8 pro, GTX 770 @ 2560x1440, newest drivers for everything). I am not aware of any Windows side bar or any setting for it.
  5. It is registered, but currently I run with Steam offline. Did not make any difference, though.
  6. I put off getting Skyrim until I got a new computer (and made do with Oblivion and Morrowind in the meantime), but now I got the boxed "legendary edition". It installed without problems and runs fine at maxed quality, but there is one thing I am unable to get rid of. I have a big clock dial with no hands just below my target pointer / sneak eye. I have tried to google for solutions, but do not get any relevant hits. The thing does not seem to have any function, and it comes on already on the load screen before I click "Continue". I have tried a couple of UI mods to unclutter my display, but they do not affect it. It is not affected by the opacity setting either.
