  1. In response to post #24783529. #24783794, #24784034 are all replies on the same post. Entitled assholes? I've been modding for about 8+ years I started with oblivion I moved on to fallout NV and then to Skyrim and while I hate the idea that modders do all this work and get very little or even nothing back from it bothers me something rotten. However I have never had the money to just blow on modding, to this day I can't afford to donate to things when I want too because I think it's right and this mess had the chance to take one of my favorite things away from me. If this had stuck then many of the best mods would be behind paywalls and I would no longer have access to one of my favourite hobbies hell I'm learning to code as we speak so I can get to modding something I've wanted in skyrim for a while. I can't afford to just buy mods especially when they're as expensive as they were which would've meant I couldn't have accessed to the best mods out there. Am I an entitled asshole? Maybe, was I worried and angry that someone could put so little thought into separating me from something I adore? f*#@ing hell yes. If this was really a move for the community they wouldn't have taken such a big cut they would've taken something to help with server maintenance and paying the legal bills of setting it up to begin with. I understand how some people may have been scared off but those people should've thought far more than they apparently did about what they were doing before they did it.
  2. I have three major problems with all of this. The first is the stigma it's going to cause around problems I know how much mods have made games f*#@ing amazing for me and so many new people are going to see this and turn away and not look back I know because I would have I can't afford to be blowing money on mods the base game and DLC are bad enough. The second is that the steam workshop doesn't work, for any game, at all. The number of games I have tried modding using the workshop that have just s#*! themselves and broken down is insane if that ever happened with a paid mod I'd royally kick off. Third is that this is just going to cause one hell of a legal cluster f*#@, people are going to be kick off over IP's stealing content or getting cease and desist orders left right and center. It's going to draw too much attention to the modding community and it's going to really damage the community. Not to mention the fact that valve is seriously ripping off the content creators who should definitely be getting the lions share of the revenue. What valve have done is take a beautiful thing that enhanced and vastly extended the life of games and turned it into a comparatively expensive luxury. What was once (and sorry for being a bit gaudy here) a labor of love for a game you enjoy it now some cash grabbing cluster f*#@ and while I do think creators do deserve something for their games I'd rather it be through add-revenue or donations not a forced pay-wall.
  3. pretty new to the witcher series as a whole and after a few hours of playing I came across lures and thought "great I have something to farm with" expecting them to spawn monsters to fight but they don't they just attract those already in the area which was disappointing so I was wondering would it be possible to change the lure's function so that it forces a specific creature to respawn in an area then attract it? I have no idea whats possible when modding this game so it could very well not be but damned would that be useful >.< make farming a much faster proccess
  4. you've more or less hit the nail on the head with everything there from what I know about modding and the mods I've seen all my ideas SHOULD be possible and with very few conflicts outside of follower quests and maybe the guild location might conflict other mods that add structures (big as skyrim is there are surprisingly few locations for REALLY good player bases currently have 4 house mods making a ring around the throat of the world in my own game) I want to get into modding and if I had come up with his 4 months ago when I had infinite time to just mess with the CK I would get started on this mod myself but I only have about 4 hours in the house a day myself these days and my weekends are all sworn away >.< one day this mod shall be made dammit thanks for your input ^_^
  5. I'm going to start off by saying I have NO illusions about how much work this'd take and im fully aware that its a hell of a big thing to ask and I'd do it myself but if its to be done then it should be done by someone with experience and who actually knows what they're doing. My idea is, simply enough that the dragonborn throughout the story meets dozens of people who would quite willingly follow him to their graves and to the ends of tamriel and though the player can become the leader of several factions none of them really belong to the player they're all long standing things that you neither really lead nor have any real affect on outside of their main quest so my suggestion is this, a new faction founded by the player and their followers that wouldn't just be new perks for the player or a new house but an actual goal something to fight for and work for and a link to all the other factions and quests in the game it'd be a hub for the player and their followers. okay now that I've described the general idea here are my ideas for its actual mechanics and purpose, the faction would start once the player has earned a number of followers (say 3) this doesn't include hired ones and then after a period of time has passed for the player and those followers to bond it could open up a new dialog option with those characters where you can have a conversation that ends with them forming a faction (or alternatively I thought about having a fan type character who comes and finds the player after completing a certain number of quests and suggests forming a faction with the dragonborn as the leader) once the faction is formed the player chooses a location to set up the guild hall (from a list of have a pre-defined location if you want to save yourself some time making the mod) then the player could do a litle hearthfire style building or maybe just have the player pay for it with gold, the guild hall itself would be (when complete) a main hall with a large barracks with enough beds for all followers pluss a few extra for mod added followers, a mess hall for food, servants quaters, player quarters, trophy room (perhaps with special trophies earned form completing major quest lines for example a scale from alduin or harkons vampire armour), an armoury, then things like an alchemy lab and an enchanting lab and a training room obviously add your own ideas another possible addition would be an embassy so ambassadors from other factions your a part of can contact you these would probably have to be new NPC's to avoid conflicts but they could for example give you and reward you for radiant quests to save traveling to the individual guild halls and perhaps also provide you with some of those guilds benefits so an ambassador from the mages guild can supply soul gems and staffs while an ambassador from the thieves guild could supply stealth potions and leather gear and one from say the dawnguard (which would have to be a module) would provide crossbows and crossbow bolts and maybe some dawnguard weapons?(you could also have one if you chose to join harkons vampires that sold blood potions and that kind of thing) One of the main ideas around the mod and thats that the faction would be a hub for quests, people would come or send word when they needed help from the dragonborn and this would mean the player as soon as they reach the requirements for a quest would recieve word at their guild hall from a steward type NPC informing the player that say "a museum dedicated to the crimson dawn has opened in dawnstar and I've heard rumours that the propieter has fragments of a daedric artefact perhaps you should investigate?" that kind of alfred the butler dutifully informing his master of where he is needed. obviously you'd need to make it so the player could order followers to move into the hall which could only be done if theres enough beds and maybe even send them out to do radiant quests and bounties to bring in a bit of extra gold? and have an assassins creed style power where you can temporarily call in a random selection of followers once a day to help you for a short while? I'd also suggest making this with the idea of it being used with UFO and convenient horses? since they're extremely commonly used both fit the theme of the player having a proper faction? oh and as a final suggestion perhaps make it possible for dead followers to be replaced? have a NPC come maybe even using all the same sound assets to take their place?XD just because loosing all your followers sucks </3 OR have any followers that "die" appear in a medical wing of the guild hall and have to do a short fetch quest to get something that can heal them? I dunno so yeah thats my idea if you read all that thank you and I pray to god that someone with some damned good modding skills decides to use it! :D
  6. I myself am obsessed with panthers (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fc/Jaguar.jpg/220px-Jaguar.jpg) incase you don't know what im talking about theres a link but they're awesome I'd love if someone could make one I've seen a retexture of a sabre cat to look like one and it wasn't very good but I can't imagine a full model would be too hard to make and if not theres a few modders resources with cat models just scale one of those up a little and make it black XD still it would be much appreciated and would make a good addition to the masses of companion mods out there
  7. I modded oblivion a little back in the day and I want to get into modding skyrim and I find the best way to do that (for me personally anyway) is to start a big project and so I had a think and came of with an idea would it be possible to have the players equipped armor and race change the model of a werewolf transformation? I know how complicated this would be were it possible and how many different models would be necessary for each piece of armor what I want to know is if that's possible to do using skyrims engine? I was thinking about the skin and fur influenced by the race for example white/grey for nords and a light brown for high elves and then something like a charcoal color for imperials and then have armor plates and such depending on their armor on each part of their body while the textures of that armor being dependent on the chest piece and a default outfit for when the armor isn't recognized (modded armor and the like) anyway tell me what you think in terms of possibility and if so I will get started as soon as possible
  8. it does indeed look identical to that buuuuuut that option isn't active at least im almost positive it isn't for some reason my ATI catalyst control center is now AMD vision control center I dunno when that happenedbut they're not that different and according to that my AA is set to multi-sampling mode not adaptive however turning the adaptive mode on made the graphic problem slightly worse EDIT: okay had to set my graphics settings to low but I got rid of it odd with 700+mb of graphics memory I should be able to run it on medium atleast without problems but I don't mind poor graphics I just HATE lag
  9. I download tytanis for the first time today and since downloading it I've had a weird pixel bug where ever I go I've been looking for a while and haven't come across any other bugs like it I've got a lot of other mods installed and I could also post a list but I tried deactivating them all and it didn't change anything (that said if it was to do with the textures then maybe deactivating the mod won't stop them from being used im not sure) but yes please help its driving me crazy if anyone would like screen shots I can email them to you
  10. Handofbane? your kidding me?! you haven't crashed yet? XD I crashed for the first time when I got to riverwood didn't even come up with an error message just *blink* closed and I crash fairly regularly maybe its specific to the steam version?
  11. for the record anyone who complains about the key bindings for the mouse its the exact same as it was for oblivion right mouse is block and left is attack its only confusing if you use dual wield weapons or magic but yeah I agree with everyone mainly the UI the map and the damned buggy mouse needs fixing but please bare in mind that the games just came out it is going to be updated and the best thing about bethesda is that they give us the tools to customize the game to our hearts content
  12. at the moment I saw this? 32 hours I was playing since about 10 minutes past midnight cause I got it on steam? and ive had a cold so I haven't slept much so yeah... :3
