  1. In response to post #55275203. #55281988, #55283213 are all replies on the same post. After avidly waiting months for signs of life from the news section, I went from joy to dismay at all the wince-worthy posts about the redesign. It has been clearly stated that it is a work in progress, that the underlying code will be tweaked, and after Vortex is finally in a good place, then attention will be lavished on the site again. Thank you for expressing what should be obvious to those of us who love and support this free site that helps enhance and expand our relationships with so many of the games we love. I personally see this site - and our talented/motivated modders - providing a sanctuary from the microtransaction filled future that so many developers are foisting upon us. You all provide ways to ever more personalize our experience to precisely our own tastes, and enable my gaming lifestyle! Thanks to the team for all your hard work, and kudos to you, twowolves80, for your dose of civility! - E
  2. In response to post #44387555. Well, there's a lot of words I wasted! I should have asked you for advice on my setup. If I may suggest downgrading to an earlier version and making a bug report? I gather that this line of NMM is going the way of the 5x line, so stick to a version that you know works - unless you are also playing SE. Like I said, 63.3 or earlier still listed it when I repurchased the game two weeks ago. Either way, feel your pain on this one. Cheers, and hope my advice helps you or anyone else revisiting that masterpiece! - E
  3. In response to post #44279340. Queenofthesilence: Been modding a new Morrowind setup for the past 2 weeks, while waiting several months for the dust to settle in Skyrim mod country. I can confirm that 63.3 does in fact search for and find Morrowind - even if I had to manually point to the directory after a clean install. Seems to be working as intended. Can not comment on the 63.6 version, as NMM crashes whenever I try to upgrade it, and the ability to log into the Nexus and download mods directly has been spotty at best for weeks now. As to modding, many, if not most, of the best mods for Morrowind were not designed for NMM, with a lot of the recommended mods in S.T.E.P., BtB recommendations, and MSGO not even on the Nexus. My recommendation is to download your mods manually (yes, it kinda sucks with the connection issues right now), and repackage all but the ones with installers to work with NMM. This means 1. decompressing them, 2. make sure they are in the right order in terms of directories (e.g. you might decompress and just find an ESP, the texture/mesh folders, or even just a collection of texture files) - you may have to create a data, texture, or mesh folder within that to contain the mod, 3. use something like 7zip to re-archive, 4. and then send to NMM to install. Considering that much of the best stuff I have come across are new textures or meshes, reading carefully about what order to install is key. Even S.T.E.P. is a little fuzzy on what works together, requires a patch, or which part of a mod to leave out. This method, although a pain up front, saved me massive headaches in terms of resolving conflicts by easily allowing me to back out one mod at a time, see the impact, and reinstall as needed. Sorry for the off topic advice, and hope I answered your question. Honestly wish I knew this stuff when I started a few weeks ago! - E
  4. Came for the Fallout 3, stayed for the rest of the Fallout and TES series of games. This site took me down the rabbit hole, and I have spent as many of the thousands of hours modding/breaking/researching/tweaking as I have playing these games that I love. But even better than the mods themselves, the efforts of you, your staff and volunteers, have created a unique space for modders and their fans to have some of the most civil, passionate, and intelligent discussions I have seen in gaming. From the modders - who brave entitlement and petty complaints, yet keep coming back and sometimes supporting their mod for years after a favorite game has been published - to the scores of helpful individuals, often answering questions over and over for those too lazy to search on their own! So congratulations - and thank you - Dark0ne, on staying in the game long enough to turn your passion into ours, and creating this codependent community that continues to grow. Onward and upward! - E
  5. Although my mod-Q has been raised significantly thanks to the Skyrim mod community - patchers, script editors, character editors, merging/cleaning/bashing etc. - I have always been way too intimidated to move to MO or the NMM alpha. Despite having to "translate" the steps shown in many YouTube vids, forum posts and the Jenga tower that is STEP into NMM, I always felt more secure in the straight forward activate-by-putting-it-into-the-data-folder method! That being said, I am taking this opportunity to pause my obsessive modding of Skyrim, ZIP down my data and mod folders, and start a new round in Fallout 3 (not going to bother w FO4 until both DLC and modding pipeline fill up). This gives me the ability to use some of the feature integration I have envied from afar, while being able to start fresh and learn without breaking a game in progress. When my Skyrim need returns, I can always resurrect my 5.61 install, and get my precariously modified game up and running pretty quickly. TLDR: was excited to see the 60.x version in the upgrade message, gonna start a new installation of FO3 from scratch, and still have a safety net for my modded Skyrim. Big thanks to the Nexus devs for producing an amazingly integrated and versatile modding environment and to all the community members sharing their upgrade experiences and providing constructive criticism in the forum/bug report areas. - E PS: Really excited about the future ability to download a fully modded - and working! - build of a game like Skyrim through Nexus based profile saving!
  6. djjohnjarvis - your follower is exactly what I am talking about. The awkward and suggestive conversations and somewhat unpredictable behavior are precisely what makes your mod interesting - and not at all redundant - to play with. About to meet her for my second playthrough. Great job, sir, and since you and your fellow top follower mod authors continue to add to and support the characters for fans, it is possible to see the results evolve from one playthrough to another.
  7. Besides the above list - agree with all, Boombro - I like the way they help make the game world feel more populated and alive. Walking around a player house, or inn, and seeing your crew interacting with NPC and the environment makes for a more immersive experience. Love being on the road and listening to Inigo or Vilja bantering with each other or Lydia. Even mining for ore becomes more fun when Inigo comments on how I am really giving it to that rock! On a practical note, turning up the combat difficulty, be it with dragons, bandits, or civil war foes, makes having a team a lot more interesting. Taking a fort packed with a dozen or more mixed enemies feels more epic, and it is fun watching them use equipment I have created and tactics that I can tweak. Seems to work for me in Skyrim, where you always seem to bump into something or someone soon enough. Morrowind was special because i enjoyed the sort of lonely atmospherics and solo discovery. The best part is, I can always leave them at home and venture forth whenever I wish, so I can get the best of both worlds.
  8. My downloading issues seem to have changed from slow download speeds and incomplete files to a more all or nothing scenario: Smaller files downlaod very quickly, but ANYTHING large - HD textures, companion mods like Inigo, or even the Unofficial Skyrim Patch simply time out without ever seeming to connect. When downloading manually, it always works, but I often have to wait as long as 15 minutes (!) before the open/save dialogue box appears. Seemed to randomly work better when I was premium and could bounce between preferred servers, but even then only a small percentage of the time. Hope this info helps, and echo those who would love some sort of update on where this issue stands. Seems like two months is plenty of time for any CDN system to adjust load balancing . . . - E
  9. Adding my own experiences over the last few days attempting to mod Skyrim - w/POSSIBLE SOLUTION: - Was unable to download almost a third of the mods - no information displayed about connection status, they would simply either be complete or fail with an error and be marked incomplete. - Based on reading that premium users could still select servers from within the NMM (0.52.1) preferences, I signed up again (always a good idea!) and was able to download about half of the remainiing files after multiple tries through multiple server selections; now information about the connection speed as well as the file size and threads (sometimes) was displayed in the client. - The rest simply will not download at all: connection speeds of 9-14 Kbps show up in orange at the bottom of the client, and after a few minutes of no further information, the download errors out and shows as incomplete. Attempts to download manually are met with a "waiting for filedelivery.nexusmods.com" message in the browser, with no further action after the "we are preparing your file . . ." dialogue box - even after 15 plus minutes (Vilja, I am looking at you!) - This does not change no matter what server I select. Mods include Vilja, SMIM, Falskar, Immersive Weapons/Armor, and various HD texture packs. Fun fact: most, but not all, are listed as not scanned for virus, even after many months. Tried DNS reassignment, but no effect, bben. UPDATE: As I am writing this, the Vilja and Faskar manual downloads finally responded with a dialogue box!! Took over 20 minutes  Chose to open with NMM client (manually browsed to it in the Program Files folder). After a short time, got the "{filename} has been added" message, and able to confirm the mods' presence in my GAMES\SKYRIM\MODS folder. A royal pain, but works for those of us that can download some, but not all of the mods we want. It seems the NMM client simply times out after a few minutes, whereas the browser is willing to wait indefinitely (even if we are not!) I hope that this helps enough motivated people who simply want to get their favorite mods downloaded and get to the fun of tinkering until our games actually work as intended (by me  ) - Erikose
  10. I am voting yes, but doing so humbly. Could easily - for the user - resolve bugged/bungled quest issues without reverting to earlier saves, but I want to recognize it as quite the undertaking! - E
  11. :nuke: NECRO POSTING! :nuke: Sorry to revive this, but have been having the same problem myself with a few of the revolvers - did not try brush gun. You can actually see the bullet flying off into the sky, even from a few feet away. It happens with the gold plated revolver and the gov't ammo version of the hunting pistol. All other guns tend to fire the round (generally) wherever the crosshair is pointing. Any ideas? - Eduardo
  12. Had similar effect after using another type 3 - type 3m replacer - the dreaded double breast/black panty issue! Resolved it by toggling Archive Invalidation off, then on again in NMM. Works in FOMM as well. Hope this helps. - Eduardo
  13. Goodsprings Farmhouse So far the best one for me. Multi level, not overpowered, companion friendly, and even has some cool quests to get to know it. Includes, purchasable upgrades, ability to grow crops, lighting, "well rested" bed, and assorted lore friendly crafting and sorting options. Conveniently located next to Doc Mitchell . . .
