  1. Thanks for the reply proconsu1. It was pretty quick after I edited my first post so (re: load order) you probably didn't notice that I uninstalled Lucy. (I get impatient sometimes, lol.) That's how I understood the "content no longer available" thing. But it happens every time I start FO3 now, no matter how many saves ago I deleted an esp. I restarted the game a few times after uninstalling the housing mod files, and 3 times since uninstalling Lucy and the message appeared each time. Me confused.
  2. I've been trying out a few player housing mods lately, and am having varying degrees of success with how well they interact with my 2 companions - the Lucy West and and the Sydney Follower mods. (Both of which I quite like.) In a recent tryout of a housing mod ("What a Lovely Shack"), and after Sydney somehow died (she's essential) coming up from a lower level to the main level (revived her via prior save), both companions refused to leave the building. No biggie, each mod has a feature for the companion reappearing. So I fast travelled to Megaton and they reappeared, but both were on "wait" mode. (I'm thinking that might explain Sydney's death, ie somehow her essential status was changed at the time of her injury). But I couldn't trigger companion mode in Sydney even though I got the right dialogue option, and I didn't even get the companion dialogue for Lucy. I uninstalled the housing mod and, on restart, Sydney responded to the dialogue so I got her back. But I still don't get the right dialogue options for Lucy. Oddly, I get the "this save relies on content that may no longer be available" message whenever I start a game now. (I don't think that's the exact wording of the message, but I'm sure everyone's seen it) If anyone has any suggestions as to how I could get Lucy back I'd appreciate it. I could just uninstall/reinstall Lucy, but it would be nice to get back the weapons and ammo I loaded her up with. (I only get one dialogue option - "Time for me to go now", so I can't access her inventory.) All in all, not the hugest of problems I suppose. But I'm also very curious as to what I'm being told by the "content may no longer be available" message whenever I start FO3 - I've seen this message a ton, but always only one occurrence of it immediately after uninstalling a mod. Never after starting a game that wasn't preceded by an uninstall. The message is annoying but I don't notice any issues when the game is running. Edit: I uninstalled the Lucy mod but I'm still getting the "content may no longer be available" message whenever I start FO3.
  3. A few of the top of my head Like Moira - like the quirky aunt who everyone loves to have over for dinner (not TOO often) Sydney - maybe because I like the Sydney follower mod so much, but I always liked the female gun nut relic-hunter thing. Willow - I'll never forget her warm welcome to the Mall during my first playthrough. A nice breath of hospitality after some metro hell. Tulip - I warm up to anyone who tells me I'd look great in leather Actually, I like underworld generally - Winthrop, Patches, Snowflake, Carol - all are from the ghoul school of cool in my books. Dislike Red - I save your ass from becoming supermutant stew and you're gonna charge me to heal the injuries I took?! Dr. Li - She was lucky we got to the Citadel when we did. Man, one more "What IS IT?!" and I woulda let loose the Xuolong. Pallidan Hoss & his initiate - I don't WANT your escort! Especially with a cowering intitiate in tow. Father Birch - total nutjob Isabella Proud - okay, dead, but still... she slathers ghoul-attraction goo onto her colleagues radsuit without telling him?!
  4. The more I play FO3 I'm, naturally, less likely to have those "wow" kinda moments. But I had one of those uber-cool experiences fairly recently. I've only just recently packed my game with mods and I'd been playing a lot with the Sydney Follower and Lucy West Companion. But I was missing the lone wolf thing a bit, so decided to go out on a solo recon mission. It was right after I'd loaded the "darker nights" mod and Marts Mutant mod, and I went out rather light - only 1 rifle (albeit a totally modded Xuonlong) and a whack of grenades and mines. I intentionally didn't read the MMM description about all the creatures I was going to face, as that was kinda the point of the recon mission. The plan was to fast travel to the Republic of Dave then zig down to the SW then zag back SE to Megaton. I left Daves just when it got dark. I console-commanded the time ratio down to 10 so I knew it was going to be a long night. Well.... holy hannah, what a ride. I was barely out of Dave's when I saw the shadowy outlines of what first appeared to be some kind of Mirelurk-type thing, but they had even bigger than mirelurk type heads and these BIG pointy teeth. In the darkenss, they looked like great white shark heads with legs. Yikes. (I have Mr Slackpants nightvision mod - I try to use sparingly and save energy cells, and you don't get really bright vision in darker nights as it is. Perfect, actually.) Soon enough, I came across some eerie green campfire with a bunch of dancing zombies. Er wait, they're not dancing..... they're fighting with some massive and grotesque beast that kinda looked like a mutie but something was kinda off. Whatever it was, it was creamg the ghoulies. Especially given that it had probably taken some ghoul-damage I went out of recon mode and blasted the dam thing and discovered it was an "Abominable" mutant. Great, just great. Really lookin' forward to meetin' one at full health. :P Wasn't long before I was tracking a mutie (armored, no less) that I could swear was working with the Enclave. WTF?! Later I had the stupidity to go up against some bad assed RED deathclaw (it was light by that time, the mission had kinda gone off timetable). Apparently, at least according to VATS shortly before my death, it's called a "Matriarch". Great, REALLY lookin' forward to more of those! (Thank you F5/F9!) Anyways, by the time I got back to Megaton I was totally stoked by that adventure. One "what the hell is that now?!" moment after another. It was like the closest I've come for awhile to that initial FO3 buzz I got on my first playthrough. Scariness, excitement and mega-fun!!
  5. Hey, cool to get a + reply. Yeah, would be nice to display a more grandios treasure than this: (Sierra Madre chips sprinkled 'round for more treasure-y effect :P).
  6. After a discussion on Wki, and seeing a few requests here for gold bars and gems, I was thinkin' it might be cool to expand Dead Money's Sierra Madre treasure to include some diamonds and/or other gems. Or maybe silver or platinum bars. (Surely SInclair would have loaded up on a variety of precious stuff to be well- diversified for the apocolypse :P) As well, if you manage to pull of the heist, (I had to go to youtube to figure out how) it would be nice to have somewhere back in New Vegas to display it more easily than dropping individual gold bars on the floor. Some kind of display case that neatly stacks, or even a pirate's chest kind of thing? I guess it would even help to make the gold bars pick-up-able to make for easier manual stacking. Anyways, that's my first-ever mod idea/reques fwiw.
  7. I'd definitely get NMC's texture pack: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12056 to make your graphics come alive. THe number 1 must have in my books. I've only recently added the Darnified Hud mod, but couldn't live without it now. Makes the HUD much smaller and customizable, and the pipboy more usable (gotta go outside of Nexus): http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1121454-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-f3/ I think a lot of people think level up is too fast, and this a great mod for slowing down the pace without altering the level caps (not sure if this would be the kind of game-changer you want to avoid): http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7674 Those are probably my 3 total, absolute, must haves (at the moment :D). Another thing I found here - pretty much cured my FO3 game from constantly crashing, if you happen to have that problem: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6510 (Make that my 4 must haves) A couple other suggestions: Weapn Mod Kits: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3388 Enhanced GNR Radio: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14946 I'd urge you to just poke around here (I like using browsing by category, and checking the comments section of any potential mod to gauge other players' experiences) - there's really an unbelievable amount of great mods on this site. I've gone from hardly any mods about a few weeks ago to running about 17 or so now, and I've fallen in love with the game all over again. Wish I would have installed them earlier in my current game.
  8. Fwiw, you can get the increased zoomability via console command "setgs fchasecameramax ####" where "####" is the desired zoom level. I got tired of typing that into the console everytime I played so ended up going with the mod that Drake suggested. (I think I was using 500 or something like that for the console zoom level)
  9. Actually, WastelandAssassin kindly directed me to Bethsoft just the other day for the (epic) DarNified UI mod: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1121454-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-f3/ Before that, I figured all things FO3 mod resided here.
  10. I installed this yesterday and loved it in the 4 or so hours I've played with it - Ambient Wasteland: adds more background noises when you're wandering the wastes. Really helped with the ol' immersion, inmho. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8174 I mighta missed it, but I didn't see Fellout or any other mod in your list to make it darker or night (maybe wanderers edition does that?).... anyways of course there's the Darker Nights (I thought Fellout was TOO dark, this one I find just about perfect). Really works nicely with the Ambient Wasteland. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8174 and maybe some nightvision for those darker nights (Mr Slackpants Night Vision) http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3368 and maybe some monster horror chiller radio theatre to listen to while sittin' under the moon (Radio KBAT): http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3850 Cheers
  11. Thought I'd post the link in case any other Nexus-ite is lookin' for the same thing: DarNified UI F3 I had one of those "how did I ever live without this" moments almost immediately. I don't even notice the HUD info - unless I want to, which is the way it should be. And the no-scroll, see-everything-at-once, menus gave me one of those "who knew?!" moments. I didn't appreciate what a hassle scrolling was until I didn't have to anymore (well, not nearly as much). Just perfect.
  12. Excellent, thanks for the (quick!) reply WastelandAssassin. I found the Darnified UI at Bethsoft and loaded it up - exactly what I was looking for! Much obliged. PS - as I mentioned I wasn't really focused on cleaning up the dialogue/item menus, but I didn't realize how annoying the default pipboy menus were until this mod cleaned 'em up. Wow, what a difference! Don't know how I lived with the defaults for so long.
  13. Some of the experienced guys will probably chime in with the good info but I think that its legal/ intellectual property issues, and not any technical ones, that stand in the way of what you're suggesting.
  14. Two come to mind, both on my first playthrough. First was unwittingly triggered the behemoth near the Jury Street Metro on my run back home after escaping Raven Rock. I had just added Fawkes as my companion and... well, I just ran - better him than me (I can be such a jerk!). Second was after I double-crossed Crowley by getting his caps and then bolting back to Ft Constantine to grab the T1b. Quite a while later I was unloading my inventory back in my Tenpenny Tower suite and, just when I was at the point of being naked and unarmed, Crowley burst into my room and started .44 magnumming my ass. Luckily the robo butler was quick on the flamer and I had enough time to grab a shooter and start firing back. On my current playthrough, I double-crossed Crowley a few levels ago and he hasn't shown up yet. I think he was probably killed in the wasteland, but I'm still on edge in case he appears suddenly.
  15. Howdy, I really "modded up" FO3 for my current playthrough and I've fallen in love with this game all over again (thank you Nexus!!). Overall textures, weapon mods, new armour, cool shades, new companions etc., etc. But I really want to reduce the size of the text on my HUD (the compass/hp thing on the bottom left and the AP/weapon condition & ammo on the bottom right), but I can't seem to find a mod to do that? Maybe I'm just a bad searcher, but all the hud mods I"ve seen seem to focus on making the dialogue and item menus more efficient. But I can live with scrolling through item and dialogue menus - I just want smaller fonts in my face when I'm scouring the wastes! I'm thinkin' there's gotta be a few out there but, alas, this nooby can't seem to find 'em. Thanks much. Cheers
