  1. One of the things I love the most about the NWN games is that there are so many modules for them that I still haven't played them all. It's great when our favorite games never get old, and mods are a major part of that.

Thanks to Dark0ne and everyone involved behind the scenes for continuing to support the modding and sharing of mods for the games we love.

  2. I'm hoping this won't be considered thread necromancy, but I only just stumbled upon this thread while doing a Google search for Two Worlds mods; it seems that the questions of whether or not the game could actually be modded and if so where to get the mods were never fully answered here. The following link should provide those answers: Inside Two Worlds.

There is in fact an SDK which is supported by some other modding tools, but the devs never updated it to work with the latest version of the game. It's a shame it got abandoned because (with a good bit of modding) Two Worlds could have been something big.

  3. To be honest, with today's aggressive marketing I think every game is over-hyped. Skyrim was indeed a fine example with it's live-action trailer that gave no clue whatsoever as to what the actual game would look and play like. Before that, we had the Fallout New Vegas ad that was nothing more than a snippet from the game's intro video, again giving almost no indication whatsoever as to what the actual game might be like. And then there was... ah, nevermind; you get the idea...
  4. Another solution is to pick up the book using the key you remapped the use function to. For example, I switched the "e" and "space" keys so it would be the same as Oblivion, which I still play. To pick up books lying on the floor in Skyrim, at the prompt to press "e", I hit "space" instead and the book is added to my inventory.

That may very well work now after a few game patches, but when I started this thread two months ago such was not the case. At the time, this mod was the best solution that I found.

  5. Instant Gratificaion, by the way, works both way. The longer it takes Beth to release the CK, the lower the number of new modders will be; Many potential modders have probably forgotten about Skyrim in the time since release; I admit I myself pretty much shelved Skyrim until recently when I heard Bethesda had confirmed the CK for the end of January. Now if time has helped Beth iron out the game breaking bugs that plagued past APIs, that loss will be well worth it, but let's be honest: Bethesda is one of the worst AAA developers when it comes to bugs, partially because of how much they cling to the gamebryo engine (of which the Creation Engine is a modified version.). I'll be happy if there's only one or two parts of the CK are unusable on release.

You make it sound like the game has been out for several years; in reality it has been just under 3 months since it's release. If we've lost a large number of potential modders in that short period of time then I'd wager that such impatience is indicative of a lack of dedication to the game and thus whatever fleeting trinkets of instant gratification they might have produced will not be missed anyway.

  6. It's true. Game producers are under no obligation to release any game editing utilities or source codes whatsoever and thus such never happens for most games. This is why I say the OMG! IT'S BEEN A MONTH! complaints are examples of entitlement issues. We should be patient and thankful that Bethesda does indeed release such tools for their games.
  7. The game has only been out a couple of months. If you ask me, it's actually rather selfish of us to expect a CK so soon.

And it's something totally unheard of for a customer to be selfish. Even more so, since the CK was originally presented as being released together with the game or very close to its release date.

Don't get me wrong; I like modding games as much as anyone. Just seems like regarding this issue there seems to be a sense of entitlement floating around here. I know they said January and there's nothing wrong with wanting them to live up to that, but I'm one of those folks who hasn't bothered to actually finish the game yet so I'm just not ready to start making major changes to it yet. I'm sure I'm a minority.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif

  8. In other news: I'm still looking to win the lottery this month. Keep an eye on the national news.

    Cool story bro. :turned:

Really not sure what that means, "bro".

  10. Wait, America is Protesting now, so theres not gonna be a Patch or CK till November.

Don't need to be melodramatic... Bethesda said they'll release the CK in January. Think about it. They wouldn't dare risk their necks by saying when it's going to be released and fail to keep their word. They know how much hype they're creating.

Sure, but as their track record shows, they'll most likely meet their release date obligations by releasing a product that's only barely finished and so full of bugs that it will need several update patches.

  11. I agree with the advice others have given above. Compared to some of the other gaming communities I participate in (I won't mention any names) the overall crowd here is quite a bit more reserved and the moderators do a fine job of weeding out the riffraff. When trolls with unjustified criticisms or straight-out insults do arise, however, it's better to use the "report" button rather than to get ones'self into trouble by arguing with them.
