    1.) If the game returns to normal when you remove random mods, how do you know NCCS is the problem?

     

    2.) You might get more results by posting in the comments thread for the mod so the author will actually see the question; I only happened upon it here by accident.

  2. Having played the last few Elder Scrolls games, I predict you will start the game as a prisoner locked in the hold of a Nordic ship. Bethesda seems to have a thing for starting us out in jail for some reason.

    Not to be that guy, though I'm totally gonna.

    Devs have already stated that you're being led to your execution at the start of the game. Seems to me you'll start off on foot. :thumbsup:

     

     

     

    Whatever happened to good ole RPG standards like the son (or daughter) of the poor farming family who picks up the pitchfork to defend the village from some attackers and in turn is swept away into adventure? Or how about the good ole "you wake in a strange place and can't remember who you are" scenario? Hackneyed, sure. But starting every Elder Scrolls game as somebody's prisoner is getting a bit tired too IMHO. I truly believe that the devs have some sort of preoccupation with it.

    Todd said that it's a great way to begin the roleplaying experience. Immediately, the player comes up with an excuse as to why their character is in that prison, whether they murdered someone or they were framed or something like that.

    Being a prisoner also allows the game to start you off with nothing more than the clothes on your back, because obviously, they wouldn't let convicts carry weapons around in prison, if your character gets released officially (Like in Morrowind.) they can always not return your possessions to you, and if you escape (Like in Oblivion.) then it's pretty easy to justify you not getting your items back, in the end, though, the game lets you start off with only what you can aquire at the beginning. I think its a good reason to start in prison.

One proposal is that once an author achieves a certain number of downloads or endorsements they are afforded a few more privaledges (for being a benefit to the community), such as the ability to fully moderate thier own comments pages or an extra life on the three strike system (or just no instant-bans, one warning at least). Another option would be to gradient the ban period based on AP Scores which reflect a members overall presence within the Nexus. If someone has been around for ages and has a high AP then they only face a ban of three months or a year max. Repeated offenders can still be treated in a zero tolerance manner.

    Also preferably there could be some way of re-instating said individual if they do get banned, perhaps with a poll. Once people have seen the effects of a ban they are much more likely to have learned a lesson, even if that is just to moderate thier own comments.

     

     

     

    I disagree. Eligibility for Nexus membership should not be a popularity contest.

  5. man the game isn't even playable without mods, some of the modders blow the developers away. In fact Fallout New vegas even dare I say stole/borrowed quite a few ideas from mods that were developed for fallout 3

     

    If the game can be modded I'll never buy the console versions, mods are a gift from god:)

  6. IMHO there is enough quality custom content produced by the community available on this and other sites that Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 and FNV all become superior versions on the PC when compared to their vanilla console counterparts.
  7. Most people play "swords and magic" ROLE-PLAYING games so that they can act out as the "hero" they'd want to be, not the hot and sexy person opposite to their sex to arouse them. I mean, you'd say no to this statement if you have never seen a girl naked before...or if you're really really horny, and your country blocked off all porn sites...or other reasons.

     

     

     

    The Nexus is overflowing with female companion characters; male players can play male characters and have female companions in sexy armors, thus maintaining their heroic manliness.

  8. With most games on Windows 7 it is recommended to install the game to a different location other than the default location the installer chooses (in other words, select the custom install option and simply choose a different directory rather than C:/Program Files (x86) etc.).

     

    If this doesn't solve your problem you may have some other issues that don't have anything to do with the game.

  9. steam is a bad internet connections worst nightmare

     

    Time Warner Cable is notorious for exactly that sort of internet service.

     

    It's the only affordable service provider in my area, so guess where that leaves us here?

  10. It's changeable for everyone and there's a very easy way to even move the whole directory even if you've already installed a lot of steam games.

     

    That's what I did once it started taking up more space on my C: drive than I wanted it to.

     

    Still, I'd prefer to have purchased those games on hard discs in case of system failures and other such technical catastrophes, whether they be on their end or mine.

  11. That is so true. I've goten bord of vanilla Morrowind, so I started getting TONS of mods 4 it, and now there is more to explore and do. And I think Bethesda wanted exactly that 2 happen, considering the Construction Set disk is packaged with the game.

     

     

    What also amazes me about Morrowind is the AMAZING originality of it. Just go randomly exploring, and it is so imaginative and different from Fantasy RPGs. Seriously, half of the stuff i'm just like "How the hell did they manage to think of that?!"

     

    I totally agree. Before I found Morrowind GOTY on the XBox I had been playing the Final Fantasy games on the Playstation. Once I made the transition from guiding a pre-created character through a series of pre-determined animated cut-scenes to guiding a character I had created myself through actually exploring an actual three-dimensional world I have never gone back to games like FF.

  12. I think that while the game was indeed revolutionary for its time a great deal of its longevity can be attributed to the modding community and all it has produced. One of my other favorite games, Classic Doom, has been hanging on for nearly 20 years and I believe that would hardly be the case if there was not such a massive collection of community-produced content and players were not still modding it today. I think all the Gamebryo games will enjoy a long lifespan due to mods and the community. I've just started playing Morrowind GOTY again myself, but I have to wonder if I would have been as excited about playing it again if I didn't have a load order of over 200 mods to go with it. I've always loved the game and it was the one that got me into all of this, but all the mods really do add replay value to the game that other PC and console games lack.
  13. I don't mind Steam, so I buy my games there. Don't like Steam? Don't buy the games. Want the game, but it's steam only? Then don't buy it, it's THAT simple. If people actually started boycotting Steam instead of giving in and buying the games, things would probably change. This is never going anywhere unless people take action.   14. In your game directory there should be a folder called "Data" and in the mod you're unpacking (if it was packed by a modder who gives a crap) there should also be a folder called "Data". Just make sure that everything from the mod data folder gets copied to your game data folder, then of course make sure you activate the plugin with either the game launcher or a mod manager and you should be good to go.
