You should search on Google and TESNexus forums first. It is easy to find Dagger mods. However, I know many newbies want some good daggers for assassin/thief characters, so I will try to help to list some good mods. My personal favorites are Coolman's Dagger Collection, MBJWeapons Daggers. Good retexed daggers are the Retextured Witsplinter, Robblazes Elven Daggers, Dagger of the Wicked. If you want some nice futuristic daggers, try Gloria and Trish Armor. Glowing and very good stats. Reverse daggers, such as the Salient Daggers and KORs Reverse Daggers, are fun too, if you like playing as an assassin. Or maybe some fancy stuff like the Dragon Dagger, Serpent Dagger, Lórien dagger (Andúril set), Sotha Dagger and Dagger of the Aedra, which can feel really cool if combined with some fancy armor and combat-anim-replacer mods (like Deadly Reflex or DMC Stylish). I recall that the Hashashin Armor mods and Assassin's Creed mods have daggers and/or short-swords, or at least the faux blade joined to the gauntlet (wrist). Some weapon sets have offhand daggers too - you cannot used them to strike, but they act like shields, and you can use them as a shield-bash if you have Deadly Reflex. You might also want to take a look at Throwing Knives or maybe use any vanilla daggers as Throwable Weapons. Daggers might be short range, but their fast speed makes them useful in close-quarter combat, and I usually keep some poison pots to give my favorite blades the deadly edge.

4GB Enabler, numerous crashes solved.
vvk78 replied to captainhalfajob's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
The memory patcher is not needed for Qarl's textures, though you may see some benefit. It is really needed only if you have large amounts of RAM sitting idle (Oblivion uses only upto 2GB by default). Have you tried Streamline and OSR first? For optimized HQ textures, you can use QTP3 Reduced Redimized. It is a texture pack containing QTP3 textures that are half the size of the originals to reduce video memory usage (which manifests itself as stuttering and poor performance in Oblivion). You will get good visuals even with a midrange graphics card. Also, note that this 4GB patcher will ideally work with any 32-bit executable, but any patching may cause problems if you are using Steam. Other memory patchers have issues with OBSE. So backup the Oblivion.exe and Oblivion.ini (in My Docs~ folder) before running the patch. More info is here: http://preventcrashe...EXE-Patcher.htm http://www.bethsoft....owtopic=1071593 -
Yes, it may probably be fixed. There should not be any obvious LOD issues in vanilla Oblivion. Make sure you have installed/reinstalled the Official Patches v1.2.0416 for Oblivion and Shivering Isles, and the corresponding Unofficial Patches as well (which fix a *lot* of bugs). Disable all mods and DLCs before reinstalling any patches. I would recommend you to then install and run TES4LODGen, which is a is a DistantLOD Generator. You MUST have HDR enabled or you may get some flashing-to-black distant objects. BOSS, Wrye Bash, RefScope and TES4Edit can also help with the sorting out mod conflicts. Make sure you have OBSE, OBGE, Pluggy as this might be required by some mods. If you manage to resolve the LOD issue, enable the mods one by one, play the game, till you find the mod that supposedly introduces the LOD issue, and inform the mod author by PM, so he/she can respond whether your diagnosis is correct and provide any fixes if needed.

Jim, this is a fantastic beginner introduction to PD! Hope you can add further info to this thread later. I've given you kudos for taking this effort and initiative.

I haven't used Cyberlink PowerDirector (PD), so I cannot say authoritatively whether you intend is directly possible within PD. Also, please note that PD9 seems to support titles in the video track, so it looks like you are using an older version 8. You can probably try some of these workarounds: 1. Try the screenshooting-the-title method as explained in the Cyberlink Community Forum. 2. Create the light title, dark title and TV interference transition as 3 separate videos using PD. Then use VirtualDub or Windows Movie Maker to merge these 3 videos together and adjust the timelines as per your needs. 3. For creating a basic show-and-tell video, you can use the freeware Microsoft Photo Story 3, which has more than 40 types of transitions.

Some people are reporting issues with Taksi giving black screen or audio problems with recorded video. The audio issue might be sorted out by installing the free AC3 audio decoder and processor filter. It is also recommended to run Taksi first and then the game you want to record. ___________________________________________________________________________ Tips from the Taksi User Manual (author has not yet updated it to correspond to the latest version): Usage: 1. Run taksi.exe 2. Run a game that uses one of the supported APIs (DX8, DX9 or OpenGL) (The order of these two steps is not important for taksi. It should be able to hook on the game in either case.) 3. Look at left top corner of the screen. If you see a green rectangle in there, then Taksi was able to sucessfully hook on the game. Default keys F5: Turn visual indicator ON/OFF. F6: Toggle system-wide hook mode. When ON (indicator turns blue), allows for mapping into multiple applications, but may have a strong negative effect on the overall performance of the system. Recommended state: OFF. (The hot-key is disabled, when Taksi uses DirectInput for keyboard handling.) F7: Small screenshot (WIDTH/2 x HEIGHT/2). F8: Regular screenshot (WIDTH x HEIGHT). ScrollLock: Video capture ON/OFF (Writes an uncompressed AVI-file). (Dimensions of the video are WIDTH/2 x HEIGHT/2.)

Tabaxi and Nonyxian races are great feline races. Haven't tried the Kawa-Khajiits, though I have heard good stuff about it.

The dragon-sheep-monster-boss gave an evil chuckle, that sounded suspiciously like bleating.... http://i38.tinypic.com/28sms00.jpg "Sheeps against ships! Baaa!", he bleated loudly.

Sounds interesting. I think this might take quite a bit of effort and volunteers to start from scratch to completion. Maybe you guys can pick up an existing mod that does something similar: Oblivion - The Settlement. It is working to an extent, and its mod author recently released his final fixes for it. If he is not going to be working on it any longer, and gives the permission, you guys can take it up as it has some of the groundwork ready for the object placements, town hall, house customization, etc.

If you are looking for a castle with adventurous quests, then Glenvar Castle and Hoarfrost Castle fit the bill. Legend in the Sky is a floating Sky Castle. ORE has many castle abodes that you might like. Akaviri Stronghold (and its Marketcity Addon) is one of the cuter castles that is not only in a convenient location (near to Anvil port), but also has many wonderful and innovative features (including fully scripted NPCs and merchants/blacksmith/trainers).

OBSE, OBGEv2, SSAO Help Please
vvk78 replied to Number7777777's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Get and run BOSS, and make sure your mod Load Order List is correctly set. Then run TES4LODGen to clean up any LOD issues. Run Oblivion with only OBSE, see if that works. If you still get a crash, use OBMM or Wrye Bash to backup your load order, and deactivate all mods, except the vanilla esm's and UOP esp's. This should work, but if it doesn't try replacing the Oblivion.ini in your My Documents folder with the default one from the installed game folder (backup up the ini file before replacing). If that doesn't work, then you may need to reinstall the game (make a backup of all your mods and Oblivion.ini first). If all else works, then try enabling OBGE in the end. I got some issues with OBGE the last time I tried it, so I've skipped it for now. -
Have The Elder Scrolls Spoiled You?
vvk78 replied to WizardOfAtlantis's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
No other game has so many unique mods and such a powerful modding community as The Elder Scrolls series (especially Oblivion). In its modded avatar, and uniquely for a single player offline game, it is an immensely replayable one that has stood its ground through these years (and can push even the latest graphics cards to their limits). The FPS/RPG I really want to play is Red Dead Redemption, which has already won many GOTY and critics awards. I am eagerly waiting for it to be released on the PC in 2011. -
Of the vanilla spells, I find the following to be quite effective: Black Winter (Paralyze for 2sec on Target, Frost Damage 20pts on Target, cost 200)Wizard's Fury (Fire Dmg on Target, Frost Dmg on Target, Shock Dmg on Target, variable cost)Mehrunes Dagon Custom Effect has variable destruction damage and range, resist magic value, and immunity to Silence. It can be quite deadly at lower levels. :verymad: There is another spell, called Pants on Fire (or probably Ants in Pants) that causes the target to jump around erratically as if his pants was on fire..

Command Mounts and Horses is actually a very useful and simplistic mod, since it allows you to summon your mounts even in other worldspaces, with ease (mount doesn't even need to be near you)! The beauty of this mod is that it provides a single lesser power called Command Mount that allows Summon/Follow/Wait for any ridable mount, including from custom mods. To make the horse stop following you permanently, you need to understand how the mod works. If your horse is following you currently, cast the Command Mount spell to make it wait. Do this in a stable or your permanent home, so that you don't misplace the horse. Now switch over to an unsummonable mount, such as Akatosh mount (ridable dragon mod). Summon it using its own custom summon spell (e.g., Call Fire Drake), then command it again with the Command Mount spell, so that it is following you. Now you can use the custom summon spell again to get the popup menu to unsummon it and send it home. Now your horse will always be waiting for you in that stable, and you can switch over to any other horse or mount now (including the Akatosh dragon, if you so wish). Always make sure if you make your horse follow/wait with the Command Mount spell, then do not use it on another horse, unless you made your first horse wait in a stable or other location that you won't forget. There's no way to summon previous horses/mounts, if you have switched to a new mount. If you want a more versatile alternative to Command Mount and Horses mod, try the Horse Commands mod. It provides lots of features, but might be more complicated for your needs.

Use an infinite-storage addon for your inventory such as Automagicka Bags mod (my recommendation), Bag of Holding mod, or DS Portable Sacks. Drop all your Soul Gems, Sigil Stones and other junk/clutter into these portable bags, and retain only the Azura's Star gems in your main inventory. Next time you soul-trap, only the Azura's Star should get filled (since that is only soul-trap-holder gem "seen" by the game engine in the main inventory). I hope so anyway. I don't use any of the default gems except for Azura's Star. All my enchantments are done with the awesome Runeskulls mod by Exnem (let you find unique artifacts called Runeskulls in random dungeons, and each Runeskull has its own unique set of multiple spells that can be used to enchant).

Looks like a troll question! Anyhow, I would suggest you to complete the DB and Mages guild questlines, or the Cure for Vampirism (you cannot travel in daylight). You can also try some bigger and tougher quests mods, like Ramys monster, Dragon Invasion II or Glenvar Castle. If you don't want combat quests, try some unusual quests. Or find some other good mods from The List of Mod Lists. And stop cribbing. No game will last you forever, you have to keep trying to enhance your gameplay with mods, online/LAN play, playing as a different type of character, etc. If you are still bored, grab and play another new game (try FO3:NV), or wait for Skyrim. After a few months, you will return to Oblivion and love to play it again (especially with the new mods).

Question has been asked before: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/279461-essential-oblivion-modsoverhauls/ Do a search on this forum for "essential mods" or "recommended mods", and you will find similar threads. Take a look at the LIST OF OBLIVION LISTS. Browse the Files section of TESNexus, and sort by downloads or endorsements to see most popular files. Make sure you install at least OBMM, Wrye Bash, Wrye Python, OBSE, OBGE to get the full experience of mods. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ You can procure the DLCs and Shivering Isles if you want to enhance the experience with the Besthesda's official addon content.

Can you guys please (pretty please) pre-release the Garuda race mod, so we can beta-test it? It looks spectacular and if it can fly, omg, that would be awesome. KD Circlets would be fantastic head-armor to the Garuda (giving it a regal look), and the Eagle Sword (from Prince of Persia) would be the perfect weapon. These mods are already available on TESNexus. Cuirass armor, greaves and boots would probably not look good (unless they are short and semi-transparent like mithril/chainmail armor), as the beauty of the race is in its feathers/fur/talons/beak. Coming to its stats, default combat can a beak/talon frontal attack, a swooping dive power attack. Since it is an eagle, we can give it binocular/zoom vision, night-eye, and endurance (eagles can fly for a long time), and balance these boosts by adding susceptibility to fire damage (due to its feathers). Also, pardon me for saying this if I understood incorrectly, but aren't you guys trying to make the home for the Garuda look like a weaver-birds nest? Ideally, it should ideally be a large semi-open nest on a craggy hilltop, with a large animal skin as the bedroll. It will look very good to take screenshots of the Garuda standing proudly in his high nest, with a sunrise or sunset in the background. Again, this is just my suggestion, you guys know best. Please think of releasing the Garuda race soon, even if it is incomplete, at least to a select few beta testers.

@Kdaj: Sounds like you needed MAO (Mayu's Animation Overhaul). It goes well with DMC Stylish.

Arcane20 claims to have resolved this issue with DR6 and CMCS. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36684 I don't use DR so if someone can confirm all the issues with CMCS are resolved, I can give CMCS a try. -
For bow-arrow mods, there's already an ongoing discussion. For the Ranger stuff, try the Thieves Arsenal (great mod), Shadow Ranger (awesome ranger enhancements, including companions and ranger faction), Ranger House, Adventures Gear (tripwires + portable camp), ForestHeart (nice ranger armor) and Complete Ranger (traps and other ranger enhancements), and maybe even Rangers of Cyrodiil.
