Okay, I tried it out and it sort of works. The esp is here. You have to have Midas and CM Partners installed. You must deactivate midas.esp. You'll find Beth W Midas in the center of the market district. Beth will use some of the Midas spells but something is nerfing her aim. I don't know if the problem is in Midas or CM. Let me know when you've got the esp. I going to remove it as soon as you do. I'll do a follow up post in a bit.

Off the top of my head... use TES4Gecko to merge your companion esp to Midas. Midas should be the dominant esp. In the CS, locate the Midas spells and drag them into the companion's spell list. Disclaimer: I have no idea if this will work as advertised. Make sure you have a backup of both your companion and midas' esps. It goes without saying that you shouldn't distribute the hybrid mod without the appropriate permissions from the original modders.

Oblivion Apachii Goddess Vista (32 bit) HELP!
mimada replied to YoRHaIcon's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
No, not really. You can install Robert's female body but you'll get clipping and mesh mismatches with Apachii stuff unless you put on a complete body suit in which case the body reverts to HGEC (or variant) anyway. Sorry, I just use Robert's male body so I don't know what's available for females. You don't have to use OMM for anything except files that are posted as "OMOD". OMM just makes it easier to install and uninstall mods. -
Oblivion Apachii Goddess Vista (32 bit) HELP!
mimada replied to YoRHaIcon's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Couple of things. Don't turn off Vista's firewall; you're just asking for it. Second, uninstall Oblivion and reinstall it in a different folder. I'm assuming you have it in "C:\Program Files". Vista blocks changes to applications in the Program Files folder by other applications which is exactly what OMM does. When you reinstall and the installer shows you the path "C:\Program Files\Bethesda\Oblivion", Change it to "C:\Bethesda\Oblivion". Good Luck! -
using your own characters as companions?
mimada replied to Daguss's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
You can't create a companion with the copy function. A companion needs AI to be effective, hence CM Partners. The mod runs a script that gives the player the ability to command the companion. I don't think it's possible to copy the player with this command. -
using your own characters as companions?

CM Partners and the CS. You'll need to use Wrye Bash to transfer your character's face to the companion esp. -
Yes. However (there's always a however), an esm will override Oblivion's master file so you have to be careful of what you change or you'll get some wacky and unexpected effects. Essentially, don't change every esp into an esm. Most esps that add races should be okay. The thing you have to watch out for are files that make alterations to cells and the worldspace. Once you get more comfortable with TES4Edit, you can find and strip these elements out of an esp you want to convert. I'll give you a specific example. Treetop Smoker's Human Race adds an NPC to your house in Bruma. If you change the esp to an esm and add it to the game without removing the instance of the NPC, the interior of the Bruma house disappears  . Rest assured that this won't destroy your game. All you have to do is deactivate the esm. If you don't intend to make any more changes to the esm then you don't need the esp. The CS won't allow you to directly edit an esm file so you have to edit the esp then convert it. Then again, you can always convert the esm back to an esp, edit it, then convert it back to an esm. I would keep a backup of the original archive somewhere just in case. Just don't have both the esm and esp activated at the same time. It won't destroy your game, but if you start a new game, there'll be two instance of say, the Corean race. I don't know if you are already using it, but having a savegame manager is great for modding. You can create a character for testing mods and not have to worry about messing up your main character.

Yep. Nope. In fact, if you convert the race file back into an esp, the companion file will cause a CTD as before. As I stated before, esp files cannot directly communicate with each other ingame without some black magic (i.e.,Wrye Bash, et al) The best advice I can give you right now is: Don't fear the Gecko (or Wrye Bash for that matter). They're your friends and will serve you well. I'm hoping you are also using the Oblivion Mod Manager as well. It makes testing stuff a whole lot easier. If you are super paranoid, backup your entire data folder (preferably on a large flash drive). If you screw up major, just delete the data folder in the Oblivion directory and restore from backup. It won't disintegrate...but it may change color to match its surroundings :whistling: and you're welcome. BTW let me know if your project is successful or if you've run into any difficulties.

Okay, I wanted to keep this section separate so it wouldn't be too confusing (for me anyway). Once you have the Corean esp converted to an esm, load up the CS. Check the IDKRRR_C_Race.esm and your companion esp. Set your companion esp as the active file. Say your companion is Breton and you want him/her to have Corean hair. Open Characters>Races, select the Breton race, and click on the Body Data tab. Open Characters>Hairs... Scroll until you find the Corean hair you want. Drag the hair into the Hair Styles box in the Race form. Open your Breton companion's form. You should now have the Corean hair selectable. Let me know if you need any clarification of this procedure.

You get the CTD because esp's cannot directly communicate with each other. So, say you have the Corean esp and your companion esp installed. Your companion esp cannot access the forms defined in the Corean esp ingame. When your companion esp attempts to create an instance of the companion, the game can't see the forms and blows up. Here's a step-by-step: Launch TES4Gecko Click on "Convert to Master" Locate the Corean esp "IDKRRR_C_Race.esp" (Intuitive, isn't it?) Select the mod and open it. You'll get a form confirming it's been done. Click through and close Gecko. In the CS, make sure you check mark IDKRRR_C_Race.esm along with your companion esp. The companion esp should be set as the active file. Open up your companion's form. Change their race to one of the Coreans. The Corean hair styles and eyes should now be selectable. Make your changes, save, then close the CS. Before you launch the game, deselect IDKRRR_C_Race.esp and activate IDKRRR_C_Race.esm. Activate your companion esp if it's not. Launch the game and enjoy! Your idea for a template might have worked if it was made a standard when the game came out, but here we are. I'm going to make another post in a minute regarding adding hair styles to other races.

Well then, just use TES4Gecko to change the Corean esp file to an esm and you're all set. I believe Corean doesn't change any worldspaces or cells so there shouldn't be any problems. BTW, the path for setting hairs in the CS is in the dropdown: Characters>Hairs...

Oblivion, yes, but which Overhaul?
mimada replied to Matrimelee's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
FCOM is awesome. It's a bit of a bear to install though. You really need to follow the installation guide closely. Once you have it properly installed it's amazingly stable. Another megamod in the works is Waalx. It might be a while before it's officially released though. -
Hi, The quick and dirty solution is to use TES4Gecko to convert the Corean esp file into an esm. I myself, use a heavily modified version of LFact's Beautiful People - Cosmetic Compilation. I merged her mod with Room207's Comprehensive Style Collection resources (I like having all the hair and eyes in one neat folder). I then used TES4Gecko to merge a variety of races. Be careful when merging. You have to remove any changes to cells or worldspaces otherwise the esm will screw up those locations. You can easily remove the references with TES4Edit. Always backup before you merge a race and test your merged esm. You don't want to mess up what works. Good Luck!
