Wow, don't know if I would do that, but I don't have much knowledge of exactly what you are talking about, it just seems like a bad idea. No this is not normal. And Skyrim needs the unofficial patches, esp. the Unofficial Legendary Patch and the Unofficial HD Patch. But the biggest thing glaring me in the eye is I see no mention of SKSE or SkyUI there. Almost all mods require them. SKSE is NOT installed through a mod manager. And you need to start Skyrim through SKSE instead of from any other source, but MO does this for you - but only if you have it installed. I use MO myself, and I have to say it doesn't do this (prob has nothing to do with it, and BTW I like it).

First off, I don't claim to be a fan of, nor know the lore well. But I did play Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and ESO. And I agree that the programmers of the later games took liberties with Dremora. In ESO they even added female Dremora, personalities, and "small talk" including little "*censored* session" complaints from them. Basically, just like all the rest of the races, they changed them all to be much more human-like, including "human nature" traits. I don't think this is who they were at all and it tears on the immersiveness for me. They have even been making all the different races faces look more human since Morrowind. No I don't like the directions they are taking the races, and the dremora, making them all less different than human. I think it's the (racial) "tolerance" training taken too far, these games should have embraced racial prejudice rather than hiding it - it's not earth, and not in our time frame neither. I don't need a programmer trying to teach me racial tolerance in my games I play in my leisure time. I would like to RP racial prejudice in The Elder Scrolls Games (different races, different prejudices), but it doesn't mean I am racist, just like some nice people like to RP evil. We should be allowed to play an alter-ego. Sorry, I may have went off on a tangent here. (I'm not racist by the way, I treat all races equally IRL.)

Skyrim.esm and Update.esm get disabled when I start Skyrim.
HalloweenWeed replied to ChiOngaku's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Perhaps you need to update NMM? -
I don't have a console controller so I can't speak for that. However, if I remember right, when you first start Skyrim your player walks by default, and you press <shift> to sprint (or is that something I configured in the "controls"?). Sprinting is different than running, sprinting is faster. However, when you hit <Caps lock> your player runs instead of walking, and then still sprints when I am pressing <shift>, until <caps lock> is toggled again. So try toggling your <caps lock> after you load your game. I'm thinking this prob is related to the control of <caps lock>. Watch the LED when you try to move.

Oh, you want character-changing (NPC) mods. Yeah that's going to be iffy, you just have to try it, but I think chances are if they change the onscreen text in any way (I think that means scripted) you would need the correct language. GL.

Default non-modded behavior: The dragons don't just "hang out" at their lairs, they occasionally fly around in the region of their lairs and attack things. AFAIK this only happens during the daytime, unless a battle extends into the night. Many of those "randomly appearing" dragons you killed may have been the ones at the lairs, and once you kill them, they do not respawn; i.e. you may have killed them already. Mods might increase their aggressiveness, I just don't know for sure. Don't know for sure this is your problem, but I give it a good probability.

A lot of mods are language-independent, such as graphic enhancement mods. They may have SkyUI settings in english, but if you are good enough to post so good here that shouldn't be a problem. Just watch out for mods that contain "scripting." Those are mostly mods with new areas, new quests, or mods that change/add items/ingredients such as Complete Alchemy & Cooking Overhaul (CACO). Also stay away from "complete overhauls."

Hmm. My wife used to play Skyrim about 50% of the time (her free time), for a couple of years, and one of her favorite and most exciting things to do was to make a new character (and develop him/her). I admit myself that there is often a great sense of freshness and eagerness to get developed when I start a new character. The planning is part of it too. The working out of the enchanted gear sets. The planning of the discovery of ingredient traits with the current set of ingredients. The gathering of said ingredients when your character isn't badass, avoiding some threats. The challenge of taking down a bear or even a sabre cat with a level 20some char. So I have to ask, why not make another character? Try one with different racial abilities (not the Bosmer, archery is just too easy even in vanilla Skyrim, you don't need archery buffs). Try one concentrating on magic. Try another concentrating on one-handed attacks (other than stealth-dagger), and shield bash. Try one concentrating on two-handed. Try one concentrating on thieves guild, dark brotherhood, daggers, and stealth (which is my current playthrough). Use some mods that you can't do with your veteran character, ones that need a new start. Perhaps even try a total conversion mod. Really, it's fun to play different characters with different mods.

Sorry, missed that. Scanning too fast on my lunch break.

You say you tried clean reinstall, but did you load a previous save? Your saves may be corrupted. When a CTD happens at particular times, it is associated with a game occurrence (NPC) that happens at that time, such as move to here, sit down here, Guard changes, NPCs moving into/out of cells, etc. CTDs can occur when the object that the NPC needs to use is not there, or the (external to the present) cell data cannot be accessed or has a problem (probably caused by mod incompatibility). At about that time, NPCs generally go into their homes, or Haelga's Bunkhouse. If there is an object in there defined by a previously used mod, and you do not have that mod loaded any more, this sort of thing can happen. And especially if you were using a mod containing a script, the game looks for the script, and if it doesn't find it, CTD. If a later mod overwrites what a previous mod (in your load order) needs, same thing, CTD. Your only alternative may be to load a save previous to the bug/corruption (with only mods you have already deemed safe). I know often people don't have this any more, and sorry but even if you fix the mod order, or remove the offending mod, it may require starting a new game. But I really think that starting a new game with your present and same mods loaded isn't going to fix your present problem. This is why I load mods very conservatively and investigate them carefully before installing them, and don't use too many. You are using so many mods you cannot effectively troubleshoot your problem. Even if you had a friend that said he used the same mods in the same load order and never a problem through the entire game, then you have a prob and find out he "never did that," or "never went in there," or "never did that quest," or "never used Alchemy."

Bug in distant trees and carpets
HalloweenWeed replied to Deleted1930520User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You may have an issue similar to this one: Bright blue leather rack texture Or not. Basically, you should first check to make sure you have installed the HD DLC package (assuming your computer can handle it), and added the unofficial HD patch to your mods. Check for all the things listed in that thread. Update your video drivers if avail. What mods are you running? I can tell you that Skyrim uses a different set of textures for distant objects, and that distance is set with the video setup advanced sliders. One way to somewhat mitigate this problem, but not eliminate it, is to move the view distance to the max. By your screenshot I can tell the slider is no more than default distance, which was set for 2011 computers. -
More info needed: What main quest are you at? Are you trying at night? Perhaps you have already killed them (elsewhere or nearby)? What mods are you running? Dragonborn DLC? If so, have you tried Solstheim?

I use the "Skyrim Unbound" mod instead.

You also need the +40% enchanting potion

Beats me. GL.

Yes, agreed 100%. I remember playing Skyrim (even before the February patch made it unplayable) without mods, and even without DLC. Honestly, the Dragonborn (Solstheim) DLC enhanced the game so much it alone made Skyrim into a different game. The black books introduced the most radical changes. I'm not a fan of Hermeaus Mora, and 'selling my soul' to get to the end result really bothered me at first, but all in all I really think it was a genius addition to the game. And allowing you to get more level ups by making skills "legendary" in order to get more perks was another genius idea. No other DLC comes close to being as 'game changing' as these points IMO. Yes I understand you were mostly talking about mods, but I thought I should take this thread one more step. I wouldn't even consider playing Skyrim without SkyUI, the vanilla interface was literally awfully simplistic, and when I accumulated a lot of inventory I dreaded the use of it, even when buying/selling. And Skyrim would be so terribly buggy without the Unoffical patches. Yes, many Kudos to the modders.

What happen to Enhanced Animations?
HalloweenWeed replied to ArmorKingEntertainment's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
this is why I always download and back up all mods, along with the author's instructions ("description" text), I've seen this happen too many times. And before you ask, no this wasn't one of them. Often the mod becomes obsolete due to some new update/DLC/patch and the author does not want to bother to fix his mod for compatibility, so he deletes it to prevent the inevitable complaints (this is not always the case). -
Thank you Sviatogor. I wish everybody would post their solutions when they find them, it would be more helpful to all of us.

I had a very successful playthrough, and then undid werewolf, but I really hated that the guards kept saying: "is that ... fur ... growing out of your ears?" and something about my smell smelling like dogs.
-
They should not have been there, I believe the vanilla game textures are kept elsewhere, and you were looking in the mod folders. But that just says that you have a vanilla texture issue. What is your video card and motherboard/CPU types? Is it a laptop? Try updating your video driver - but even 3 yr. old drivers should render those the right color. Have you included the High Resolution DLC? Have you added the Unofficial Legendary Edition patch (assuming you have all the DLC exc. the previous HR)? If you don't have all the DLCs, there are Unofficial Skyrim Patches for vanilla and then each DLC you use. There is also a HR DLC Unofficial patch, needed even with the Legendary Edition patch. This is just to get you fixed up "unmodded."

I tried to use MacroGamer within the console, it didn't work. But now that I think about it, it may have been my choice of activation key: F8.
-
I had a random CTD too when using Realistic Water Two. Then it was repeatable 100% of the time at a point in NE Solstheim (NW of the Skaal village) so I figured it out. Also, take this word of advice from a former troubleshooter of >10yrs.: don't assume 100% that just because you did those things that caused the problem. Sometimes it is just coincidence and there is another problem developing. Does it happen in other games? And yes, could be some mods and/or drivers don't play well with Win10 DirectX, sound, etc. When you know probable cause (the previous actions before the problem) it is all well and good to use troubleshooting shortcuts to save time, but when they don't work you should go back to the basics and start troubleshooting from the beginning without assuming anything.

^ +1. Agreed. No ideas other than is your game modded, and latest version?

Read: Boethiah's Calling This will happen if you either hit a cult member, or wander into their shrine area and linger too long, if I remember correctly. You aren't getting the masked cultists in Solstheim confused with the Boethiah cultists, are you? Why do you care? Save your game, not quicksave, and don't delete or overwrite this save. Use the console command to reset the quest: resetquest DA02 If that doesn't work, you can try to set freindship with the cult by using another console command: player.addfaction <factionID> 1or try higher numbers if 1 doesn't work. But I don't know the factionID of the Boethiah cult, you will have to google it and find it yourself. You could also try clicking on a cult member within the console menu and using that ID number for <factionID> but it may not work (won't hurt). You may need to leave the area of all hostile members before using the command, and avoid returning before the cells/areas reset (30 days max.). One way to try to make them non-hostile temporarily is a calm spell, if your magic is powerful enough. One day I plan to use this method (along with other modifications and many changes to factions status') to try a playthrough as a Forsworn.

Even Norton flags the Nexus as potentially harmful. I think it's because they figure someone could potentially put malicious code in a mod. I just tell it that it's OK.
