  1. I'm currently working on an ambitious mod to add the majority of the subway tunnels and stations to Boston following existing rail lines and those proposed to improve commuting in real life. I know of at least one other mod that does something like this, but for various reasons it didn't live up to my hopes. Currently, I'm cluttering the Blue line that runs from MGH station to Lynn, and I wanted my intact Nuka vending machines to require prewar money. In Fallout 3, I accomplished this by adding a script to the vending machine that triggers on activation, checks player prewar money amount, and shows a message asking if player wants to spend said money. If the player agrees, the money is removed and the machine is activated. If the player doesn't agree, the machine does nothing. If the player has insufficient funds, it shows a message saying so. I cut my modding teeth on Fallout 3 and could do this there no problem but I am clueless about doing this in Fallout 4. I'm sure there were good reasons for changing this way of scripting when upgrading to the newer game but I don't even know where to begin.
  2. When I recently crossed the 15o mod line, my game started crashing right on startup. Dropping back a couple of mods that added new raiders stopped the crashing. I'm currently trying to consolidate the smaller mods to see if this helps.
  3. Seeing the parts of the Giddyup Buttercup around the Commonwealth, made me want a craftable one that you could ride.
  4. I am currently making a mod to allow you to "save" President Eden. It always bugged me that you can't, even if you side with him. While designing an abandoned launch facility, I came up with the idea of dressing the area with racked SLAM jets. I'm new to Blender. So while I found it easy to assemble a simple model, I've not even begun to texture it. I'd love to have someone good with texturing help me out. Full credit, of course. I'm looking for something like this.
  5. Watched "Edge of Tomorrow" this weekend. Awesome film. At times it had a real Fallout feel even though it isn't post nuclear. I would love to have a Vertibird Blade like the Full Metal B**** wields. Thought about porting Lilly's blade over from my New Vegas game but it just doesn't have the right look. Making one myself is beyond my current skill set.
  6. I don't know what you're looking for but as I have received help from others I'd be willing to help in return. The only catch being that my skills are somewhat limited. I'd do what I could, would have to have some idea what you wanted.
  7. While working on a mod to " rescue" President Eden, I've been trying to add posters and billboards to the game. The problem I keep running into is that the new dds files don't show up on the billboards properly. I've gone through the forum but haven't found a clear description of how to make them work. It's driving me to drink when all I really want to do is work on level layout. Can someone help me out?
  8. Don't know if this has been addressed recently. Don't know what's going on, but I haven't been able to get to the old Nexus I know and love. I'm getting an all white screen with predominately text. No background art, limited pictures. I find trying to navigate this so difficult I'm ready to swear off checking it. I keep hoping that this is a temporary thing. Wondering if anyone else is suffering this.
  9. I can understand some of the issues if people don't want to do certain necessary quests that the developers put in their way. But several of these you mention, you could just as easily ignore. Brynof in the market place doesn't force you to join the Thieves' Guild. No Stormcloak or Legion soldier forces you to join a side. The thing I keep hearing that I don't understand is when people whine about uncleared journal entries. Really? If a civil war were taking place right now, do you think you wouldn't be aware of it? Do you think you wouldn't hear about it every day? Ever been to a city and been accosted by some street urchin? People offer you stuff all the time in real life and you either accept or you don't. You listen or you ignore them. Most people are aware of things around them that they aren't personally interested in. Doesn't trying to pretend you never heard of the civil war, the thieves' guild, or the mages' college destroy even the illusion of immersion?
  10. I find it more of a nuisance then anything. I stepped out of the apothecary in Whiterun only to turn and find Vamps trashing the entrance. By the time I got over there, the smithing chick was dead. Had to reload and run over to wipe them out.
  11. Can't remember which mod it is off hand, but I'm sure I've seen one where surrendering NPC's actually become non hostile.
  12. SPOILER: When going through the quest to track down the Atherium Forge, I looted the dead body of the woman whose ghost was following me. I didn't need the money (her armor was just basic) and it wasn't that valuable. She says, "You had to take my armor? You couldn't leave me with some dignity?" To add insult to injury, I have a body replacer mod, so her corpse was stark naked.
  13. Not sure what problem you're having. Most modders find the Creation Kit crashes when you try to load Dawnguard. The solution is to add "bAllowMultipleMasterFiles=1" ( without quotes ) to the General part of the SkyrimEditor.ini and add "Dawnguard.bsa" ( without quotes ) to the Archive part, under sArchiveList and the two SResourceArchiveLists. This will allow the Creation Kit to load the Dawnguard information for modding. Not really sure why they haven't updated the creation kit already with this.
  14. Don't forget to add: bAllowMultipleMasterFiles=1 under (General) in the SkyrimEditor.ini
  15. I've always wanted to help the Dominion get a better foothold in Skyrim. Did anyone actually turn down the Thalmore request in Markarth? I often play as a High Elf and every time someone is stupid enough to badmouth the Dominion, they find themselves in an early grave. Who did they think I would side with? Maybe it would be too much for the existing game to handle NPC fear of saying the wrong word to a possible Dominion agent.
  16. I wouldn't worry about Warkiller75; he's been banned.
  17. That's kind of my point. My original play through, I did all the work, amassed an army, eliminated House, set up Yes Man. Next thing I know, I'm not calling the shots. This massive plot hole opens up and swallows all my hard work. I have no problem leaving Yes Man to deal with the drudgery as long as he leaves the overall policy to me. Does this happen? No. He discovers that he no longer needs me to think for him. Total bummer. All it would take is one simple kill switch to keep Yes Man under your thumb. The rest of my suggestions are more to ensure that those you beat down, stay down.
  18. Totally wish you could set yourself up as the Overlord of Vegas. Kill or coerce the casino factions. Destroy the NCR embassy, maybe crash the monorail into it. Promise the Followers of the Apocalypse and the Brotherhood of Steel the opportunity to raid some of House's prewar tech. Give the Remnant a real chance at glory. All for the small price of their eternal souls, er, obedience.
  19. In the elevator message for the elevator, there are two conflicting conditions. One says to display the choice if the player isn't in the cell ( == 0) and if they are in the cell ( == 1). Simply delete the "== 1" condition.
  20. I've always felt F:NV to be a poor follow up to FO3. I know that this will make me unpopular. But the common theme I seem to find is that those that love F:NV most are those that played the original games. The most common reason for loving F:NV is because it seems to flow straight from the old titles. Let me make this argument: Compare each game's improvement over what came before. Before FO3, the Fallout franchise was dead in the water, despite being loved by long time fans. Think of all that had to be created to bring Fallout back. Not only that, make it accessible to the average gamer (such as myself). I keep recalling all the praise that was heaped on FO3 when it was first released. And I still have my collector's art book from FO3. The art development was spectacular. Compare this to the step F:NV had to make from FO3. Ask yourself how much actual new material was added to F:NV. The majority of material is taken directly from FO3. I'd argue that the mods that allow you to play both games together and those that port a mod from one game to the other prove my point. If developers follow this simple formula, all the developers need to do is take the sum total of FO3 and F:NV, add a couple of new improvements and it will be the greatest Fallout ever. Everyone will be sitting around, scratching their heads, wondering why everyone thinks the new game is so much better. My greatest problem from F:NV is the lack of immersion. When I played Oblivion, I got lost in the game. I played FO3, and got lost in the game. More then once. I played F:NV, I kept being reminded of things that came straight from FO3. You pick up a weapon, enter a room, look at the scripting, it was pulled almost whole from FO3. It takes more to create something new then to copy something already done.
  21. Currently, I'm working on a mod to allow you to explore a bit of a planet in the vicinity of Alpha Centauri. I do realize this name means the whole system and not one particular star. After playing through F:NV, I felt a little cheated that I couldn't follow Bright and his followers. Since no one seemed to be working on this, I decided to do it myself. My rough story background is along the lines of a prewar setup that got totally screwed right before the war. Think early colony, incomplete setup, military intervention on the first manned trip out, paranoia, spy infiltration, sabotage, industrial secrets and crossed goals, all in the past. There is a little twist I've been working on and a few set pieces I have in mind. Currently, I'm primarily working on the world space exteriors, fleshing out the largest locations. Some interior work has been completed. Locations: Several islands in a chain in an otherwise water world, Repconn training facility, support grounds, a secondary launch location, a satelite relay facility with teleporter, green houses, a crash site, and some others that would be uncovered by unfolding quest lines. Since I'm fairly new to modding, I'm pretty much learning by trial and error and data mining. The majority of my work involves slight alterations to the vanilla game, working within the GECK. I've started posting some of the screenshots (discovered this by accident) to this mod.
  22. I've been modding for just a couple of months now and am constantly trying to improve my technique. I've recently tried using DLC from Bethesda in other areas (furniture from Zeta, for example). But when I load my mod to the game and play, I only get the ! triangle. If I put the object in a container, like armor based on the Chinese stealth from Operation Anchorage, I can see it in my inventory with a warning of misssing content. If I then put it on, that section of my character's body is gone. I've altered the GECKCustom.ini. line to allow multiple Master file loads to the geck and I have all the applicable master files loaded when I play the game. What am I doing wrong?
