  1. I asked about this several years ago but fell out of Skyrim since then until recently. I've always wanted a mod that sets the game's timescale to something slower while you're in dialogue, to get past the problem of a friendly chat with an NPC taking up half the day just because the timescale is zooming by in the background. I remember back when I previously asked, someone actually made the mod for me, apparently it was super simple to implement, but the attachment no longer works (it was here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3260204-change-timescale-during-dialogue/). I have the Dynamic Timescale mod installed and I love it, but does anyone know of a way to add an option for setting the timescale during dialogue as well as combat?
  2. I'm making this post in a sort of dull desperation because I'm rapidly losing all hope that my copy of Skyrim will ever work again, even in vanilla. I've had it on PC for about a year and I used to have tons of mods installed. Apart from the odd crash here and there, it was mostly stable, even with 200+ mods installed. Keep in mind at this point I was still very much a novice modder, using NMM and not even understanding what SKSE did. Maybe half a year ago I switched to MO because my game was having a lot of problems, and at first it seemed to work. But then my game started having bigger problems. Problems like every save I had crashing my entire game, which necessitated a complete reinstall of the game. Then it crashed every time I entered Falkreath Hold - the ENTIRE hold crashed my game. That meant another complete reinstall. And now? Now the game crashes at an unacceptable rate. It crashes almost every time I try to save, unless I die first and then save (and that has to be repeated every fifteen minutes or it starts crashing again). It also crashes at random spots around the game, whether going through a loading screen or just running around the landscape. I'm just... so done. I don't know what's causing it. I've looked up every variation of "how to make Skyrim stop crashing because of X" that I can think of and nothing has helped. I installed some mods that are supposed to increase stability - no change, still crashes. A month or two ago I uninstalled more than half of the mods I had left, with most of the remaining ones being things like hair and tattoo mods, no major overhauls or anything. And it's still crashing. I can't pinpoint what's causing it. I don't know what to do. Skyrim used to be my favorite game, and now playing it is just so stressful because I never know when it's going to crash next. I want to play modded Skyrim, I don't want to have to play vanilla, but if that's what it takes to make it work again then f*#@ it. Can someone just... take a look at my load order to see if there's something that I've missed? I use MO, I pay attention to the requirements listed on every mod's page, I avoid incompatibilities, I double check everything I install. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I just want my game back. 3. Bahaha yep. Thanks for helping though, I appreciate it even if I pretty much failed at everything haha
  4. Really? How did you even get it to work for you, I swear every time I try to use this program I encounter yet another roadblock. It's a big reason why I'm so woefully inept at modding, because there's no way for me to get any damn practice with Creation Kit always f*#@ing up
  5. Well I tried verifying cache to see if it got deleted somehow - nothing happened but now I'm getting this when I try to load the master files: Assert File: ..\TES Shared\misc\BGSLocalizedString.cpp Line: 2871 LOCALIZATION: Error opening or reading strings file. No matter what I do, if I press Abort, Retry, or Ignore - no matter what Creation Kit crashes shortly afterwards. I'm so beyond done trying to get this stupid program to f*#@ing work
  6. I'm... a little lost on that. I tried to create a script? I think I did it right? But when I try to make it it says "The extends script does not exist, please pick a new one" and all the fixes I've been looking up basically say that I need to extract scripts from scripts.rar except that folder seems to literally just not exist for me and I'm getting really frustrated.... Like, I haven't done anything in the Creation Kit before apart from creating and altering NPCs. And the wiki makes no sense to me. I'm really just blundering my way through all this.
  7. mfancy I'm not entirely sure how to "take a look at their script." I've got the file open in Creation Kit now but I don't know where to look to see what they've altered... is there something I'm missing? sLoPpYdOtBiGhOlE Thanks, I'm playing with it now, hopefully I can find something that will work. I'm kinda unfamiliar with everything in Creation Kit not related to making/editing an NPC, haha.
  8. So I've searched all over but never found anything like this and I wanted to know if it was possible. Basically I picked up Oblivion several months ago and I enjoyed how the game would pause during dialogue, so I didn't have to worry about wasting my day talking to one person. I kind of want something similar in Skyrim, only say, just slowing down the timescale during dialogue. So if I have my timescale set to default, 20, then it only passes at a speed of 10 during dialogue. (This is honestly kind of made necessary with Interesting NPCs since they talk FOREVER and take up half my day with talking.) I don't want to request this or anything, I'd much rather make it myself - just wondering if, theoretically, it might be possible to make something like this in Creation Kit or whatever.
  9. Okay, new problem. I'm getting frustrated. Suddenly it seems all my mods except OneTweak are working again, but now it won't launch SKSE. As in, I tell MO to launch SKSE, and it launches Skyrim. I tried starting a new game to test and got like 5000 alerts from all my mods saying "SKSE isn't installed! This mod won't work correctly!" How... what... why.... EDIT: Oh never mind lol. The SKSE launcher through MO was pointing at TESV.exe, not SKSE itself. Fixed. I think that's all my problems solved now... gah that was a nightmare. Thanks for your help though!
  10. Okay... I let it run and it's still starting up vanilla, with no mods. I need to find out how to point it at where mods would normally be installed. NO guides I've looked at seem to have any instructions on how to do this.
  11. So I moved the Mod Organizer folder to the Skyrim folder and tried to run SKSE, and got this message: "This process requires elevation to run. This is a potential security risk so I highly advise you to investigate if 'C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Skyrim/TESV.exe' can be installed to work without elevation. Start elevated anyway? (you will be asked if you want to allow ModOrganizer.exe to make changes to the system)" I... do not know what "elevation" means in this context. I'm afraid to click yes because I don't want it to mess up my game/computer....
  12. Yeah, the mods are in the "mods" folder in Mod Organizer, I checked. I have Mod Organizer hanging out in a little folder called "f*#@ Everything" in My Documents (because modding Skyrim is the most frustrating thing I've ever done), but that's where it's always been - I've never had any problems with it being there before. Do I just... move the folders over to the Skyrim folder, or something? I prefer not to watch videos tbh, it's annoying to sit there and watch them cover everything I don't need first before they get to what I want, if they even do - and the only way to find out is to watch the whoooole thing. I used this guide when first starting out, but either I'm really bad at searching for stuff or there's nothing on how to get MO to run your mods in it, just how to install them (which I already know how to do).
  13. Yeah they're installed in Program Files (x86), but I've already made sure that MO, SKSE, and TESV.exe are running as administrator. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with MO not knowing where to put the mods while running the game, but I've been searching everywhere and there's no guide that I can find on how to do this, which is why I need someone experienced with MO. I'm still fairly new to it and I'm not that good at modding to begin with, I've just sort of stumbled my way into it and still have major problems with unstable load orders (although that's not my main focus right now. I need a damn modding tutor).
  14. Yeah, it's in there. I've spent an hour trying to get everything back to the way it was. I definitely remember something about pointing MO to where it's supposed to install the mods, which I had to do when I first installed it, but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do that, and I can't find any instructions on it in the guide. I'm not sure if that's the problem but it seems likely.
  15. So I've taken a break from Skyrim lately but a friend requested a tiny mod so I made it in Creation Kit really quick, and wanted to test it. I had a BUNCH of problems starting Skyrim, I think I reinstalled it recently so I was getting all sorts of problems, I had to reinstall SKSE, and it was a nightmare even getting MO to run SKSE at all. I fixed all that, but now I have a problem that has literally no solution online. I have all these mods installed through MO, and they've always worked fine before, but now when I run SKSE they don't show up at all. It's like it just runs the vanilla game without any of the mods installed. I don't understand it. And before you ask, YES, I am launching it through MO. All the plugins I want are checked but when I launch it through MO, no mods are loaded in the game. Please help. I'm tearing my hair out.
  16. Oh good lol, glad it worked. Sometimes mods can get a little wonky and refuse to work and then suddenly decide to work one day. Happened to me, I was in tears over a mod completely breaking my game and then all of a sudden one day - bam, back to working again. Have fun being a bard! :D
  17. Nah, Skyrim doesn't update anymore. It's too old of a game. You might be able to get away with just reinstalling Skyrim, but I can't be sure. I can't even guarantee that uninstalling and reinstalling all mods will solve it either, but if you've got a few free hours it might be worth it. If nothing else, doing that has always worked out a ton of bugs in the system for me nonetheless - mods you didn't even realize were malfunctioning because you've had them installed for so long, and such. All of your saves would remain intact, although backing them up is always a good idea. Do you use BOSS or LOOT or anything to sort your mods? Oh, and I checked the mod page and the author suggested it could be an installer issue. In that case you could simply try reinstalling Steam or NMM. EDIT: It looks like other people are having trouble with NMM not downloading mods too. Look here. That might be your issue. (It doesn't have a solution yet, but if others are having the same problem there's no doubt it'll be fixed eventually.)
  18. Did you install any other mods recently? Something could be interfering with it working. Otherwise, you could try uninstalling all mods, reinstalling Skyrim and then reinstalling your mods again. That's my go-to solution for big mod-caused problems, and it usually fixes stuff. (A bit time-consuming, but if it works....)
  19. Okay, straight to the point. I have a very simple problem: my game sometimes (though not always) CTDs at the start of combat. Specifically, as soon as I try to draw my weapon. It only happens every once in a while, so I can still usually do combat normally, but it happens just often enough that it's a nuisance that I'd rather go out of my way to get rid of. They're active in any game I play. Also this was sorted with LOOT.) Anyone see any conflicts that could be causing a crash like this? I've tried to get it as stable as I can, Mod Organizer has been a godsend with solving a lot of my crashing problems, but this solution still eludes me and even though I've been playing modded Skyrim for almost a year I'm still really just a novice. On a somewhat related note, my game has a tendency to CTD on quicksave/autosave if I've loaded a previously saved game and then try to save. I do have a solution for this one that works perfectly, but it's a bit inconvenient because I have to do it every time I start up Skyrim to get it working. It's not a priority because like I said I have a temporary solution, but if anyone has any insight on that I'd appreciate it.
  20. So basically I have Civil War Overhaul right now but it's not installed. I'm planning to do a kind of triple-run of the game with three different characters, each joining different guilds and doing different quests, so it seems like they're all doing it at the same time (only one will be DB, the others are using alternate starts). Because of this only one will be doing the Civil War, and I plan to just do it vanilla because I've heard that CWO is extremely buggy. My question is, what will happen if I install CWO on characters who I don't plan to do the Civil War with, and then just use the MCM option to instantly win the war? In particular I want to win it for the Imperials with my thief character, so that she can enjoy the benefits of having Maven Black-Briar as Riften's Jarl, without personally choosing a side in the war. I'm just worried that doing this with CWO will break my game due to bugs, and if so, is there a way I can fully complete the vanilla Civil War with just console commands, including specific things like killing Ulfric and ousting Stormcloak-aligned Jarls (or is that likely to break my game too). I could just test it on a new save but if I did do this with MCM/console commands I would be doing it about halfway through the game, and I don't want to screw up my entire character. If there's no way to do this safely, then no big deal, just wanted to know if it was possible without breaking my game in half. EDIT: Almost forgot, I have had CWO installed before, I've just never actually gotten around to doing the Civil War with it installed, so I really have no idea just how buggy it is, because technically I've never used it.
  21. Okay I'm new to the forums and I've never really used forums anyway so bear with me here if I violate some unspoken protocol accidentally please. Also I apologize for the length but this requires some explanation - tl;dr at the end for people who can't be bothered reading the whole thing. I've come here because I have a very specific problem and I can't find ANYTHING online with someone having the exact same issue. There are similar issues but none match up with what I've been experiencing. Besides, most of the "fixes" for the similar problems are from 2012. I'm going to start from the beginning in case it will help someone potentially figure out what happened. So I was playing the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood questlines simultaneously, and I had just gotten the Thieves Guild quest that requires you to go to Pinewatch. I fast traveled to Falkreath and started walking there, and about halfway there (near the bridge with the bandits and rock trap) my game CTD'd. No biggie, I thought, happens every once in a while, I have a fairly demanding amount of mods anyway (about 170 plugins active). So I reloaded and the game proceeded smoothly from there, I got to Pinewatch, entered, and did the whole quest inside without any trouble. The problem came when I went back to the door and tried to exit outside. Instant CTD on the loading screen. Frustrated, I reloaded and tried to go outside again - same thing. I must have tried about five times, CTD every time. So the next time I stayed inside Pinewatch and just used the console to teleport to Markarth to turn in the quest, then fast traveled to Riften, etc. No problems whatsoever. Eventually I wanted to go back to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in Falkreath Hold, so I fast traveled there. It loaded me outside the entrance for a split second, then CTD. I tried again and it loaded correctly, so I sprinted into the sanctuary. I was doing the whole part with Cicero's attack and Shadowmere and going to the Dawnstar sanctuary, and I somehow managed to keep it stable long enough to get Shadowmere and fast travel to Dawnstar. I completed the quest there with no problems. Mounted Shadowmere and tried to fast travel back to the DBS - CTD. This time I tried to use the console to teleport directly into the DBS. It loaded me inside, I took about five steps and CTD. At this point I figured my save game probably got corrupted somehow and I wasn't too upset since I was only level 22 or so, so I quit and decided to start a new character. I have Live Another Life and happened to choose an alternate start that put me in Falkreath - CTD. This is when I began to get an inkling that there was a bigger problem. I started disabling certain mods and choosing the same start in Falkreath to test it - the game CTD'd about 80% of the time. The times when it didn't were as follows - once when I disabled Fire and Ice Overhaul (I kept it disabled but it CTD'd later even without the mod), once when I got rid of a textures folder (I saw this as a possible way of diagnosing the problem online), and then I think once just completely randomly. I tested it again by starting in Dawnstar and then taking a carriage down to Falkreath - CTD. I started in Whiterun and ran south, trying to determine the exact borders of the crash area. With some experimenting (and CTDing) I eventually figured out that the area that would crash is basically the entire hold - everything east of Twilight Sepulchre, to south of Half-Moon Mill, to west of Pinewatch - basically that entire big area will crash immediately upon entering. Helgen doesn't crash, I tried the vanilla start a couple times I think and it worked fine. Basically, I'm COMPLETELY lost. I'm competent at modding but only as far as mod descriptions can guide me, I'm no programmer. I pay close attention to compatibility, and I don't see how it can be a compatibility issue anyway. This thing started completely out of nowhere, I hadn't installed or uninstalled any mods mid-game before this happened, it's like Pinewatch just screwed up my entire game. I usually start having some increased crashing issues around level 20 (that's its own problem and I have a suspicion it's pure coincidence anyway due to the nature of the crashes) but nothing that carried over to a new save game. It's like it's not the save game that's corrupted, it's the ENTIRE game. As I write this I'm uninstalling every mod I have to see if that fixes anything (which is why I haven't included a list of my mods/load order - it changes from playthrough to playthrough anyway). As for mods and commonly suggested solutions for similar problems, by the way, no I don't have Scenic Carriages, no I didn't build the Falkreath homestead, yes I have high-def texture and lighting mods but this problem started before I ever installed those. I tried disabling Skysight and that didn't work. Tried disabling Wet and Cold and that didn't work. And no, I don't have Footprints. I use NMM and I sort it with LOOT, if that helps. If ANYONE has any insight to offer, I would REALLY appreciate it. I just don't know what's causing this and I can't find any information about this situation. --------- tl;dr My game CTDs if I go anywhere in Falkreath Hold, whether on a new or existing save, and I can't figure out the cause.
