I have yet to understand as to why nuking institute is the only option outside of joining them. Yes yes, BoS and all that, but honestly if I had an option to capture institute rather than destroy it would be better.

That's not anything like an m249 though Nope but 14mm? Poor paladins fallen like rotten apples.

The people of the Commonwealth despise synths because they see them as Institute errand boys or body snatchers out to replace you. The Broken Mask incident and the CPG Massacre both served to fan this paranoia, despite the fact that there is sound evidence the Institute did not actually seek either outcome. That and people constantly disappearing which, while not all might have been due to the Institute, was likely because of various unethical tests including the FEV experiment because we just can't have a Fallout game without Super Mutants now can we? Which leads me to a question, who could have any profit from FEV experiments cause unlike Vault-Tec and Enclave, the Institute was formed from scientists belonging to neither mentioned faction. Answer is: Before turning to cybernethics and synthethics they seeked to create artificial human using modified FEV virus, unintentionally ending up discovering that FEV effects can be reversed plus also discovering that there is more than just one or two strains. Which also one of few things Brotherhood has yet to try, playing with FEV. Well regarding synths that is quite a dilemma should they be treated as equal to humans or as cheap labor force as it was intended, I think that the Institute didn't put a lot of thought into this matter before they begun with 3rd gen production else they would not allow for synths to be able to think for themselves, to me it is more looking as an experiment gone awry rather than actual intention. Much like Brotherhood recruits a tribal and expects them to blindly follow their directives and ideology? Unlikely. Brotherhood soldiers are raised within Brotherhood cause Brotherhood knows that otherwise it would be much more resource and time consuming. Knight Rhys is shining example of such. Same goes for synths, allowing them to be selfaware rather than simply being programed for few tasks cycling around. Reminds me of my mother and what she said once. "You pressed hard on me just to buy a dog, so now be responsible and take care of her, it is your dog, not mine."

I have the issue with stealth as well, though enemies immediately getting my location upon first silenced shot is rare, mostly cause when I fire once I change location and fire again. But still most logical reaction when two raiders are on guard and one suddenly drops down dead, the other one usually either panics or starts looking around while going to cover, yet they shouldn't know where you are. In Skyrim it worked, perhaps even in New Vegas, trying to kill them up close and personal while staying in shadows is nearly impossible so I ditched my beloved combat knife.

Actually Preston isn't bothered as much as others when you choose the Institute ending, thing is the surface is convinced that the Institute is evil and there is no way to convince them otherwise. As to why destroy the entire chapter, the brotherhood made it quite clear that they will not tolerate anyone apart from them alone keeping pre-war and further developed technology so if it wasn't the institute but someone else they would adopt the same stance, though they only came to Commonwealth given the occurence of synth appearance in Capitol Wasteland. So Maxon will not agree to anything outside their own agenda, the fact that they plan to use Liberty Prime and detonate the nuclear reactor speaks against their good intentions. As for the railroad I doubt their impact on Commonwealth will be as they think it will be. Sure they mean well but they forget that even without the institute the synths are problem for the commonwealth given the paranoia won't just dissapear, so in terms of ideology Railroad is tad naive even when they admit it will not be ideal. Because technically it was that sole incident in Diamond city that sparked this paranoia (Just my opinion, not sure if that was where it all begun.).

I'd recommend the new simonov rifle which packs quite a punch.

I am actually not really fond of other endings especially because they involve a nuclear detonation, which doesn't quite help the commonwealth in fact it makes life in commonwealth even more harder for next years given the fallout spread, even if it's an underground explosion, such blast surely will destabilize any settlement in several miles radius, not to mention mixed opinions on Brotherhood itself as commonwealth inhabitants aren't exactly happy to be in their presence at all. "You either are with the Brotherhood or against it." is something people would not accept only because Brotherhood gets rid of the Institute. Personally I consider the Institute not so bad simply because you are about to lead the Institute in your own way as Shaun suggests at the end. Although just between you and me I think that all endings are kind of half-assed.

Fallout 4 - a major Synth plothole question
k361 replied to darkus37's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Oh by the way I found two great sites that I feel were kinda left out. Sentinel site and something K21 or K12b Installation? Anyway the definition of their goal came from wiki and I am quite interested in it as everyday since I begun my 2nd and thorough playthrough I get new informations about the institute yeah first play was rushed kinda so I missed most of things, like institute kidnapping people and subjecting them to FEV etc etc. Also a question, did I miss something or you have to have a holotape for Virgil and Swan mention to pop up in dialogue? -
Fallout 4 - a major Synth plothole question

Where does it even say that? I keep seeing this pop up on tv tropes.com but I have never seen it personally in game. Was there a memo I missed? Sadly the only source I have at the moment is fallout wiki as last fallout bible installment was at 2002 maybe? But no worries, ever since the first fallout game I always did a thorough gameplay searching for notes holotapes and terminals, Fallout 4 is the first game that deals with the Institute in wider range so if there is a mention regarding their policy and general aim I will find it. -
Fallout 4 - a major Synth plothole question
k361 replied to darkus37's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It is quite obvious, as for Institute's main goal they seek to eradicate last traces of pre-war society which people seem to embrace still and replace it with a new model, as for what that model could be, some sort of utopian society most likely. Regarding 3rd gen synths I'd refer to Blade Runner in fact. Personally I think that Instutite to an extent still didn't move over the initial failure when they attempted to introduce synths to surface population. Sneaking in upgraded model hoping that one day people will understand and learn to tolerate them could be what they are trying to pull off lately, but that is only a speculation. As for the creation process I think it is mostly automated, maybe costly but seems the Institute can afford it. Replacing existing people with their synth double, so far I seen in-game that Institute is rather pragmatic no matter how cold it may sound they to my knowledge which isn't much honestly replace mostly people whom do not contribute, like Warwick. Well I personally think that Institute is pulling the short end here cause synths may not fully replace human agents on the surface and human agents could be more effective but unlike synths whom you can program exactly what you need them to do, human agents tend to think for themselves and as an example here is Kellogg whom was quite a mercenary but perhaps unfit for acquisition operations. Conquest is viable if you have standing military force and resources to back it up. Kellogg obviously forgot about human assets being actually more useful. Much like Institute which is kind of scared to try again, not to mention that people see them as the boogeyman, at the end Institute left surfacers to that and begun representing itself as such. Yet both Institute and Kellogg went wrong way when dealing with the surface. -

Well I never seen a single BoS patrol so far, maybe cause raiders and mutants at later stages can shot their vertibirds down quite easily. -

If it's survival beta you are talking about, mod support is not implemented cause, well I think cause it's a beta. -
Interesting way to start the game in a different way
k361 replied to WaRi0's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Explains why I have bajillion of settlements already without going to Concord heh When Preston came to Sanctuary it already had 10 settlers and established trader routes. Who needs factions when you can become King of Commonwealth on your own:P
