  1. In response to post #64331406. #64332176, #64332461, #64333581, #64357321, #64359236 are all replies on the same post. Everyone is free to use whatever software they want - go use WryeBash if it makes you happy and you have a stable load order. But at no point do you have a right to be upset about unsupported, buggy, outdated software that has been replaced by something inherently better. There are always going to be hurdles when things like this change, but the truth is that for any new users that start modding now they're going to have a much better experience. The automation and Nexus integration Vortex provides when sorting load orders means far fewer things are going to break, UI improvements means conflicts are clearly shown, and the expertise behind it means installations aren't broken. The truth is it's part luck, part ignorance, and part stubbornness that brings people here trying to cling to NMM. But if you actually spend some time getting to known the software, which isn't anywhere near as long as MO2 because you're guided when something isn't right, then you'll probably find that reinstalling your mod list isn't that much of a chore and this isn't as big a deal as you might think.

If you want to run Fallout 4's F4SE through Steam so that you can use a Steam Controller, but don't want to run Steam in admin mode because of the possible security hole, then using MO2 isn't going to go well. This led me to try Vortex out of curiosity, and having used it for a few months now I can safely say that comments like "MO2 is far superior" are massive overstatements likely borne out of ignorance. I won't ever give up MO2 for SSE, because like Dark0ne said my game is perfectly stable, and also the UI is more mature for managing lots of external tools. But that doesn't mean it's better in all areas. Vortex has some usability advantages over MO2 that I appreciate, and you'd be silly to disregard that entirely. My point is that there's a lot of exaggeration when the truth is that Vortex is absolutely fine as a mod manager. Vortex and MO2 both have their place in the modding community. As a parting gift I will recommend that if you do try Vortex, customise the theme and remove some of the empty space. The UI isn't that mature yet, so it benefits from a bit of tweaking. Customise the Dashboard and you'll never see the "Trailers" that I've seen mentioned in other comments here.
  3. Everything is fine now. I remembered Occam's Razor, and decided to go back through my checks. I started from absolute scratch, and realised that I'd been taking for granted what MO used to do that NMM doesn't, like actually install mods properly. So I reinstalled everything one by one, starting with Alternate Start and starting a new game every every 3-5 mods to check that it still worked. It does.
  4. I didn't think to check the forums before I posted, so this is essentially a cross-post from Alternate Start's posts section to open it up to a wider audience. Below is a copy paste of the conversation so far in the hope that someone can enlighten me. My best guess is that for some reason the bed isn't switching from disabled/active to enabled/disabled, which is why I can leave through the door when I choose that option. Something I didn't mention below is that the quest updates when I pick an option, which if we're looking at it in detail may be relevant.
