fomm crashing when trying to login
prandiningrat replied to mickgoth's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
this program use autoupdate, if you dont have internet connection or will update manually, click 'setting' tab, setupform will appear. find and uncheck setting "check for new foMODS versions". -
his mainboard using LGA 775(maybe with 945 intel chipset),and cant upgrade to i5 or i7..I think he needs core2duo or quadcore cpu before upgrading GPU..or its time to build new PC..

Help me with my crashing problems
prandiningrat replied to awesomesauce96's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
you dont need to change fallout3esm to fallout.esp. fallout3 prefer esm, using esp is one of the reasons that causing falout3 to crash, most peoples recommend to using masterupdate with fo3, thats change mod header from esp to esm.. i think you need to post your mod load order, maybe they can help you .. -
high pitched clipping sound
prandiningrat replied to nisen's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
That's possible. I mean you should try to install/upgrade drirectX in my post above, not graphic driver. You dont need to uninstall ati cc, that program required to configure your graphic setting.and not related with your problem.. -
Moving Fallout3 folder makes the game wont start, because this path used in registry and checked when starting the game. reg key using this path is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3] . Move back your installation folder..or edit your path in reg key.. the exclamation mark '!' caused by wrong meshes in your mods, and not related with installation folder..

Nifskope crashes under win7
prandiningrat replied to mancika's topic in Hardware and software discussion
I'm using nVidia, and nifskope using 'nvoglnt.dll'. I mean for multitexturing. Thats nVidia compatible OpenGL. I'm sure ATI is the same as nVidia. Have you tried to uncheck 'antialiasing' or 'shaders' under render menu?? and also you can read 'known issues and workarounds' in nifskope readme.txt. -
keep your 5870CF, 6970 i've heard in about $500. might be best you waiting for HD 6990, that's using multi/dual GPU. problem of 'micro stuterring' that often occurs in mutli/dual GPU, hopefully can be resolved on the HD 6990. here is leaked specification of HD6990 you can crossfire it too, and get Quad GPU..That's probably you need i7 if you wont get bottleneck..

high pitched clipping sound
prandiningrat replied to nisen's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
It's looks like, a problem with DirectShow Runtime. try to updating your directx, and reinstall your audio driver(you must restart PC after remove before reinstall).. also, you can check your system what program that use codec.. -
Nifskope crashes under win7
prandiningrat replied to mancika's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Mightbe that's not compatible with win 7 x86, but i can see nifskope working fine under that OS(win 7 x86) not even try to changing compatibiltiy settings.. I know that Win 7 has built in driver but usually too old, so you can try to update your GPU driver..because this program using GPU OpenGL to work(rendering process). or try to reinstalling with new version with delete all registry keys related to this program.. -
Help me with my crashing problems
prandiningrat replied to awesomesauce96's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Thats probably fallout3.esm not fallout3.esp.. You dont need deactivated fallout3.esm, this is main ESM and needed for your games..try deleteing all ini files in your Fallout3 Save folder..ini files will generate when you starting the game.. -
Need advice about PC building
prandiningrat replied to brokenergy's topic in Hardware and software discussion
This 6870 is good too,if cheap you can also consider to buy two and crossfire them.only if 6950 and 6970 can't meet the price. might be you need to know, the 6870 is worse than the 5870 and the 6850 is worse than the 5850. The 6870 is replacement for 5770. 6970 is replacing the 5870. My advice, one of your parts should be the best, because you need keep this PC for a long time. I think choosing a good motherboard, is great idea. you need buy it first. This part will determine other parts, and when you need to upgrade PC. -
Need advice about PC building
prandiningrat replied to brokenergy's topic in Hardware and software discussion
for graphic card, buying 4890 is still good idea.. here is comparison ATI 5970 TDP 294 Watt, in Crysis 109 fps, 3D Mark Vantage benchmark 16,361 point... nVidia GTX 480 TDP 324 Watt, in Crysis 85 fps, 3D Mark Vantage benchmark 14,974 point. ATI 5870 TDP 188 Watt, in crysis 80 fps, 3D Mark Vantage benchmark 14,302 point. ATI 4890 190 Watt, crysis 54 fps, 3D Mark Vantage benchmark 10.339 point... you can compare them in price, if 5870 in your budget is match, that is good too, or maybe you can also considering new comer, the HD6970. If less than $300, you should buy it, this not wasting your money.. for CPU, i dont know Intel Core i5 QC 760 2.66GHz, as far as i know i5 760 is 2.8 GHz, and 750 is 2.66 GHz.. I suggest Intel Core i7-875K, because easy to OC, and price is approximately the same with processor that paxan suggested above. some hardware reviewer recomends Intel Core i7-870 because the price dropped drastically form $650 to $350 last month(in my place). dont know in AU. I think buying PSU, after you've had GPU and CPU.. -
how do you mod faction and rank, with console?
prandiningrat replied to dead1966's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I think, there is no rank 8 of Bos faction, only 7 (elder), but you can modify it, but not in console... you can see faction id's in GECK or FO3 edit.. -

prandiningrat replied to brokenergy's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE, as paxan suggested above is good, cause other than good performance, that processor also easy to overclock.. if you prefer Intel, I would recommend Intel Core i7-875K or Intel Core i7-870.. You should choose the platform first when build new PC, Intel or AMD.. -
If you not consider price, i dont know exactly 6970..but this replace your 5870's. if match, you can also try tri-fire.. I think 570 SLI is not worthy than 6970CF, and if you use 3-fire its should be better than 580SLI.. Personally, i prefer using single graphic, because driver is still big problem when using multi GPU.. if you wish to use single graphic, you should waiting for ATI 6990..

how do you mod faction and rank, with console?
prandiningrat replied to dead1966's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
i think that wont work when using console, only on script. when using consoles player.setfactionrank 1d3fe 7 or player.addtofaction 1d3fe 7 . 1d3fe is Bos faction ID. -
My Custom Build Specifications
prandiningrat replied to stealtrecon's topic in Hardware and software discussion
other than that application, like i said before, I dont know what applications that use large memory more than 24GB(in one application).. if you just want to be a game designer(using AutoCAD, maya, 3dmax etc..), as urbex said, I think specification of your computer should use the best GPU/CPU rather than considering big memory. -
Because there are many antivirus out there, maybe for your research you need advice from this: 1. If think about antivirus performance : http://www.passmark.com/avreport (keep in mind.apparently they worked with Symantec ) 2. based on antivirus how often to be updated: http://www.av-test.org 3. if think how good antivirus detects virus : http://www.av-comparatives.org whatever antivirus you choose. good luck with the research, and congrats for your new machine...

My Custom Build Specifications
prandiningrat replied to stealtrecon's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Just if you wish not only to be game designer. may be also software designer/developer. as urbex said, this program will let you run applications in all Operating system(windows, linux) simultaneously in one computer (virtualization). I never think if our RAM only 6GB and use Win 7, then run all windows version from Win 3.1 to Win 7 with that application. -
I think that's not opinion (sorry for wrong terms) because based on benchmark test. this tested when Core i7 was released in 2008, and want to know how to bring the speed of Core i7..using the first release of SSD X25-M 80 GB and Core i7 965 EE. The conclusion of this test i post above.. The constraint of SSD why not bring the speed we want, because of ICH10. For now, if we want increase speed of SSD we should increase of CPU clock. I'm sure, Mr LHammonds WEi of SSD will get more than 7.5 when increasing CPU clock. i7 965 overclocked to 4.2 from 3.2 without addition/changing the voltage. but temperatures is old enemy of OC. idle temperature when overclocked to 4.2 is 70C and full load is 100C with standard heatsink... I'm personally was not excited with Core i7 when was released, they change the platform FSB to QPI but the motherboard chipset still using an old controller (ICH10). this controller also used by X48 (which was used by QuadCore,Core2duo, etc). Motherboard that using SATA III now only third party chipset, not Intel itself..

I was remember what application that can use 24 GB of memory, VMware® Workstation will let you maxed out the memory you have. New version of this program support memory until 32GB. so if you have planning using 96GB, why not? -
FALLOUT3.exe - Application Error
prandiningrat replied to 7thsealord's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
My personal problem is different, although using new FOSE., the game still get halt error. I've never had this error when in game world, only when go to main menu (when UF3P installed). But I still using that mod, so if i wont get that error, dont click main menu when in game world.. Disable Fallout3.exe in DEP can reduce the problem(still get error but not often), pausing antivirus protection can help too.. Using Sysinternal Process Explorer, threads that called by Fallout3.exe are wdmaudio.drv, dsound.dll, advapi32.dll, dinput8.dll, quartz.dll(unregistering this dll make the game has no music, but not voice). IMO, if that threads(dlls and drivers) working fine, another problem is on Fallout.exe itself when calling mods. -
I had same problem, because my internet connection was bad.. i try to refresh my browser, and after many time the "save dialog" will show up.

In my personnaly opinion that's impossible that you only had one virus after many years and your PC always connected to the internet. Probably your PC could be infected by virus that your antivirus can't identify it. you do clean install your OS(with formatting drive), then you still opening your file that infected, your PC can be infected again. I never use BitDefender, just be sure that your antivirus databases is up to date.. Or try with other antivirus. We know all virus creators want to make us confused and our PC acting odd. If your motherboard is more than 3 years, you do what suggested above, especially when your motherboard is not using Solid-capacitors. that's can be problem too. Why you arent try boot your PC from CD with Linux LiveCD or anything else like that if you wish to Backup your files(and dont want to reboot repeatedly),..this can also be used to analyze your problem.
