  1. I only did one storyline, and I got the trophy. But nothing special happened :(
  2. Zomg, I saw that Steam was having a sale, and instantly browsed for an RPG. After careful consideration, I decided on this one: http://store.steampowered.com/app/40300/ After that, I visited Direct2Drive and...Hey wait a minute... http://www.direct2drive.com/3/8561/product/Buy-Risen-Download The same game that is "on-Sale" at Steam is 22 bucks, yet the exact same game not on sale is 15 bucks on Direct2Drive.. I can Haz refund?
  3. SC2 isn't that bad, I got it to play on a $700 laptop with an Nvidia Geforce 9300M. Why would I need an HDD? Couldn't I just run Windows off of a flash drive or a memory card?
  4. Sonic CD was by far the best 16-bit Sonic game, the Pseudo-3D graphics, the music, IMHO it is the best 2-D platformer to have ever existed. My other favorites included Bouncers, Lunar, and Jurassic Park.
  5. I would recommend this one. I paid $1200 for it on sale at Best Buy because it is a discontinued model. I believe that $1200 is equal to or less than 1,000 Euros. My laptop runs Civilization V, and Fallout: New Vegas with no frame-skipping on medium-high settings. I would check out the Asus website for gaming laptops. Alienware is horrendously overpriced and aimed at people who don't know a PS/2 port from their own anus. Asus is by far the best brand of laptops I have ever seen, especially for the money(Basically Macintosh aesethics and functionality for the price of a Windows machine).
  6. There is this girl at church I like named Kim. She is an immigrant from Korea. I heard that in Korea girls are into guys who play Starcraft, and that some of the top starcraft players marry actresses and models. I am trying really hard to become good at Starcraft, although I almost always lose to my Korean friends. Kim has a pink netbook with a hello kitty sticker on it, but no machine that can play Starcraft. She also says that she has never had a boyfriend, and is a virgin. I really like her, and want to win her heart, which computer should I get to impress her?
  7. Hardcore mode isn't that bad except when it comes to limbs. Even then, it just means you have to save and load more often. I believe that they added more doctor's bags with the latest patch.
  8. That is not the issue I meant to debate. We all know that actors (*cough* Regan, Governator) can become politicians, but should politicians become actors? Likewise, should Men such as Christopher Nolan be allowed to use Hollywood as a diplmomacy device?
  9. There doesn't seem to be much of a debate going on here. My guess is the topic is whether or not piracy is an absolute evil. The author of the blog pointed out that some people wouldn't be able to play the game at all were it not for piracy, which is most likely true. Even after 20 years, the internet is still The Wild West legally speaking(I.E. The *not allowed* is located in Sweden, where piracy is legal. but allows Americans to download things for free.). Laws change slower than technology, but will on day catch up to the capabilities of the internet. To me, one could make an argument that The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki wasn't an absolute evil, or that the Native American Genocide wasn't an absolute evil. The Japanese got some benefits out of being bombed, and the Native Americans that weren't annhiliated got to be part of what would become the most powerful country in the world.
  10. Christopher Nolan made headlines today as he casts the North Korean Dictator, Kim Jong-Il as the lead role the third and final Batman Movie. Hillary Clinton has congratulated the Director in using his film to bring peace. However, many Christian Bale, who played Batman in the first two movies, accused Nolan of placing a curse upon Hollywood, and turning it into a propaganda machine for foreign dictators that threaten our country. There have also been talks of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad starring in the 4th installment of Spider-Man(not the reboot, but the one with Tobey McGuire in it). Is Hollywood bringing about a new era of peace by allowing Nuclear dictators to become actors, or have they sold themselves out and become little more than a propaganda machine? Kim Jong-Il to star in new Batman
  11. First of all, let's take a look at the minimum requirements: Now, this is what I am guessing is your machine is based on the fact that your processor appears to be a fairly new laptop processor. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-TechBargains&cm_mmc=AFC-TechBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16834200058 It appears that you have 3 times the recommended RAM, and twice the processor speed recommended. However, a $500 laptop will most likely have an integrated Intel Graphics card, which aren't really meant for any type of gaming. Can you get Oblivion to run? Yes, you can get it to run, but not very well. You will most likely need to set the graphic settings to minimum, and limit your game play to two hours a day in order to prevent overheating. Never mind, I have an ATI mobility Radeon HD 5870, and can play Fallout 3 and New Vegas on medium-high settings. Just be sure to keep an eye on your heating. I've melted several laptops simply by gaming.
  12. I bought Risen for twenty bucks. I was greatly disappointed. It's like they combined the worst aspects of Bioware and Bethesda into one game(rigid character development AND storyline). I've already played Fallout New Vegas, CIV5, and every fallout game in existence. Is there anything else I might enjoy, or should I simply stick to the big name games?
  13. I didn't know that they made graphic cards for more than $300, except for maybe high-powered applications, such as polygonal modeling.
  14. Whether or not FO3 is superior to NV is something that has already been debated to death in this forum. Long story short, NV is essentially an expansion to FO3, the gameplay is the same, but the storyline is different. utilizing many of the same game mechanics. If cannibals are what you are after, then yes, NV does have at least one group of cannibals.
  15. As previously mentioned in this topic, the Second Amendment was written when the gap between what the army had, and what a private citizen owned wasn't nearly as large. To keep the same balance of power with today's military, We'd have to allow private citizens to own stealth fighters, attack helicopters, tanks, rocket launchers, and portable nuclear devices. Considering that an average fighter jet costs about $90million, that means only about 1/100th of the richest 1% of American can afford these things even if they were legal. Thus, I believe that for most purposes, the gun control issue is moot. Secondly, Let us look at the 9/11 attacks, and compare them with Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor: 3,000+- lives lost, a couple battleships Japan had over 300 aircraft. 9/11: 25 Al Qaeda terrorists with boxcutters Just as many lives, and even more economic damage This brings me to another point, Even if every weapon more dangerous than a vegetable peeler were to be banned, what will keep someone from concocting some sort of weapon out of common household materials(E.G. drain cleaner, butcher knives, chainsaws).
  16. That is social policy, not socialism.
  17. I am too lazy to google the stats, but California's per capita income isn't that high. Keep in mind that California also the the hioghest population than any other state. I believe that the current global economic Crisis has hit California harder than most other states for two reasons: 1.) California has a lot of industries sensitive to the economic Climate(E.G. tourism, Computer hardware). 2.) California has had ridiculously high property values over the past 20 years. The housing crash is part of what has caused the current economic climate. Because California's financial problems can easily become National financial problems. We have Silicon Valley, Hollywood, Disneyland, Napa Valley, The California Missions, The Golden Gate bridge, Monterrey County(where John Steinbeck lived and wrote about), and a bunch of other things and places. Were it not for California, we wouldn't have computers, or really awesome movies. If America had not wrested California from Mexico, chances are Americans would be sneaking across the border, and struggling to learn Spanish.
  18. Let's not forget the advent of auto-mapping. I remember reading the back of the box of this one game(circa 1990), about how you wouldn't need graph paper to play it! Comparing the Wii to Some of the more complex 90s PC games is like comparing Uno to Chess. Uno is based mostly on luck, there isn't even any bluffing. Chess has ten times more depth than Uno, and one could spend years imrpving their skill. However, because Uno's simplicity, More people have played Uno than Chess. Likewise, the gaming market has changed since the nineties. More people opted for the Wii because not everyone is a hardcore gamer. The alternatives, PS3 and Xbox360, most likely intimidated consumers.
  19. Well, according to the FONV wiki, the new patch will be out in a week or two, I think I will wait until then to start a new character. I didn't realize that the Shiskebab was available in NV, I assumed that it was dropped from the game. I hope that I can make a shiskebab wielding ninja like I used to have. It seems as though there are tons more unarmed moves than melee. The strange thing is in my last/first NV playthrough, I oftentimes had to use unarmed(I found something called Pushy, a very powerful unarmed weapons) in order to overcome the DT of many enemies, as my small guns(I was a gunsmith who invested all of her skills into repair and guns), literally did not cut it.
  20. According to my political science teacher, Dictatorships have longer lifespans than democracies. Case in point, the Roman and Ottoman Empires lasted over a thousand years. On the other hand, The longest last democratic state was Athens, which only lasted 400 years. Also, wasn't Caesar marked as essential(meaning that you can only knock him out, not kill him?). There are several instances where I kill an NPC for one quest, then they automatically respawn for another quest.
  21. Hai Guyz, I have finished my first play through of NV, but realized that even after 50 hours of game play, that There is a ton that I've missed. I play in hardcore mode, and wanted to make a "monk" type character(someone who doesn't rely on heavy weapons or technology). I have created several characters already, but I keep growing bored for some reason, or wishing I built my character differently. Anyway, here are my questions: 1.) Which is more fun and/or useful, melee or unarmed? 2.) Is survival more useful than medicine? 3.) Are skills such as luck and charisma any useful, or are they dump stats like they were in FO3(Keep in mind I don't intend on doing much gambling). 4.) Which quests are more fun, Mr. House or NCR? Last time I followed Yes Man, and I liked how I pretty much blew off the other three factions, for a truly independent New Vegas.
  22. My biggest gripe with either game is the fact that neither you nor your enemies are able to utilize cover, this greatly takes away a critical dimension of gameplay. I am less inclined to play F03 now because of the lack of weapons, companions, and other things. However, I do miss FO3's homemade weapons, such as the shish-kabob, and stun darts. As for stoyline, I liked FO3's much better, as I felt that there was more of an emotional involvement than "I can haz revenge on guys who shot meh"? Does anyone else find it interesting that both storylines revolve around water? If anything, NV simply felt like an expansion of FO3, rather than a stand-alone game. All in all, if NV has changed my views on anything, it is the Southwest. I really want to visit the Southwest now. It's somewhat hard to compare the two. I suppose it really boils down to a matter of preference. For me, it is rather psychological. The subways and Skyscrapers made me feel claustrophobic, whereas rolling hills and open sky of the Southwest made me a bit more relaxed, even if they were a bit redundant. All in all, both seemed to use pretty much the same graphics. At the very least, sand and cacti are easier to navigate subway tunnels, but I have a crappy sense of direction to start with.
  23. Yes there is, but for some reason it didn't work for me. A restart seemed to have fixed the issue though(Having a laptop, I usually just close the lid, instead of actually shutting the thing down).
  24. Why do you own a laptop in the first place(instead of a desktop), most likely because it is portable. When you buy external hardware for your laptop, you are essentially defeating the purpose of it's potability. Chances are that in a couple years you'll need other upgrades as well, such as more ram, a new cpu. Moreover, A high-end cell phone(I.E. droid or Iphone 4G), or a netbook can perform most non-gaming tasks that a laptop can do(I.E. surf the internet, watch DVDs). So rather than having a laptop with a bunch of extra peripherals, have either a low-end laptop or an expsensive phone for work etc. and a big-ass desktop for gaming. In the long run(Say, in about 2-5 years), you'll actually save a lot more money.
