  1. The idea of a half-dwarf may still be up in the air, but I think that is more Bioware wondering just how far they can push the genetics boundary. That is a drekload of possibilities if you look at it on it's own. For instance if humans can mate with elves, and can mate with dwarves, then it would also go to theory that elves and dwarves could also mate and so on, it really is a frag lot of worms that could be dropped out of a can if they open it. (Had to add in even more shadowrun touches)
  2. Back on topic... I personally couldn't stand Wynne, Zevran, or Morrigan. Wynne is a busybody, getting her nose in your business all the time, I use the Beguiler mod to put her at max love and never talk to her. Zevran just gives me the creeps, and even after telling him I don't swing that way, he keeps trying... all the power to people who do swing that way, but leave me alone about it after I make my own view clear, I mean really, expect tolerance then don't give any?? Morrigan, I agree with Alistair, complete and utter B**ch, can't even keep her around even if you do like her. I tend to play melee characters, my favourites being a 2handed warrior or a duel weilding rogue, so I need both mages or a LOT of potions, which sucks cause both mages you get I can't stand (I am going to have to look into that party picker mod, need more mages, hopefully quiet ones).
  3. From what I have read, you are going to have to find some mods to fix that. Awakenings disabled some of the origins items because their meshes and textures would clash with what was put in the new game. It all comes down to having either the DLC items or the new content from what I have read.
  4. I can answer this one, woot! It is the spell wisp haste adding together endlessly, the simple fix is to go to the mage casting the spell, turn it off entirely and let them recast it. Also only allow one mage to have spell wisp going if you are going to have it serving double duty as a haste, since it is multiple castings of the spell stacking together that cause the super speed problem. Now to be fair, I have only had the problem myself since I added the 1.03patch, with the previous 1.02a it never happened.
  5. Wow, from what I have read, you have either really bad luck, or a hardware problem on your computer. Technically the modmanagers are not strictly required, but since they are in essence only mods themselves, if they are going to mess up something, then most other mods will mess up the same thing. For the technically minded out there to do with programming, I would suggest you put a quick summary of the system you are using (Processor, Ram, Video card and Operating system) and any other potential errors you have had during the same time frame.
  6. From everything I have read, either take your chances with playing Awakenings, or only patch up to 1.02a and be able to play origins properly.
  7. Another possibility is run the game once, then use DAOmodmanager, I hear great things about DAmodder but it seems less user friendly for some.
  8. it may be a visual error due to something conflicting within the program itself. A clean install MAY fix the problem, but it is a bit extreme. Backup your saved characters (if you want to, I have only finished the game once and started over 50 characters just for fun) and uninstall the game, run regedit and take out anything with dragon age in the title, I would also suggest using bioware as long as you do not have another bioware game installed as well. This is the best advice I have garnered from past experiences, but I provide no guarantees.
  9. 64 bit system, sorry been sleep deprived lately, it was only WAY afterwards that I thought to include anything at all about actual specifications. Processor is AMD Athlon II x2 2.7 GHz, 6 GB of ram, a 1 GB BFG video card, I will look into getting rid of some of the other programs in the backgrounds, since as of this morning the problem seems to have spread to Supreme Commander 2, both of which use roughly the same stats.
  10. I don't know if this is the case, but the very first time you get to camp, it is a separate instance of the party camp, instead of reloading, try heading back to lothering, then into the camp once more.
  11. I recently got a brand new system, put in and tested a new video card, and then put the game on. (Side note, I hate the control panel list for win7, but life goes on). All is well and good with everything until I reach the Deep roads area, and then during random fights, the game crashes my computer. I have no idea if it is a compatibility issue or not and was wondering if anyone has experienced and/or overcome something similar?
  12. I have been wondering for a bit since I saw how well Altorian put together the works of NewByPower adriangi Rebel o Conner Horrid and mutantspicy, if anyone who actually understands these mods would be willing to try one for all the various colouring and head morphs. I know it would take a bit of cajoling to the original authors, but the ones I use, Bidelle's, CC Extra Tints and Tones, More Hairstyles, Chargen Package and Pineappletree's Vibrant colours are awesome. Seperately for someone new to this whole modding scene, they can be somewhat of a pain when not downright confusing as to how to make work together. Just a thought, but another all in one package would make my day, when it comes to having the option to make my characters look good. Feel free if you're the author of one of the aforementioned packages to flame my idea if you really don't like it. Last Part, honest. Great work by the modders here, individually you are all working better with the tools that were given than the parent company that gave them to you, you have my wholehearted congratulations on a job well done.
  13. While it may not have the exact appearance you're describing, the mod Dragon Age Redesigned has several options for changing Wynne in it, and you may like at least one of them. According to the game lore, Wynne is actually quite old when you receive her as a party member, so looking like that doesn't seem out of place for me, that said, I did use the aforementioned mod to make her look a bit younger as I have played through with her a few times already.
  14. I liked the human noble origin. I have tried them all, almost, city elf male rogue, dalish female rogue, dwarf commoner female rogue, dwarf noble male rogue, human mage male and female, human noble male and female. The origin for me at least had the most options on how to deal with your beginning family. In the dwarf noble option you never get the option to turn both your brothers to hash, which given dwarf politics surprised me. In the city elf origin, you cannot even fight to stop the humans from taking the elves, I mean really I would have slaughtered the arls son then and there anyways, would have saved me a good long time and some mental scarring on my characters family. The mage origin, it's either really short by telling jowan to stuff it, or really long by helping him, no options at all to do anything I would had I been taken as a child and raised around people who obviously hated me, where is the option to burn the tower down before you leave, or at least start a nice templar corpse bonfire? The commoner dwarf gets railroaded horribly, I became champion of the provings, and yet I am not even allowed to swing once to prevent myself from jail time? Not my cup of tea thanks. The dalish elf origin was semi interesting at least, but being railroaded into the mirror despite telling moron to stay at the entrance on defensive and trying to sneak around it blew the whole thing for me. I am not a train, so adding tons of tracks and cutting out my exploration fun before I get to have it bugs me big time. The human noble origin let me get interesting things done, only one where you get a lot of choices with the least amount of railroading. My rogue is a person that chafes at restrictions, so I got to tell dear ole dad I wanted to do things my own way, my warrior is a staid and steady agreeable type, the dutiful son, he got to do just that and mourned the loss of his parents with the king afterwards... I could go on, it's one origin where you get a bit more breathing room to play what you want.
  15. I have to confess, I hit the dialogue options on the dragon age wikia to look for stuff between morrigan and sten, it had me laughing all over again. I don't think she is really serious about the whole thing, I really do think she is teasing to get a rise out of the quiet one, that is until he decides that enough is enough and uses an aptly twisted way to shut her down for good. P Control? Now I have heard of that over time, but only ever had one of my ex's try it. If you have been a victim of such nefarious plans, the fix is simple, smile, dump her while still smiling, and ask for her cute friends phone number. Beware that fix usually involves a confrontation of some sort, but being manipulated, or at least the attempts end at that point. As for how it relates to Morrigan, she concedes herself in one conversation with dog about "He is just being manipulative, trust me, I do the same thing." so yes she could be trying such a thing, but when coming towards someone who came up the the aforementioned fix for such manipulations as I did, it would severely backfire, and I am pretty sure that she wouldn't be taking the chance on something she deemed important. The best way to get a man to concede to a woman's desires, is to always give in to his (one of my ex's taught me that) and so would have been the better choice. Which leads to the jealousy part, she has two options for that mating, 1 if you play a female character, but that still means that if she were purely there for making you do the deed, then when she still has the option of Alistar, who lets admit is an easy dimwit who would probably jump at the chance to do someone finally, even a woman he considers a total B*****, also could be manipulated easier than your warden as well, depending on how you play him. Keep in mind, my favourite warden is a human male rogue that I named Raven (after my native ancestry's trickster god) that is infinitely practical, lose with women (why so no to them when yes is so much more fun?) and throws off any attempt to control him, I even had him telling his father such things as "Oh, don't strain my capabilities or anything." in his introduction to begin him off on the right foot so to speak. Now given that, the only way Morrigan would keep him in her power in the least, would to be to shut up, follow her word (he keeps his word, just rarely gives it) about everything being open, and bide her time. That isn't a possibility, so I shrugged my shoulders and moved him onto Lelianna pretty fast. As for her KS'ing you Darke, I have them do that to me all the time, I just shrug it off as a poor game mechanic where most of my party in full plate are faster than me in leather and clothing, and move onto the next unwilling participant of my game of Slaughter the Tard that Slows MY Progress, a fun game let me tell you, nothing is more satisfying than slashing your way merrily through groups of idiots that want to slow you down. As for the templars who are supposed to follow the mages, I didn't really notice that much at any point, I should probably read codex's more, but the only time I run into magic folk past lothering and the circle of magi, there is nary a templar to be found.
  16. I am not sure why that is, I made a whole set of templar armor in one of my alts and it worked fine for me. The item set can be added at the forge, but since the set for the templars was never put in the vanilla game, it may not even have a set bonus, not sure about that though. Still, you can use whatever set bonus you like, personally I am a fan of the Legion of Ehmat set bonus.
  17. For new weapons, I would love to see some polearms added, the Halberd is my personal favourite, a 2handed double bladed battle axe would rock as well, the current axes seem to be only 1 handers. I would like it if someone could figure out how to set 1 handed weapons on the belt, and a quiver that rides on your thigh (my cousin had one there when he was in archery competitions). I looked into modding, and I found I am horrible at it, mostly because I don't have the patience to learn from scratch, but I am a fairly good artist, so I could draw some things for people if they wanted me to. Just leave me a post or something and we can work something out. As for abilities on these weapons, I would leave that blank, just getting them into the game would mean that I could drop them into the winter forge to put my own abilities on... I think.
  18. Duncan is not a psycho, he is a homicidal sociopath, big difference. I get that he had to kill to keep a secret, but it's secrets like that which drive people away ultimately. No one wants to be a soldier unless they are already a homicidal sociopath on some level, most soldiers become such because they wish to protect the one's they love, and then the military proceeds to brainwash these normal people into becoming programmable killing machines. Sucks but such is life, conflict in inevitable. That being said, I actually would have chosen to be a grey warden myself in that situation, not because I enjoy splattering people's brains, but because if they blight isn't stopped, my family, friends and lovers would all be dead. The storyline is a bit one dimensional, but to make it truly three dimensional would require vast resources to make, and vast resources to run, so they did well with what they had instead. No you don't get all the choices you like, but you still get to call duncan a murdering freak, you just take a hit with Alistar for saying so aloud. Toss a couple cool gifts his way and it's not a bad hit and move on.
  19. From what I have seen so far, your whole party shares exp gains... I may be wrong, but with the 1.02a patch, everytime my party members kill something, I still get a share of exp.
  20. I am not sure if it's extactly what you're looking for, but Pretty In Pink replaces all the underoo's of your people, so far it isn't really compatable with such things as realistic bodies, but that may change in the future.
  21. There is a mod called Winter Forge that allows you to make the whole set, and more really. It takes some getting used to, but if you're looking for stuff already there just not implemented, then that mod will do it. As a plus it allows for enchanting of armor and weapons, changing colours and materials, setting them into item sets etc. All that and it still at it's core allows you to put the armor you want on when you want it, rather than wait around to get it later.
  22. I don't have links or pictures for it, but I would like to see some hoods that don't look like they are worn by coneheads and perhaps a cool looking simple band or crown/tiara, maybe add a mesh that checks for the body contours and then changes itself slightly to adapt to that. I know the last part is asking a lot though, but using realistic bodies, armor on and armor off looks way too different.
  23. Throw daggers, that is a skill I would love to have on my rogue/assassin/duelist, it makes sense for any rogue really since it is one of the staple moves of the archetype. Who needs a bow when you can carry along a bandoleer of daggers to throw. Take into account that most cities, even modern one's have twists and turns that make the long range of bows mostly useless, and the majority of enemies I encounter are either right beside me in seconds, or my mage is blowing them up from the long distance they stay at.
  24. That is probably somewhat intentional, and one of the reasons they let out the toolset I believe. Adding in too many options graphically can actually kill the lower end computers, and that would have meant dropping part of their market, but leaving the players the option to create their own meshes for weapons and armor meant that if you could support it, then you had access to make them look how you wanted. Personally I don't have the skill with the toolset and/or the patience to figure it out on my own, but there are players on dragon age nexus who have already created some nice texture and weapon mods. It takes some looking, but sift through the mods, find the beginning of what you would like, and ask the modder directly for specific things, they are usually quite happy to be given a new project to think about.
