  1. many thanks to both of you, and many thanks for pointing out the why and how. I appreciate it.
  2. Hi. I'm just going to ask this, and please don't flame me. I just don't enjoy spending time doing The SIMs-like / minecraft-like stuffs. I just, don't. What I wanted to ask, is that if there are already "pre-built houses with the necessities, lights, beds, bathrooms, kitchens, doors, toolboxes", for settlers, that can be just "summoned" (like you summon the walls, furnitures, etc in the fallout 4 build mode) I mean, I'm not good at it, and the impression I have after scouring the mods is that for a settlement to thrive (minus the defense, since defense you really need to build around it) a) houses b) workshops c) greenhouses if such mods with already the stuffs IN it already exist, please do kindly link me there (as i'm not aware that a fully furbished pre-built homes mod exists) Thanks.
  3. The way I look at it, it boils to greed, not because of lack of education. There already are cases where mods are stolen and the thieves demand donation "for bringing it over", for which when hell breaks loose, they use the "i'm only trying to help the community because we can't see the pc master race bla bla bla". You just have to check out sections of the internet, and i'm sure you can see it. However, I agree with Dark0ne's perception that why, all of a sudden Bethesda make an appearance and sink its claws / fangs / teeth into the modding community? All because of this, there's a generated heaps of distrust and antipathy; the siege mindset of 'they're there to get us' (irregardless if you're a console player or a pc player), and somebody / entity *cough*Beth*cough profiteering in the middle (which in any case, the community of modders will still lose). I feel that there should be a better give and take approach to things, but most importantly greed should be treated as a plague. Its these little problems that piling up creating the 'stand off'-ish situation. It won't be long before there are going to be modders who will make mods and with all intents and purposes insert codes from SKSE (or make it reliant on SKSE) which will serve as a detterant / revenge tool / troll move just in their assumption of "i want to protect these mods from getting stolen", which won't be fair to both communities.

Sorry, I don't think you'll be forgiven that easily. Nor forgotten easily too. I don't hold much against you, but you did sell yourself for a few quick bucks. At least that's how you've played your cards, all well documented in your own outpourings. You had a choice, and you made the choice, no matter how "ill-informed" it "seemed" to be, "experiment" or not. That said, the only true judge is after the passing of time. Time reveals many things, just a matter of time. By then, I do hope irregardless of how healthy or sick the modding community is (i hope for the better), people will judge what you've done with a clear head. Yet, remember, its easy to forgive, but never easy to forget.
  5. In response to post #24629149. #24629884 is also a reply to the same post. Too bad I can't even go into isoku's page in Steam and promote this. either he has banned everyone who spoke negatively about his mod (despite whether its true or not), or something else happened. But either way, if its free and its better, its WORTH telling others.
  6. In response to post #24628009. #24628194 is also a reply to the same post. I second this. No FREEMIUM mods please.
  7. You know, I just want to share this with the modders who are going to put their mods up for "sale". Remember, when you sell something, you become a trader of sorts. What you cannot guarantee is "buy my product because its a work in progress". Because there are things such as customer's rights. If you sell something that's broken, expect a storm of poo going your way. If you sell something that's not broken, expect NO POSITIVE advertisements coming your way. Because people buy products to use them, not to advertise them on your behalf. If you sell something that's good, people MAY or MAY NOT talk about it. You're not entitled to being "advertised" just because you think you are. But let's also get one thing very clear, especially those selling on SteamWorks and pulling their works on NexusMod: I think you're digging your own proverbial grave, in economic sense. You sell a product for say, USD 10 *cough*, you get at most USD2.5. I heard its a lot in the USA, enough to buy a full meal? Not sure, but here's what. That 2.5USD, you'll still need to fund for a PR or a HR personnel, because there's such a thing called as "customer service", and "post-sale service". Yeap. Unless I'm wrong, when you sell something, even in a 'curated bazaar' like Steam, its YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to provide customer service and post-sales service. Let's see, you'll probably be swamped with "waaaa this is broken", or "waaa why this doesnt' look as good as in the picture? OMG you liar, you used some sort of magic / trickery waa waa waa". You'll spend your time trying to calm the customers down. All with that meagre USD2.5 Meanwhile Steam and Bethesda earns USD7.5 without even as much batting and eyelid. You make a product, but they parasitically earn from you, and yet you have to deal with the poo pile, you have to eat the dog food. Yourself. NOT WITH VALVE, NOT WITH BETHESDA. Are you really sure you're getting compensated? I don't think so. Is this move an economically sensible move? I think its a GREAT move for VALVE and BETHESDA, but on your expense as a modder. Then you'll get burnt out, and you'll blame the "community" for not understanding you. The problem is, the community does NOT have to understand you. Because you sold a product, and if I'm a customer, I don't care for your wellbeing. I only want the products I paid for comes in with ZERO PROBLEM, and WORKS RIGHT OFF THE BAT, no BETAs, no ALPHAs, nothing of the sort of "i'm going to beta test for you". Just don't cry foul at the community that you tried to make money off.

  9. may I ask, can somebody make a mod for bards to sing this:?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=30&v=bL7ZaCsT39A and then put it for sale in STEAM.
  10. In response to post #24588744. I think there's a difference. Theirs is called paid DLC, ours is called "modding".
  11. In response to post #24588634. #24588679, #24588759 are all replies on the same post. hence, alas. if only SKSE took a firmer stance.
  12. In response to post #24588634. If only SKSE, BOSS, LOOT, MO, NMM, FNIS, and all the other "instrumental" mod resources would do the same as you are. Alas, alas, alas..
  13. In response to post #24588269. #24588304, #24588364, #24588424, #24588514, #24588519 are all replies on the same post. @boulegue: if he doesn't have a free time, he has to make his own free time. He's not "ENTITLED" to think "let me sacrifice my time here because I know I'll be compensated in monetary terms". This is a mindset that should not even exist.
  14. In response to post #24587989. I think there's a ceiling to this, resource wise. I mean let's just for example, look at it this way. If a game requires modders to be paid, I think it would be paid ONLY how much the ceiling item costs. E.G, if I re-texture a sword, and I sell it for say, USD 10, and 50,000 fools come and purchase it, therefore the re-texture would have USD50,000 value. But in reality would a retexture of a cost have that much of a value? I doubt it. But to be fair, such a job to re-texture a job would have probably costed USD20-50 (taking a camera, renting a computer, downloading GIMP, bla bla bla, some coffee while making, the electricity charges, bla bla bla, worksmanship, bla bla bla). But there's NO WAY to know, unless sites like Nexus starts to implement a counter and say "hey this mod is priced at USD 50, its now at USD 0.99/USD50. THEN I believe people will more MORE INCLINED to donate, especially by supporters. If somebody did a job like for Vilja entirely, (though i'm not a fan of it), and people thinks that the DLC is worth USD 50 (which is again, intellectually questionable) per download, people will pay if there's a METER right at that. Because in the end, download does not equals utilization. I downloaded Vilja, played with it, and uninstalled it after 4-5 hours of in quest with her. Then when it comes to say, sets like the Amidian, i'm sure the community as a whole is willing to fork out proportionately more.
  15. In response to post #24588269. #24588304, #24588364 are all replies on the same post. well, let's just say, okay, its pirated. now you've found a place. But how about other modders? it won't stop them from having the mindset "hey let me milk the money out of these suckers". There has to be a better way that both sides win, but in these cases we users are at the ransom of these mods.. heck, you know what? LET'S CALL THEM RANSOMMODS! :D we'll buy NO RANSONMODS!
  16. In response to post #24587774. I have to agree, seeing the amount of hype, then the update brought... but you have to pay. The price is ridiculously expensive too. In my country's currency that's enough to buy a full dinner meal.
  17. In response to post #24588269. how would piracy even happen? let's take for example "purity", or god forbid those "sange and Yasha" or "butterfly" items that were inspired from DoTA. You pay for it, then have your money refunded, managed to get the items pirated, but sites like Nexus won't host it because of the rules set in the first place (no stealing) So where?

  20. 1. When modders "sell" mods, we users becomes customers. We expect things to run PERFECT on day 1. What are the customers' rights? I don't know, especially as I'm not from the USA. 2. If a modder sells bad mods, expect 50% of their revenue to be wasted on PR and HR where they'll have to hire people to explain why their mods are broken, etc. 3. Selling mods is a bane to the industry as a whole. Look at Ubifail and their AC series, you'll see that the pattern is replicated with the Steam-Bethesda model. Except, the users and modders do all the hard work, and they earn the lion's share shaking their legs. 4. In the case of SKYRIM, SKSE, Mod Organizer, BOSS, LOOT, and slider base mods should license themselves and say "we don't allow those who sell mods to USE our products". THIS IS A MUST. Not sure about other games though. 5. No guarantee in quality despite paid.
