  1. Hi, Im testing out a mod set-up right now, its what I do before actually playing the set-up, meaning just installing all the mods to make sure they play nicely + to check them out. I wanted to uninstall a single sword mod which I didn't really want, everything else is fine. If I uninstalled it, then started a new game (using LAL so no helgen) would that be a-okay to actually play as a stable save i.e. does starting a new game remove the dangers of uninstalling a mod during a playthrough, as im aware that this definetley cause issues Thanks EDIT: Sorry, to clarify its actually a weapon pack thats added to the leveled list, so NPC's use them etc.
  2. Ah, thanks, Just needed some re-assurance :D
  3. Hi, I recentley started a new game with all of my previously installed mods (installed post helgen). I really dont have many outside new weapons, armours, locations etc. I have Live another life, so i could configure MCM stuff before going through with the helgen thing (decided to go back to it after not seeing it for months). Basically it went fine until entering the keep, when only then the SoS menus immediatley popped up, even though I just went through about 40 minutes of gameplay. I'm concerned this may be an indication that my save game is corrupt, somehow. Should I be concerned about this? Is it a problem or am I just being paranoid? Thanks, and sorry for the stupid question.
  4. Its not that the steam workshop is bad or anything, I just prefer the nexus for textures!
  5. So this may be a dumb question...but will I ever get in trouble for using the skyrim nexus? I mean, valave have never actually acknowledged the nexus at all. Will my account ever get banned for using nexus mods? Thanks EDIT: Sorry for bad wording, its not that I dont like the workshop, or that I think its bad, I just prefer the nexus for its larger mods and textures!
  6. Just wondering what these two files are as they appeared in the NMM installation menu. Is it recommended to move them to anopther file location as I'd I'd like to keep all my modding stuff in one place. Thanks
  7. Browsing my documents, I found a Nexus Mod Manager folder in my documents, opening it revealed a .txt file called 'Tracelog(bunch of numbers).txt'. I was suspicious, as my paranoia made it look like some kind of keylogger log or something. opening it revealed a bunch of text, most of it was just 'Checking (game).dll'. I cant copy/paste contents as I deleted it, presuming it was unimportant. So, is this normal? What is it?
  8. It appears that the vividian enb, after installation, has disabled my vsync. My fps, at first, went above 60fps indoors, but of course whilst outdoors it stayed at around 55-60 (its a performance enb). Also, persistent screen tearing occured which apparentley is a telltale sign of no vsync. In my driver settings, vsync is still set to default whcih means it gets overided by games. So I geuss this enb overided the game settings then? Not too sure where to go to revert it back to default in the game settings, though it might also be enblocal.ini... Any ideas? Thanks
  9. (noob asking the question here) So I was testing some enb's, and got to the Vividian enb. Everyone says that all enbs will choke your fps but...this one did something differant. I got in game, just outside whiterun...70 fps!!!. With ENB ON. Now thats great and all, but even when its 100% vanilla my game never goes beyond 60-61 fps. So this actually made me suspicious, WAAAY too good to be true. Specs: cpu - i5-4690k gpu - gtx 970 ram - 8GB So my question is, have I damaged my game/GPU? Is skyrim supposed to EVER go beyond 60fps? Is that even possible? And on the enb, it was only 70fps in 'empty' areas, ofc when I went into towns and cities it dropped down to like 40-50fps. Not a bad enb either, bit TOO colourful for my taste. Thanks EDIT: Just found VSYNC was OFF EDIT EDIT: Ok, for some reason this enb turned vsync off when, by default, its on, in the skyrim game. I guess the enblocal.ini file overided the skyrim prefs file maybe?. As a result, the fps seemed to just go up to <60 to >60 very frequentley. It also resulted in the telltale screen tearing, often associated with disabling vsync.
  10. A noob question following gophers tutorial on installing SKSE, I accidentally added the skyrim data folder to the SKSE.zip archive, as I had the skyrim folder and SKSE folder open in same window. All I did was accidentally use the 'Add to Archive' tool on the skyrim data folder. I feel really dumb for asking but, has any damage been done? Or has this had no effect on my game? Thanks
  11. Essentially, I'm looking for any graphics mod, WHILST getting 60fps EVERYWHERE. I can handle this just fine with simple textures and such (not sure about flora mods but I'll have to try). I'm a little nervous to run an enb as they're all VERY intensive. Then I found ICBINE 3, which supposedley has NO fps drop. The description says it primarily uses sweetfx, but what is sweetfx exactly? I am quite conscience of what I put in to my game. Is it just a downgraded version of enbseries or something? Also, does it support parallax? Wanted to use tamriel reloaded HD with it Thanks P.s. I have a GTX 970 4GB with an i5-4690k and 8GB RAM
  12. For me, project ENB is the last 'BIG' ENB I'm willing to try before going strictly performance ENB. Just wanted to know what kind of performance hit im looking at with the absolute basic performance version, in a game with some 2K texture packs and some parallaxing. My rig is a gtx 970, i5 4690k and 8GB RAM. Can run the game 60fps fine with texture mods without enb. Thanks.
  13. So, this is probabley me just being super paranoid... I want to use an enb, specifically the gameplay performance enb. Not only is it performance friendly, but i like the cold effect it puts on skyrim, but this raises two question 1) The enb in question recquires enbhelper.dll. I know what it is, it allows weather tracking stuff for the enb. But I've only seen it been used in few mods, so is it safe? I 'm very careful on what i install into my game that isnt straight from the nexus. the file is from another website, so im a tad skeptical 2) enbhost.exe, noticed this when i first downloaded the enbseries files. I find any .exe's like this suspicious, as im super paranoid about viruses, malware, keyloggers etc. I'm fully aware that millions of people use this (as evidanced from the realvision enb which requires v.0292) So yeah, probabley just me being overly cautious. Any help? Thanks.
  14. Just curious as gameplay performance enb needs it in its latest update. Thanks
  15. Been playing around with enbs, finally settled on gameplay performance enb as it really makes skyrim look bright yet cold, realistic IMO. BUT, for some reason the DoF is...odd. It randomly activates, then immediatley disappears especially in combat, I had to turn it off as it was quite distracting. Then I discovered this mod, which seems a lot more customisable than the DoF with enb. But are the two compatible at all? Thanks.
  16. Looks ok...but I found this instead.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53100/? Makes skyrim look VERY cold. lovin it. But thanks anyways
  17. Just wondering what the fps hit is like for this enb, it looks pretty cool and it matches tamriel reloaded HD which I LOVE. I have an i5 4690k and gtx 970, what kind of fps drop am i expecting?
  18. So I was busy modding the game, when I got stuck at Verdant (FPS dropped from 60 to 14!!!). Having uninstalled it, the game just gave up, starting again with live another life only gave me a blue screen with a pair of floating eyes! I'm currentley reinstalling the game, and have deleted all my mods but is that enough? Is my game peermanentley broke? Do i need to reinstall windows 8.1? Thanks
  19. I dont even know what skyrim startup memory editor is -_-. Thanks anyway though
  20. For referance I never got as far as actually installing an enb, I never actually INTENDED to use an enb, just needed these files for tamriel reloaded HD. So anyway, I move d3d9.dll and enghost to skyrim main directory, nothing odd there. Launch the game, all seems fine. Get to menu, ENB text thingy appears. Hit play, and BOOM CTD. Im certain that its these enb files that are causing it. Now i've come across a couple possible solutions. One is to try the injector version, but that looks WAAAY too complex for me. Second is to install directx runtime, which does...something to help. Third, make sure that programs like MSI afterburner AREN'T running at the time as they interfere somehow. Can i get any confirmation that any of these solutions work, as this has really caused the 'modding train' to grind to a painful halt.
  21. Clearly, I'm a bit late here but.... I just wanted to say that I'm having similar issues. I'd get to the menu, the enb text thingy would display as usual. Hit play and BAM, Crash to Desktop. Rinse and repeat, reinstalling does nothing. Can i confirm with you guys that installing this directx thing worked? What is it exactly? Im not TOO sure if afterburner was running at the time... I'm not neccessarily planning on using an enb, but i need the enb files to run tamriel reloaded HD and its super awesome parallax textures. Thanks
  22. Im in the process of planning my skyrim mod game set if you like, and i came across this mod. It looks AMAZING from what I've seen, and coupled with some textures and maybe even an enb it will look spectacular (hoperfully). I just had some questions for anyone who has experiance with this mod. Whats the performance hit like for the 2K version? And in my general install order, where should it be? Before or after Skyrim HD and the other 'main' texture packs such as amidianborn book of silence? Thanks
  23. As you may be able to tell, im new to all this I REALLY want to start modding skyrim, some of the stuff ive seen looks gorgeous! BUT, one question; can mods break your computer? Say for instance, I ran the tamriel reloaded ENB, is there a chance that it would physically break my GPU and prevent me from using it? Thanks.
  24. So this may be a dumb question, I'm still kinda new to modding. After realising that, with all the enhanced textures, I've gotten bored with how skyrim looks; which calls for an enb to spice things up. But heres my question; can an enb literally brake your GPU? I spent a lot of money on it and I dont want to go and break it. I now that most if not all enbs cause an FPS loss but do any actually break your system? Thanks P.S. Im planning on using the Tamriel Reloaded ENB, MAYBE with the recommended textures
  25. I am still kinda new to this whole modding thing. I compiled my mod list, installed my mod list, started a new game and its working perfectly fine. Now I realised I missed a pretty crucial mod, realistic ragdolls and force. Is it to late to install it into my current game? What process should I go through before installing this mod, or any new mods for that matter as I'm sure that I will find other mods to add over time.
