  2. Hello to any of you who may remember the old 1987 Amiga RPG "Dungeon Master". It is my favorite RPG of all time. OK...I will preface this by saying I have NEVER played an Elder Scrolls game before. In fact the only game from Bethesda I have played is Fallout 3. Furthermore, this is the first RPG from a Western developer I have played since....well, Dungeon Master. Now, call me bias or call me having a bad case of placebo, but I'll be DAMNED if Skyrim doesn't make me feel like I'm playing what a "Next-Gen" Dungeon Master game would be! It's really REALLY giving me DM vibes, and I'm absolutely LOVING IT!!! Sure there are aspects of Skyrim that are totally different to DM...open world, much better graphics, etc, but there are certain elements of Skyrim that share similarities, PARTICULARLY in the dungeon exploration department. The dungeon exploration, to me at least, screams DM! It's the kind of tight corridor navigating that I've always wanted in a next gen game. The graphics in some of the dungeons in skyrim have that grey-ish tone, with torches on the walls and old bones laying on the ground....but only with up to date graphics, and it's awesome. The enemies too are similar...I've been attacked by skeletons equipped with sword and shield, skorpions(yes, SKORPIONS!) mages in robes, and lots of other similar enemies. Only thing I haven't seen yet is a mummy...but I wouldn't be surprised if there in here too lol. Everytime I fire up Skyrim I get chills down my spine. I feel like I'm back in 1988. Bethesda has blessed us DM fans with a game that they somehow knew we'd love. I can't help but think many members of Bethesda are DM fans, and got quite a few of their ideas from the Godfather of first person corridor RPGs. DM is the one that started it all, and its influence on next gen RPG developers is apparent. This to me...feels like DM III. A game that I think would be almost exactly like what FTL would have done, had they made an updated Dungeon Master in 2011. What do you think of this? Am I crazy or is there some validity to my assumptions?
  3. I have to apologize....I made a mistake and said that I was focusing on being a Two-Handed Warrior, when in fact I mean a ONE-handed warrior. I get them confused....a one-handed warrior attacks with a weapon in EACH hand....correct? If so, then this is what I want/meant.
  4. I am a level 13 Redguard, and I'm starting to struggle with what I should and shouldn't carry. My weight limit is now at 320 points. Not sure if that is impressive or unimpressive relative to my skill level, but regardless I am feeling the pinch. Organization has never been one of my strong points, and this weight limit is something that's becoming a burden. BUT....with all that having been said, a large part of me still wants to keep the gameplay of Skyrim "pure". I would prefer not to access the console and "cheat" my carryweight but damn, it sure is tempting. So....what are your thoughts on this? How many of you have increased your weight via console command? If so... A)Was it an easy or tough decision? B)What did you increase it by? C)Do you or don't you regret it? This is pretty much the only "cheat" I am considering....at least for now. Should I soldier on? Or am I simply making this out to be a much bigger deal than it really is, and it's something that everyone on the PC version does?

Well I'm toggling between adept and expert, so we'll see what happens. Is Block really all that cracked up to be?

  9. I am a Redguard level 11. I would like to know the best course of action, or "path" if you will on which skills and perks to choose to build this Race? I am trying to focus on two-haned warrior. But would also like to be able to use some good healing spells. So which skill-set should I lean more heavily on?
  10. Hi guys, What is the most effective way to combat a dragon? I am a level 11 Redguard, and my goodness do I ever struggle with those crazy things! The problem is, my character class isn't specialized in long ranged projectile weapons or offensive spells, and I'm more effective with swords, maces etc. But the damn Dragon hard ever lands and stays put long enough to get in close and get some good hits. So what should I do to put these creatures out of their misery? Or is magic pretty much the only good way to slay them?
  11. Since writing that last post, I've fired Fawkes LOL. He was taking all me XP and he's just, well, overkill! I've realized I can handle things on my own for most part so I'm solo-ing it from now on :)
  12. This looks pretty cool. I didn't know Bethesda was no longer working on the Fallout games and that Obsidian were the new crew in town. Very interesting. So, is this supposed to be classified as an expansion ala Broken Steel, or a brand new game? Speaking of expansions, as someone who hasn't yet played any of the 5 DLCs for F3, which is biggest one in terms of content?

K guys, to give you an update on where I am (MEGA Spoilers obviously) I have escaped Vault 87, re-accompanied myself with Fawks, cleaned up my inventory a bit and now I'm heading back to the Citidel. Got a question for you guys... Who is the strongest character that can accompany you in the game? Is it Steel Paladin Cross or Fawks? I had Cross and she was umm, kinda strong, but Fawx is a REAL a$$ kicker LOL! :P By the way you guys weren't kidding! I have already maxxed out my level cap and I've had no problems maintaining a very good Karma rating. Thank god for the Level Cap remover mod :D
  14. Hello evilneko and thanks for the reply. I have read that thread and have downloaded Auto HotKey. In that other thread, you wrote the following: I understand for the most part what you've said, and how your example above would allow me to remap the functions and shortcuts in fallout 3. However, I don't see how that helps my problem. What I want to do, is use the global hotheys I have in foobar 2000 to override all the shortcut keys in Fallout 3. Fallout 3 simply disables my Foobar 2000 shortcut keys, and I'm trying to prevent it from doing that. As an example, I have mapped the following shortcut keys in foobar to pause my song.... Ctrl+Alt+P. Pressing these keys pauses my song when opening up other windows and even my browser. But when launching Fallout 3, it no longer does so. So can you tell me what I have to do in Auto Hotkey to prevent Fallout 3 from doing this? Thanks in advance :)
  15. Hi. Is it possible to prevent Fallout 3 from overriding hotkeys I have from other applications such as Winamp and other media players? I have seevral shortcut keys assigned to both Foobar and Winamp, but as soon as I load fallout the keys are no longer active. Is there a way to stop the game from doing? Or perhaps any third party apps or mods?
  16. Thanks, but actually I've already achieved this by using F00bar 2000. F00bar allows you to convert mp3 files using any DSP Effect plugin you want. So I converted a bunch of songs using the Freeverb dsp and they turned out great :)

Did any of you experience them at these particular locations?

  21. Guys, what are the best graphical settings to achieve a ROCK SOLID 60fps in this game? Here are my specs: Windows XP 32bit Intel Core2Duo E8500 OC'ed to 4.0Ghz ATI Radeon 4870(just one. no crossfire) 3.2GB DDR2 Ram 1.2TB HDD I had everything turned up to max and it was running smooth in the vault 101, until I got out into the wasteland and I notice the framerate started to dip between 40&50fps. So I turned AA, AF and Shadows completely off, and uninstalled the High Res Texture and Rocks pack. Turns out it didn't help too, much, as I'm still getting below 60fps out in the wasteland, and it especially gets choppy when engaging enemies in the Wasteland. Is this normal for a machine with my specs? Are any of you getting a 100% ROCK SOLID and No flinching 60fps in the Wasteland portion of Fallout 3? If so, what are your specs and what graphic settings are you using? Also, does Fallout 3 support Crossfire dual ATI Cards?
  22. So far so good with the mods guys. I've gotten out of the Vault and I'm now in Megaton talking to Moriarty. The High res Terrain, road, and rocks pack is pretty cool. @ Heyy Adrian.... .....I've downloaded all five of your sound mods(BSFM-MAIN, BSFM-Heavybreathing, Etc) but I don't know what to do with these folders. These folders are all seperate but where exactly do I place them? Do I simply place them in the Data folder(i.e. copy and paste BSFM_-_Heavybreathing-10863 directly into the data folder)? Or do I have to merge them and then place them into the data\sound folder? I'm confused. Another thing....I will be using the "GNR -- More Where That Came From" music mod. Will your sound mod conflict with his mod in any way? Because I notice they both go into the "sound" folder so I'm just wondering. Last but not least Heyy Adrian, I didn't notice an esp file in your mod...is there supposed to be one or no? Please let me know.
