  1. Hmm, well... buying a new rig for just 1 game is something strange, isn't it?

(For 2 games... maybe :P hehe just kidding)

However, my last upgrade was about 2 months ago and I'm satisfied with the current set.

So, I won't buy new stuff (a new cpu 4example) - not even 4 the really nice TES-series.

    - And no, a SSD is no option in the near future. (long-term stability&price per GB)

WEI //cpu OC for testing purposes

    Heaven 2.5 //catalyst 11.1 or 11.2 / quality

@Carah - I doubt that you will need more than 4GB for a decent Skyrim-experience.

In case if I'm wrong, then read this after 11.11.2011

    Sorry - my bad ;)

    @Sketchy77 Shame on you ;)

  2. A decent psu is an important investment.

Brands are as Illiad86 said a possibility to get a good psu, but it shouldn't be the only criterion.

Even companies like Samsung, Asus, LG, Sony have crappy stuff in their assortment from time to time.

And it's of course the same with psu-manufacturer.

I'm using this here cause of good reviews although it's not well known - even here in Germany (their low-cost-section is not really good lol).

Regarding DDR3-1600&Phenom. You can have phenome... well.. nice ;) results with that combination.

HAF 932 is a nice case, well the only point of criticism is that cheesy card-holder-thing.

BUT - it's quite ok, even if you have a large gpu or much stuff installed.

At the bottom is my previous gpu as size comparison - good old HD5770 :).

  3. I'll check it out.

Have the same cards but not full flashed to 6970, just shaders unlocked.

Result: It works. I can't see any problems regarding AntiAliasing.

I removed the second card, just to be sure. Same result.

You may try the driver from the card-package or hmm I have to think about it.

  4. If you're using windows7 then just click the "Start"-button and type the word "msconfig" in the search-field-thing (I don't know the right word for it (search field area? ;)).

Start the msconfig-program by pressing enter/return.

Click the button with the name "system start" or something like that.

Then you can select the apps you want to disable or not.

Just check or uncheck them on the left side.

The button next to "system start", on the left is also helpful to deactivate unnecessary processes, but it's too difficult for me to explain it in English.

And it's too risky to try it, cause it contains important stuff for the proper function of the os itself.

So it's better not to change these settings if you don't know what you're doing exactly.

Windows xp has something similar if I remember right.

  5. Enter your bios and set your new card as primary graphics device (or something like that).

Disable the internal/onboard graphics-card and don't forget: The only cable should be the one from your new gpu to your display.

    Save the settings&reboot.

  6. I remember seeing once a mod that added custom bars for hunger, sleep, etc. but unfortunately I cannot find it anymore. Anyone got a link?

    Try this: http://tesnexus.com/...le.php?id=27649

    Regards

No that wasnt it i don't think :(

I know it's on here somewhere but I just can't remember the name of it, like the bars it added were all sorts of different colors and it could be used with different UI mods :(

You mentioned the things which are on the sample picture of the mod.

I'm sorry if the different colour-bars differ from your expected c_bars :P.

Alternative ==> This nice mod from - surprise surprise - theNiceOne ;)

  7. 1. »Guard Armour« ==> Sarkophag (, I don't know the english word, should be similar - look at the picture.)

  8. No problem :).

But you shouldn't ask your father if you're unsure about his reaction.

The intention was to give advices to improve your system - not to cause possible conflicts between you and your parents.

  9. Depends.

For just taking screenshots it's not really needed to have smooth FPS for example.

Anyways, I would replace the 5850 with the new 6950 or 6970.

6950 is compareable with 5870 (sometimes better)but with (currently)lower prize.

I have no experience with i5 cores (seem to be ok), so I would choose i7 950 IF I had to choose Intel.

    Disadvantage: New, expensive Mainboard needed.

However - Oblivion is not really known as multicore-game ;).

  10. If you want to archive your data then I would suggest a standard hdd.

SSD is currently too expensive. It's only useful as (os-)boot-drive, cause of the high transfer rates (read/write) and the short access time (in general 0,1 ms <> hdd ~8ms).

    The disadvantages are:

    1. the thing with long-term stability (if you write and delete things too often on your ssd - I wouldn't trust the manufacturer's data hehe)

    2. as said very expensive (cost per GB)

  11. In general it's possible, but you have to set the bios-RAM-settings to the slowest - in your case (both pairs) to 667.

You can try to set them to 800 but that means overclocking (with the possibility of instability or worse. I wouldn't recommend.

I also recommend a psu 550w+x if you plan to buy a new gpu (600w or 700w would be optimal).

As Qwaxalot said - ati 5770 is ok and nvidea 460gtx too, but again; buy a better psu if you use these cards.

  12. I really don't know the reason 4 your posting and your inaccurate interpretation of my comments.

I just told Illiad86 my point of view regarding modifications/char-creation (mentioned as "options") and the support by Oblivion,

    DA or ME by default.

Neither about story nor about char-modifications by other people.

    I don't care.

The topic was my personal point of view regarding char-creation/editing and the fact is:

90 sliders to control the appearance of a char in Oblivion (switches not included)

    47 sliders/switches in DA

    36 sliders/switches in ME

I said Oblivion is the best/has more options.

If you can't see any difference between Oblivion and other games - that's not my problem.

I don't have time and interest to continue a senseless discussion in a foreign language, so this is my last statement.
