  1. It just takes some time to know what you are doing. Like pure graphical mods (textures) are usually OK to install without any hitches. Script heavy mods? Thread carefully and see if it utilizes SKSE and so on. Read the comments, read the manual and stop and take a pause if you are just guessing at things. If you stick to those rules you should be OK. The problem is that in order to learn this you need to mess up a couple of times. What I do 0) Have vanilla skyrim 1) Save right after the start when you are in the village 2) Slowly add mods, start with basic textures and models. 3) Check if everything ok, play for half an hour, e.g. go to Whiterun. 4) Save your mod profile every now and then. 5) Add the difficult mods that tweak and change things and are script heavy. 6) If you mess up, you always have your vanilla save and probably the profile that worked for you. With steam verify local cache. Thats what works for me.
  2. So I am having some idea's for a home mod. I made a few homes in previous playthroughs but lost the files. So I want to take a new stab at it. Any location that might be great for a medium sized home? Some places you thought that could be amazing for a house?
  3. Real roads gave me problems in the past. Civil War is definitely heavy on the system. I think the author recommendeds to only use it only on a new game. For a new game I use a save game from here that starts at level 1 Riverwood (to skip the Helgen scene) Another way to sort things is to identify which mods are 1) Memory heavy (textures & models) 2) Script heavy (civil war, convenient horses, some combat mods and so on) 3) Followers, replacers or simple list, perk changers etc. Group 3 hardly causes problems overall. Group 2 makes things stutter, hard to load, or gives a conflict (CTD). Group 1 is as mentioned almost always a VRAM issue where either the memory is bugging out or it cannot load textures & models fast enough. You can then disable the mods in groups and see what is happening.
  4. Been there! First time : Oooohhh you can mod this game. *Downloads everything from Nexus* and ofcourse it was a complete failure CTDs, savegame problems. So well done and congrats on your perfect load order. Talos be praised! I think in principle mods made after 2015 are loads safer than the early ones. But thats certainly no hard rule.
  5. Its hard to see, do you mean something like this? (from Valkyrie armor by ZeroFrost) http://orig00.deviantart.net/aca9/f/2015/254/4/2/valkyrie_armor_helmet_for_skyrim__wip__by_zerofrust-d99865h.jpg
  6. Great idea! That's actually something that's been missing from my own current playthrough. Looks like I have something do in my free time now. Yeah it's fun! Good luck! For Jewelry you can't beat Immersive Jewelry btw I love finding new trinkets everywhere. I just found a superrare item (not going to spoil here)
  7. Yeah, spice things up. I use Enemies Enhancer and SkyTweak mostly and some combat / AI mods. Allows you to tweak it to your playstyle. With Enemies Enhancer you can specify what dmg they are going to deal. Also research mods that add to the atmosphere of your character. Eleonora has a house for every type of character for instance. Clothing, jewelry, armor, all adds to the perfect game.
  8. What kind of ENB do you want? Realism, gloomy, fantasy or lots of colour?
  9. Ok, just an idea way out of my CK league : How about friends you made during your quests come and visit you when at your home. So pseudocode : if (PC@Home) { selectfrom(friendsofPCarray) } { npcvisithome(); } It might need some audio splicing. Maybe they will come to you for a radiant quest, or just to say Hi and inform you of how the city/hold is doing and so on. Increases Immersion and the idea that NPC have a life of their own apart from their Cell of origin!
  10. Nah, you can use the the managers, makes live a lot easier. Maybe use MO. Just know that some mods wont like eachother. For instance, convenient horses? Its quite script heavy and caused problems all of the time with other mods. And settle on a modlist, dont add or change anything once you start your playthrough. You could also share your modlist for others to look at.
  11. Hmmm, if you dont get any help here maybe you could visit the Beyond Skyrim project forums. I am sure they must have experience with it. Or r/skyrimmods
  12. Not really in a position to help unfortunately, I want to try making a follower soon. But I love to test the mod if it is needed!
  13. I would re-install at this point (or at least verify game integrity through steam) and start a new profile in MO. Try slowly building up your mods (I usually install a few mods - and test play 5min - rinse repeat) And LOOT so you can see what it does. Especially if you are learning installing in batches is the way to go. First time I started modding I just downloaded everything and thought it would run... ah sweet summer child I was.
  14. Haha, well I guess its only a matter of time before you get an assasin on your ass. So do they shopkeepers get replaced? What happens? I never had any incidents myself... well mostly.
