use enough dynamite there butch?
graymaybe replied to VaultPi's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
This might possibly be the best post I've ever seen on this forum. I want this mod. -
You guys know there are plenty of mods to change the things you don't like, right? And there's no reason to complain about VATS, it's a callback to Fallout and Fallout 2, which were turn-based games. (And better than 3 IMO, thought I do love it.)

Sure is fetish in here. I'm going to go with no.

I'll start by saying it's probably somehow my fault. I decided I wanted to redo the Furnishings of the Waterfront Shack, so I starter messing with what was there. ( I left the items used to enable the furniture so that I could connect my new furnishings to them--but is it possible to make one of my new furnishings the parent that enables everything else in that set? Also, is it possible to move any of those enablers to a different cell? I'm making a basement. None of this is the problem I'm having, though, so feel free to ignore it if you don't have the answer.) Anyways, what happens is when I enter the house, it loads fine and all, but if I leave and re-enter I get a CTD before the loading screen shows up. If I wait or enter another cell first it isn't a problem and I can go in perfectly fine. It's just odd and a bit irritating, and I'm wondering if I could have somehow caused it or if it's a glitch with Oblivion I've never heard about. Though I'm not sure it's relevant, I'll post my load order, too. Cuts out the time where I'm asked to if nobody can explain it.

Deriving Attributes from Skills
graymaybe replied to graymaybe's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
I'm doing it for Nehrim, and anyways I already have a working script. Thanks anyways, though. -
I'm looking to make a mod that derives your primary attributes from your skills. I know next to nothing about scripting, though, so I'm not really sure how. I do know what I want it to do, though. I want attributes to be determined via this equation, ( Governed skills / 4 ) + 25 and luck via this equation, Sum of all attributes / 14. I'm also thinking it would be cool for strength to be done a little differently, where strength is determined thusly: ( Highest governed attribute / 2 ) + ( sum of two other governed attributes / 8 ) + 25 So that if your character used blades, their strength would be primarily derived from their blade skill (50 points of strength can come from blade, the other 25 from blunt and hand-to-hand, and the starting value of 25). I'm not sure that it matters that I'm making this mod for Nehrim, other than issues of game balance. I also want to make it where health is directly calculated from endurance, but I'm not going to mess with that if/until I manage this. Or maybe it would be easier to do that first, to get an idea of how to do this? Any input would be appreciated.

I have to second your need for a newer computer. I'm curious, though, how low are your specs that not even Oldblivion can help you?
-
This looks really cool; it makes me want to re-install Oblivion and play it. I probably will when it's released. Also, SureAI has no plans to get English voice actors for Nehrim. (However, not wanting to read subtitles is a poor excuse for not playing such an amazing game.)

You can kill me easy why cant i do the same in return.
graymaybe replied to mrpointless11's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Ideas
I highly recommend Arwen's Realism Tweaks: http://amito.freehostia.com/Fallout/FO-mods04.htm I won't even play Fallout 3 anymore without it. It's geared towards role playing, though I think it really improves combat as well. What you should do is go to that page and read thoroughly on what each module does before you decide what to use; it changes quite a bit if you install all four modules. -
I recall bringing it up to DarN on the Bethesda forums, he said it's hardcoded into the game but there may eventually be a workaround. So maybe it'll be done at some point by someone, but it probably won't happen soon.

Killing Mr House option way too radical?
graymaybe replied to MerceAR's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Spoilers
Lol, you both mad. Seriously, he wrote the obituary himself, he's an egotistical bastard. Still, I do think that killing him is ultimately a bad thing, and I like to think that eventually he might do some good, as he does have a lot of vision for the world. Mainly, though, he's just concerned about his own backyard. He's a businessman, and I don't think he has grand plans of expanding his power everywhere, he's just going to try and maximize profits. -
Killing Mr House option way too radical?

I didn't like it when he told me to take out the Brotherhood of Steel, but I do get it. Say they had contacted some larger group, like the Brotherhood of the east coast, down the line. Here he is, making all of this great technology come back to life (his plans for the future include bringing humans to space within a hundred years, along with many other advancements I assume). I think the Brotherhood would absolutely object and try to seize it themselves, killing off that little group which would contact a larger encampment buys him time. They'd still find out, eventually, and the Brotherhood of Steel in full force would be a formidable opponent with all of their knowledge of technology. He needs all the prep time he can get. -

Actually, the computer entries at the factory were written by Anthony House, his brother. -
Converting FO3 mod for FNV
graymaybe replied to KingsGambit's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
If I get you correctly, you're saying Bethesda was supposed to write a tool so that you can convert Fallout 3 mods to New Vegas? The whole thing about mods is that while they support them being made, they're not making them. They don't owe you anything, you should just be happy for the G. E. C. K. Also, because somebody did it before, they are absolutely never able to do it? They're not allowed to look at mods to see what people want? I'm pretty sure mods didn't come up with the idea of eating, man. -
No, it wouldn't. The file was removed because whoever ported it didn't have permission, and I doubt anyone is willing to get banned knowing that any ports of it aren't allowed. What you could do is look up the file for Fallout 3 and learn to do it yourself, making it for your personal use only.

A Doctor Companion, please, please.

There is Arcade Gannon, however not every character meets the requirements needed to have him as a follower. -
Galaxy News Radio across New Vegas
graymaybe replied to zzMoonDasherzz's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Sorry, but if you don't have all of the files on your system, you can't do it. While I don't know the licensing with the music, I know that we can't provide you with the Three Dog clips. However, CONELRAD 640-1240 is a radio station mod ported from Fallout 3 that has music somewhat similar to GNR. Why don't you try that out? -
We probably don't have them yet because there's no NVSE yet and the game has only been out for about two weeks now, less for people not in the USA. However, I do think cars would be awesome (particularly if they have headlights-- that could be one way you could mod them?)
-
I heard that it would stop happening if you removed the d3d9.dll, but I honestly don't remember where. (So don't delete it, just move it to your desktop or something so you can move it back if that's wrong.) Good luck getting the ending to play. It must really suck to haver that happen.

I Want my # 2 Hotkey Back!!!!!!!!!
graymaybe replied to bobk90's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Okay, now I'm pissed, too. Why is it even in the action mapping menu if I can't remap it? I mean, I'm angry that I have to have it there in the first place, right? I only use one type of ammo. So I go to chance it, and I'm thrilled when I see it there. I can select it and I'm asked to press the button to remap it only to be told, nope, can't do that boss. -
This would also be like Morroblivion in that it's illegal, and would be shut down at some point by Bethesda.

port all of fo3/tes 4 into new vegas?
graymaybe replied to jack254's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Even if you managed to get it running perfectly, you'd never be able to distribute it anywhere. It's illegal to do that, Bethesda doesn't actually have all the rights on the files in their games so they can't give permission for it. It would quickly go the way of Morroblivion--- extinct. -
I don't think that can legally be done, if you're talking about pulling the files straight from Fallout 3. Everything would have to be redone. Still, it's a cool idea, if not incredibly practical - it wouldn't fit in any buildings. So maybe a scaled down Liberty Prime?

Do You Use Universal Silent Voice or Not?
graymaybe replied to David Brasher's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
I think you should have them up separately for download, so that the people who don't need the files and don't want to waste the bandwidth don't need to download them. I suppose it really depends on how large the files are together, though. -
Color me intrigued. I can't really help you with programming or anything, but I can give a little feedback. When you were talking about travel and the map, I kept thinking about Fallout, how you click on a place in the big map and your trek across would only be halted for special encounters. I don't know if you'd want to do something like that, but I think it's worth considering. Also worth considering is how you would have one tile of the map loaded at a time in the game. (I don't know if that's what they're called, but I assume you'll understand what I'm talking about.) If you did something like that, it would probably help the engine not to lag. However, I see one set problem with your premise for this game: How can you be a ruler or nobleman of some sort if you're always on randomly generated land? Unless the character's goal is to always conquer far-off places, there's really no way to do it if you can't always go back to your castle or base of operations. There's no reason to even be involved with the government if it always changes and what you do has no lasting impact. But I don't know, perhaps I'm just misunderstanding you?
