  1. if you keep your 32bit OS, it will never see any of your new RAM If I upgrade RAM I'll get a new OS too. Can anyone recommend which version of windows 7 to get?
  2. Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to grab a 460 and maybe some RAM. My computer is running 32 bit though and that might need to be upgraded too then.
  3. why am I having troubles imagining this in a desktop? I'm not sure what you mean, that is what I get when I type RUN>dxdiag in my search menu, please elaborate I'm fairly clueless about what shared memory even does. Thanks for the reply lv00. I like the sound of the GTX 460 because it seems like Nvidia cards have better support for Skyrim which is my main reason for upgrading. Do you think the 560 ti would be worth the extra cost in comparison? And if you wouldn't mind could you post the approximate price of the two Nvidia cards and a few sticks of RAM cost? I'm just curious as to how bad I'm getting ripped when go to my local computer shop, their prices don't usually compare to what you see online unfortunately. And where would I find out if im using 64 bit? Thank you for your help.
  4. This is my current setup and it gets me close to 60fps on ultra setting in Skyrim. I'm not sure if this is all the information as I simple copied it from my dxdiag, if anything is missing please ask. Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.111025-0338) System Model: P5Q SE Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz Memory: 3326MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Display Memory: 2415 MB Dedicated Memory: 1007 MB Shared Memory: 1407 MB Unfortunately I've been spoiled by the graphics mods for previous Bethesda games and can't stand Skyrim's low res textures. When I use texture replacers for Skyrim along with a few other fps killers like enhanced shaders and FXAA I get lower than acceptable fps, generally 18-30fps and often experience memory related crashes. So my Question is, what should I go about updating in order to run Skyrim at more than 40fps while running the inevitable hundreds of mods I will install. Currently I'm considering getting more RAM but I am not sure if that will really fix anything as I know Skyrim doesn't take advantage of RAM very well, can someone explain this too me? I really don't know very much about hardware  -On a side note I would love if someone could explain to me whether my graphics card needs updating, as I checked some reviews, and they state that my card is basically a POS which I find strange as it runs Crysis at max setting except for AA which I leave at 4X. Thanks in advance for any help and please forgive my English: Im working on it :turned:
  5. Ya I would definitely want that, Im kinda ocd and cant stand playing a game without all the content, lol. If I can get it working and you pm me a steam account I'll give a steam game I don't play(I have a lot of doubles from holiday sale bundle packs)
  6. If anyone is willing to give me any witcher 2 preorder item codes I would gladly trade a steam game or two, i have an extra copy of call of pripyat and warhammer dawn of war 2 as well as a few others offer still stands
  7. The dynamic snow sounds real cool, but I think dynamic fire would also be a feature that could have some use, seeing as its about dragons and all
  8. The dynamic snow part would refer to snow actually falling and piling up on objects and scenery. Dynamic shadows mean that shadows will move depending on light sources, for example a torch, think far cry 2 or crysis.
  9. Welcome to oblivion modding I would recommend that you also install streamline as it really cuts down on stuttering and LOD pop up( if your computer can handle it turn off stream sight in the in game options menu) Also be sure to get the unoffical oblivion patches for the DLC's you have installed Deadly reflex has some pretty anoying textures so getting the deadly reflex texture replacer is highly recommended, also check out bloody mess it complements deadly reflex very well And be sure not to use Natural environments weather options with All Natural, I personally use All Natural, Natural Environments Habitat plug in, and Enhanced Vegetation Also if you read the readme for OOO and MMM carefully you can install both these incredible mods with out the hassle of a full FCOM install -cheers
  10. For base mods I highly recommend either WAC or OOO and MMM together for graphics I highly recommend enb series make the game look alot better without any fps loss if you tweak it a bit for weather I use All natural, better storms and sounds, rainbows in cyrodil, and the natural habitat component of natural enviroments ( for birds and stuff) illumination within is integrated in all natural I use enhanced vegetation and better trees and flora to make plants look great Alluring potion bottles v3 is now avalable and highly recommended you should tweak your ini or get blurred water reflections+enhanced water( the hd version of enhanced water is in my opinion too clear when submerged but if you use enb series it look perfect) for preformance definatly get elys crash prevention and quieter feet and oblivion script optimazation ( and tweak your ini!) if you want lots of npc interation I recommend Integration+Kragniers Death quest (these add hundreds of great quests and dialog), lore dialog updated, oblivionfall let us talk, persuasion overhaul, diverse voices, elys universal silent voice, roleplayers dialog, reneers guard overhaul, and enhanced quest dialog also get unique landscapes its a must -cheers
  11. All quest related npc's are marked as essential and cannot be killed, worst that could happen is that a merchant was killed, but with FCOM most of the good stuff is hidden in dungeons anyway so I dont see you having too much of a problem
  12. also check out TOTO (type it in google, dont know the link) good help on texture mods
  13. I have a fairly decent gaming rig but these are what i use, not sure how they will run on your laptop but worth a try Qarls texture pack 3 Unique landscape OMOD complilation Better Cities Enb series Bromrets texure pack for shivering isles OBGE v3 Alive waters hdmi enhanced water realistic ragdolls and force v3 get wet (dark) book jackets hd alluring potion bottles All natural+natural habitat(part of natural enviroment mod) inital glow lodgen drunken dragon cites alive at night cosmic skycycles hit shader replacer forward motion blur better gold storms and sounds glittering gold rainbows RAEVWD(qarls version) animated windows and lighting low ploy grass streamline stutter remover ini tweaks galore blood mods (many) mikal33s texture packs fake hdr(when not useing obge) beaming sunglare bloody spray bloody mess gorier blood better deadly reflex blood textures optimized land MAX visually realistic lava personality idles stylish jump silver rangers animations(i only use the movement ones) soft water reflections mao tons of facial improvment mods FCOM (pain in the ass though) Cats n rats tons of quest and new land mods( check on nexus their are tons of great ones) obse of course for combat and animations i use deadly reflex, unessasary violence, sudden violence
  14. Very few mods conflict with FCOM, one thing to watch out for is the huge difficulty spike in some mods due to multiple tough opponents, as far as new content goes I recommend integration, kragners death quest, velndoa bloodlines, tears of a fiend, and the lost spires these will add about 200 or so quests into cyrodill and shiving isles. The best new lands mod are elsweyr deserts of alequena and the underdark realm of northdark hope this helps
