  1. In response to post #24569234. Comparing Steam's user base to Second Life? Shame on you. Second Life has more creativity than Steam, and sure, good stuff costs money in Second Life. But there's a lot of free content you can find. So before you go bashing two different things do a little research. Mods do make a game more interesting. Second Life has no "mods". Everything is user created. Signing up for Second Life is free, and you don't need to spend a cent to explore the unending sea of creativity. After 12 years in Second Life I always find new and creative works of art, new builds, and plenty of friendly folks from the world over. Comparing the two communities is like comparing forks and the universe.
  2. I blame Steam. And all the awesome mods we have here at the Nexus... So many great mods and enhancements from great folks. All the hard work and effort spent on making our games exciting and new despite how many times we've played them through. My thanks to all the modders out there, you folks rock!
  3. So what if I have to wait about 20-45 seconds (or more) to download a file from the premium servers due to heavy load on the sites in general? This is the Nexus. I've come to expect the occasional hiccup in services, roll with the punches, and take it all in stride with a smile on my face. And its summer here in the US, kids out of school, new mods for games, butt crumpets firing up their DDoS systems... Expect issues. So hang on tight.
  4. Leave it to one butt crumpet to spoil the tea party for the rest of us. I was *THIS* close to updating the ApachiiSkyHair via NMM yesterday too around that time. Just so happened I had to head back to the office to fetch my cell phone. Good catch Nexus admins!
  5. That darn Murphy can strike at any time... I've still yet to find a system engineer that is happy to be woken up at 2am to fix something...
  6. I say we all chip in and buy the folks behind the DDoS attacks tickets to a Hawaiian Hot Springs Resort, you know the ones with those... fake... lava pools you can relax in as a way of letting bygones be bygones.
  7. I too have this same issue. Skyrim runs fine for about 10 minutes, then I notice lag, looking around the FPS drops, stutters, and sometimes goes away when I look in another direction, then lags and stutters. On an AMD "Bulldozer" rig it shouldn't lag like this, this rig far exceeds the recommended requirements. Skyrim lags at every setting other than low, something I would expect from my old laptop, but not this rig. System specifications: Skyrim version 1.8, (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn) AMD FX-8150 8 core processor @ 3.61ghz (7.7 score in Windows 7) 16gb G.Skill Sniper DDR32133/PC3-17000 RAM (7.7 score in Windows 7) nVidia geForce GTX 560TI (True nVidia card) (7.8 score in Windows 7) Windows 7 Ultimate X64 ASUS Crosshair V Formula motherboard Corsair H100 water cooling system (processor runs at 40-43 degrees celsius, motherboard runs at 43-45 degrees celsius while playing Skyrim) nVidia/Realtek High Definition on board audio OS and game hard disks run at 7200rpm (5.9 score in Windows 7) Additional components: Logitech G19 keyboard Logitech G9 (Generation 1) mouse HP 22" LCD panel ROG Connect RC TweakIt (USB motherboard remote control/monitoring) avast! Antivirus The only other game that has issues with sudden laggy performance and a 95% FPS drop is Second Life when facing East and South on the grid. Also happening at the same time as Skyrim's performance issues.
  8. Script kiddie or hacker, both the same since you need the mindset to actually DO something to attack or compromise a target. Illegal in both departments. I'm all for having the kid magically fill their shorts when law enforcement knocks on their door.
