About Fowldragon

  1. In response to post #30063590. You assume that typing is a simple matter...you don't actually know that though. You believe it is simple for you and that's all the mental effort you'll apply...I won't waste my time in an attempt to excuse through disability what I've already conceded as laziness. Good catch though, deducing what was openly admitted. The Issue of choosing a focus group is fairly simple... Base selection on what you hope to gain from the group and what combination of people/experience would best accomplish that goal...state the qualifiers you value and choose from the respondents... Nothing I said was meant to, nor should it have been inferred to mean that Robin had anything to do with the Focus group selection...Paul was chosen to manage aspects of the Nexus operation so Robin would then be free'd up to actually have a life and opportunity for Holiday with his mates instead of minding the fallout from Gabe/VALVE's next misadventure and misjudgement. This is not Robin who posted here....Paul is who I offered response to and it is HE who I essentially said...' What do you need a focus group for anyway...trust your judgement.' But Maybe you're privy to more of the decision making process...of who's choice it was to establish a focus group...who chose the group...maybe that is where and why you perceive criticism of Robin when none was given. As for the membership...I have more than 1...but assuming I've only been around for 10 months is reasonable...how could you know...and why would you bother to consider something outside your field of vision...
  2. In response to post #29990190. #29994420, #30004085, #30041915 are all replies on the same post. I also misspell and Poorly punctuate... Image result for ellipseswww.charbase.com Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from the Ancient Greek: ????????, élleipsis, "omission" or "falling short") is a series of dots (typically three, such as "…") that usually indicates an intentional omission of a word, sentence, or whole section from a text without altering its original meaning. Given that the purpose of ellipses is to mark an omission...or to imply a pause for emphasis...It then is used most appropriately for one who is too lazy to punctuate and spell correctly. My excess is proof that I am far more lazy than most. Pointing to it over the content of my comment though exposes a desire to ignore everything except the ellipses.
  3. So why not simply establish the criteria you used to make your choice from the outset?...for instance...if you chose not to involve anyone who wasn't at least a supporter...someone who had at least one mod posted. Following the great Pay-mod fiasco...both user and modder have moved on...This is not a Community...people will move to new games...to different life involvements...some will cease to exist in the context of gaming altogether... Robin has injected some life into nexus by delegating aspects of the site to those with a passion...but establishing focus groups and such tends to complicate the decision making process...use your judgement...take ownership...and when change occurs by your hand...the feedback will come...do you really believe that there is a chance that you would fail to make the changes needed...or that the ones you do make will be off the mark?...
  4. I remember months ago arguing here......I recently underwent surgery and nearly died twice...Life goes on...if we're lucky... So don't take anything for granted...good that there are people trying to get a couple bucks for those who mod...but this will end for everyone eventually. .thank those who deserve thanks ... pay them if you can afford it ... a minute from now it may not enter you mind and in 2 minutes it may never again... if you mod...accept who you do it for and why...if its for money you picked the wrong game..
  5. In response to post #27539109. #27539259, #27539509, #27539644, #27545754, #27548114, #27548434, #27549359, #27550899, #27551044, #27551895, #27552605, #27553920 are all replies on the same post. My Niece is an avid on-line gamer...she had gotten in to Skyrim for a time, but was more than alittle consumed with League'...her younger sister is more of a girly'-girl and gravitates toward Sims....I think it's a good dea to team with females...they are inately atuned to multi tasking and comrtmentalizing stress...in PVP/team skirmish...it is quite an asset...but for Longer winded games...the ability is no less valuable...it is just less consuming and captivating...unless theinvolved in leading through creaion... Female moddrs tend to be very thorough in their productions. But God help you when you criticize them....you might as well have SLAPPED their BABY.
  6. I don't find the amount of response surprising...a survey is like a mass mail-out...it doesn't target any demographic so that it tends to only get about a 2% return....This then means that you can safely assume that there are 1 million users moving in and out over the course of that period...You have the serves stats so you could easily get a more exact number...but the problem is determining of the various age and gender sub sets...who is more likely to respond...so that your total could be less by a fair percentage. If you determine that people below 18 and people over 45 don't do surveys...the amount of active users can be fairly higher...but just to keep it simple assume the two offset each other... My big issue is trying to get a multi weapon wield system working...it involves skeleton body, animations and ui...Of course if I knew exactly what was involved and how each interacted in co-dependencies...I wouldn't be still looking for a solution... Now for me, a Nephew who has been a gamer since Atari and who is an IT exec ..an easy-button solution is available if I really want to ... but if you could create an SOI (Sphere of Influence) chat like once a weekfor each general issue a gamer might be dealing with...and say...geve some incentive to Modders to facilitate those chats...you would take a lot of frustration out of the modding learning curve...and your 6 hr per week user might be spending 8-10 hrs...33% jump in use means more add exposure.
  7. In response to post #27232604. #27232924 is also a reply to the same post. ONYA BJ..often knowing the best course is not nearly as important as knowing which paths NOT to take...your overarching objective and the fact that that you are a prolific GAMER GEEK...is reassuring...If YOU are looking at it and saying , " I would use this" it's a fair bet everyone else will as well...best of luck.
  8. people don't fear change...ESPECIALLY not gamers...What people fear is the game will cease to be enjoyable and they have been patterned to expect that often change that is necessary to adhere to contemporaneous methods or preferences...is invariably followed by changes to fix the changes...what people fear most is that the process will be drawn out.
  9. In response to post #24893994. #24894334, #24895424 are all replies on the same post. If you look at the 3 preceeding blog pieces and take those comments into account, There has been a significant exchange of opinion position and unintended emoticons... Your post will sit here for a LONG time with a large number of people reading it...Nobody has abandoned their positions...everyone though is moving on...
  10. The parties involved knew that there would be a push-back from the community...they Knew the noise would be unreasonable and even threatening by some. Both Bethesda and Valve had reiterated their commitment and had "Doubled Down" on their intent to see this model through..only to drop it when a FAR more potent and injurious threat became apparent; Bethesda/Valve was not only infringing on copyright rights ...they were tacitly encouraging it. The claim that the community convinced the Corporate Robber-Barons that they were not in charge is IDIOCY. As well, the belief that the Community effort took food from the mouths of Innocent babes.. is a failed logic. Many if not most are completely aware of the DMCA issue...but somehow believe that until it is confirmed, they'll continue to engage less plausible beliefs and opinions. It's time to end the continued assault to deceased equine. Edit; But of course you won't...I wonder if there are some continuing for a purpose...or is their life so empty?
  11. For those who've commented that they accept and encourage modders to pull their work and leave, consider what is happening...In the last 3-4 days, I've seen the SAME mods on the banner page. There doesn't seem to be any new mods/modders coming to replace the ones lost ... good or bad... I gotta ask..is this REALLY the result modders want?...and for the rest of us, are we really going to let Skyrim Nexus DIE? I was convinced the the injustice of Valve's move justified the fight...But this seems to be a result that Valve and Bethesda GAIN from as well... Instead of Nexus being a bastion of support for Modders. It is only committing to NOT CHANGING. As underhanded as Valve and Bethesda may have been, They showed tangibly that they were willing to CHANGE. Dark0ne, You may want to change at least ONE thing....Stop Blogging your honest thoughts every 3-7 days...it is quite obvious people are paying VERY CLOSE attention.
  12. I wonder how much we play this game anymore? I played this game first on console...I would bet i amassed a half dozen complete play-throughs. I had 2 different accounts with steam and I spent another 3,000hrs on PC. I've also spent at least a thousand hours on the ck. I was never good enough to publish a finished mod. In the last two weeks I have about 13 hours ck/Skyrim. and in truth, that was all within 3 days. I don't Play the game any more..what I played was the CK...and now I've dropped that as well. As I look back on the last week and consider the effort I put into fighting the Valvethesda "Revenue Sharing Model"...I now wonder if I was doing the right thing. Dark0ne blogged .."a lack of good communication with the community at large prior to releasing the tools has completely bewildered the entire community and contributed in a big part to the resounding amount of resentment towards the new system." Reasonable people can generally agree when given time to consider all there is to an issue, But I believe that even when we are given NO time, we are still obligated to choose and act. I wish I'd read FavoredSoul and Foster and the other modders who made such excellent points BEFORE this all went down. I wish there had been time for us all to really understand all that this meant to all of those involved...I wish I had it all to do over again, because I'm not sure I would have responded the same way.

  15. In response to post #24786564. You consider each project a contract. 1099 all your staff as independent sub-contractors..THUS, the amount they receive is renegotiated with each project. The compensation doesn't go up or down whether the project never sees publication, or it becomes a GOY and earns a THOUSAND awards. As for property, I would consider the rights to ALL unique content to be retained by the original Author and would get explicit consent for its use, provided the cost to do so doesn't exceed the cost to make it myself.
