  1. Just gonna give this a single bump... Having to manually mod over a 100 armor pieces served as reminder.
  2. Hi intrepid modders. I were hoping someone one else might be interested in making some sort of "batch" crafting/modding mod. Presently in my game, I'm having so much gear in the workshop, that managing it and all the possible versions of guns and armor is a bit of an issue. I'm attempting to equip my settlers with standard outfits, armor and guns for various tasks, but I'm hoping bethesda itself will improve on the whole settler management thing. In the mean time tho... I would absolutely love to have a mod to help me out, with the various challenges I'm bumping into like: Wanting to remove mods from multiple weapons and armor and possibly reuse elsewhere. Wanting to apply multiple different mods to multiple weapons and armor. Making sure I don't strip, preferred weapons, named weapons, specifically named weapons, legendary and/or unique weapons. Possibly automatically scapping certain items, possibly after stripping them. Eg. I come home from some exploring and dump a variety of random items and loot into eg. a storage container. Depending on my settings it will then... strip random mods from eg. combat armor and make those... as far as I have available mods and materials... try to make a standard combat armor with mods x and y. Strip random mods from all guns ... and try to make eg. a standard combat rifle with mods a and b. It would leave me free from trying to take each individual armor and weapon, strip and mod til it fits what I want for my settlers all over the commonwealth. It leaves all the other mods free for me to play around with for my own guns. Sure I could just cheat myself to everything, but I'd prefer to have still incur materials costs and so on. Maybe it's a silly thing, but I can imagine there's a few who feel like me. :) Thank you in advance for any interest :)
  3. Oblivion had pretty hefty requirements when it came out didn't it? Also the first mentions of Quarls Texture Pack were commented on as needing a whopping 512 mb of video memory compaired to the allmost standard of 256 mb at the time. :)
  4. Typically I have allready run into problems. OBMM reports conflicts in Quarls Texture Pack OMOD. Specifically that parts 1-9 conflicts with an allready active mod. Which is weird since I only have the game plus expansions installed. Update... I decided to ignore the warnings and activate and overwrite with 1, 2, 3 ... Then the unofficial patches then omod'ed the QTP uop patch. PS: I game at 1920x1200 but my system could sorta handle the mods. Since its not an fps im ok with semi-low frames per second. I did seem to max out my videomemory at times so I'm thinking of upgrading the card to either a 6870 with 2 gb or a 560 ti also with 2 gb memory. Shadowcrest manor had a few places where I was gpu processing limited with severe fps drops. However these were non action scenes. The new cards should be twice as fast in this aspect.
  5. Hi and thanks for your replies. My system is: e8500@3160 mhz (core2 wolfdale) 4 gb kingston hyperx something ddr2 nvidia gtx260 (216 core) with 896 vid mem. Raid 0 array of 2 640 gb samsung drives. So far I'm guessing the install order should be: Quarls Texture pack 3 Unofficial patches QTP compatibility with UOP Kvatch Rebuilt Natural environments Animated window lighting system (AWLS) Crowded roads Shadowcrest vineyard Aleswell cottage Vilja companion Newly downloaded so newest versions. So far I'm not planning on further mods untill I get this working properly :)
  6. Hi guys, It's been quite a while since I've played oblivion and installed any mods. So I've kinda forgotten all of it. Basically theres quite a few mods I wanna install plus more or less based on recommendations. The ones I liked in the past are: Quarls Texture pack Animated window lighting system (AWLS) Crowded roads Natural environments Vilja companion Shadowcrest vineyard Aleswell cottage Kvatch Rebuilt Also maybe the unofficial patches. I have the Game of the year edition with knights of the nine and shivering isles. Where I'm confused is in what order to install OMOD, OBMM and so forth and when these are installe in what order to install the mods. Mostly to avoid my old installation mess and get a more clean one to fit with the windows reinstallation. Thanks in advance and sorry if this turned into a mess of a post.
  7. I don't really like MMORPG's personally and agree that it wouldn't fit into oblivion. The ability to share a bit of your experiences in an oblivion game would be nice though. I'm thinking COOP FTW. Have a better selection and more realistic companions available for the player. Then let my buddies be able to play as one of these with me in the game. Regarding technical feasibility and challenges for this to happen. 1. All players would need the game though. 2. A division of all mods into atleast graphical enhancement mods (like quarls) which only enhances one players game would not have to be installed on both computers. However content ADDING mods would have to be installed on all computers. 3. How to syncronize the game world on the computers? If this takes too much bandwidth it won't be possible. Atleast if people are to be able to play the coop game by themselves for a bit and not only together. Basically you will have to share the savegames I think.
  8. Well I do think that it's technically possible. My oblivion folder is 12.5 gb big with shivering isles, knights and QTP installed. Thats for the heartlands. There's five other regions in Tamriel right? 50+ gb install and we'll be good to go. You would probably have to go blu-ray to avoid a bunch of DVD's in the box but I'd prefer downloading it. Oblivion has load screens for entering houses and cities. You might as well have one for other regions. The biggest problem would be to create 4 other regions with the same amount of complexity. Basically it's the art, textures and background. The immersion factor. I don't think any gaming company can afford that for one game. It would be too costly compaired to the amount of money they can make through sales.
  9. As far as I can read here: Ati mobility wiki The card has either 512 or 1024 mb onboard vram whereas the rest of the advertised mem will be system memory (which is much slower). Performance wise the card is lower middle class ?!? And 2 generations old. Still the only way to check out the performance is to try the mods out and see if its playable :)
  10. I have to admit that I've never played Morrowind or Daggerfall. So for what falls best in line with the game series must be up to you guys to judge. My suggestion sounds a bit like a MMORPG or whatever they call it but perhaps something lesser could be implemented in a singleplayer game. I was pondering this a bit yesterday and came up with a few ideas. The absolutely free living world. You can choose to be anyone and the game generates random realistic quests on the level and type of character you pick. Eg. The inn keeper, the most action oriented thing would be to fight off bandits while you go shopping for goods and supplies. The game proceeds with an NPC hero fighting the big fights which you read about in the press and rumours. Quite an impossible game with todays hardware and software I think. A lesser version of the above. Certain set characters/roles with their own plotlines in addition to the fully customizable main hero. 1 character would end up as a count, 1 would end up owning the best inn along the goldcoast road, as a squire to the main hero knight or grand thief or grand assasin. Some of the quests could be from the main hero line. The gameworld should feel living with things happening with or without the players interaction. How "big" a character the player ends up decides how much he can affect the gameworld. Regarding the nice compainion mod vilja. The reason its so great is the 2300+ (???) voiced lines by the creator and it's also this huge amount of work that keeps other companions from being as immersive. So an excellent mod tool for future games would probably be a way for the developers to have a huge choice of different voices that could be cut and pasted together easily to create voiceovers. Even though it might not aaaallways sound entirely convincing it would help. If modders then want to creater their entirely unique companion theyd obviously still have to voiceover themselves. Random thought about voices. How about making it easy to voice your own characters replies? :D Show us the lines were sposed to speak and record it? :D EDIT: And a little more swordplay. Let me hold eg. alt down and the character doesn't move around but I chose with a mouse "gesture" whether I wanna slash right to left or vice versa or stab left or right... ( = "hammer" enemy from the left and ) = "hammer" enemy from the right. -> Makes enemy stagger when connecting to armor but can be deflected with the sword or shield doesnt do much damage mostly stuns enemy. | forward motion of mouse that curves to the right or left = stab right or left. -> high damage if it penetrates but allmost impossible to do if the enemy wears say chainmails or plate armor. View down, straight ahead or up to target either legs, torso or head. Head slashes do most damage but is harder to hit. Torso easiest but usually most protected, legs middle damage but can slow enemy and eg. let you flee the battle. PS: These are just more or less random thoughts on things that would IMHO make a better more immersive game. Whether they are possible? Fits in with the game? Or maybe becomes a tradeoff between accessibilty/gameplay versus realism or immersion is for others to decide. :) It's kind of a brainstoming.
  11. Yeah I pretty much missed that. But I do agree. :) ... Perhaps a few additional search tags. Eg. for armor: Realistic, slightly revealing/alluring or sexy. With examples maybe?
  12. Nice tip :) I havent found ordinary remove reinstall that annoying YET though. @damnedifiknow: Good to hear that you narrowed it down that much. If you want to but cant play along with that character maybe you could try out windom earles "oblivion crash protection" obse plugin? Regarding your win xp. If it's acting up you could try to run "sfc /scannow" with your windows xp cd in the drive. It will check that system files are in order and correct versions. Thats allways worth a shot before you grudgingly bite the bullet and reinstall windows. :)
  13. Uhm from my mod newbie perspective. Ease of use -> OMOD + BOSS Compatibility -> If it breaks stuff I won't reinstall it. Simplicity -> Unless youre making a grand game altering allmost total conversion of the game. Then just try to keep it to tiny tiny modular mods in my humble oppinion. Lastly people have very varying tastes around here. Some fans of gameplay overhauls laugh at us that couldn't live without graphical mods and vice versa. At this point with my current quite good computer and quite a long break from oblivion I'm interested in just buffing up the graphical qualities, immersion, tweaking and stability of regular oblivion. After a few play throughs I might get into gameplay altering. :)
  14. Well regarding female armors the most "revealing" that doesn't break my immersion is the slightly different breastplate for women. Yeah and maybe the standard dresses ingame atm. It just seem too farfetched for me to have an "armor" that leaves half the chest and thus vital organs exposed. I'd like a few more realistic armors that just looks good in themselves Now whether the mods are perv?!?! To some they are and to others theyre not. As long they dont get pushed out like a steam automatic update for everyone. PS. We still doesnt have the tail clipped, vaseline covered with a string tied around it rat perv mod. YET....
