  1. No, I haven't. Thank you for your kind help! I just found the solution myself: I took the wrong file name, just -1- at the ending instead of -0-, I mean the name still before the "_0d.dds". Feel like a lemon. Sorry for bothering...
  2. I've made a retexture for a noble garment. Now I put the d.dds file into my override folder. Afterwards I fetched the garment via console into the game. In principle it worked... But: a) A detail (a blazon) which I made with a layer in Gimp is simply missing. b) Another detail is appearing althoug I made a layer to cover it. c) The colours are partially wrong. - I made most of the garment ecru, but parts of it are salmon-coloured instead of ecru. Other parts seem to be ecru with a hint of green. So here come my questions: 1. Does the vanilla texture shine through? 2. Is it possible to fix it? Rosvita
  3. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's like a kind of miracle! Now I can open all of the d.dds files. Hurrah! (I've tested it with several files, which had been black before.) Rosvita
  4. Thank you very much for your kind hint! Unfortunately I haven't got the dds plugin for IrfanView. It's not in the list of the installed plugins under the menu option "help" of IrfanView. I tried to download from the specified website "http://www.irfanview.com". However it's not been part of the packet with "all" plugins although it's declared as supported file format on the official website of IrfanView. Rosvita
  5. For retexturing I need some original (*d.dds) files. I know the files and I know there site. Most of them work. So far, so good. However, there are some of them which are just black in Paint and in IrfanView respective grey in Gimp. Could this be a kind of program mistake or do I something wrong? Is there a way to fix it?
  6. I guess, that's just a question of chronology: First possibility: - you didn't invite him yourself (tent) - you accompanied him to Goldanna - afterwards back again at the camp he will ask you to spent the (very first) night with him (in this case you won't hear the sentence you are waiting for) Second possibility: - you invited him yourself (tent) - and he accepted in case of very high affection - you accompanied him to Goldanna - afterwards back again at the camp he will say the sentence you are looking for
  7. You know very well, Magdalena, that I don't refer to any statements concerning some theories about Loghain but only to your condescending statement about my English skills, condescending, arrogant, overbearing and boastful (and incorrect in substance at that, what everyone who can English and who can read would have noticed). And if not, your English skills were not in the least as good as you believe. You got what you needed? Good to know. You needn't to continue with considerations of content, what seems to be very clear to everybody. How? As I told you before: a simply "sorry" would have done. (Maybe you haven't got the sufficient skills even to read.) But it's not just, that you seem to be unable to bring yourself to do that - no, in addition, now you go the extra mile alleging me no "good intentions", well, carefully rhetorically worded, but anyhow unambiguously. Subtly, indeed. Neutral subject? I love this wording! It's so useful! No need for argumentation. Do you know the pope's thoughts, too? You know the papal infallibility, don't you? I am sure, that you would like it. It's too bad, that they don't accept female popes. Chin up! You still have got your "neutral subject"! Stepping in my defense? You can't be serious! You are the only person who have been attacking me. Thandal only followed up on my originally statement, because he hadn't been sure what I meant, because he couldn't know the German voiceovers, and I explained it for him. That's it.
  8. Not the first and not the last jarring error in localised versions of DAO (and its successors)... So, how will it be with closing the thread and proverbially going somewhere nice to constructively complain about inefficient translations to move on, guys ? Because the whole discussion I have seen on the last pages pretty much stems from the pitiable fact. And the need to differentiate meta knowledge from character knowledge (like Anne said, what the writer knows is not what the GW knows). So, why don't you just say: "Sorry!" for your absurd statement? Then we could move on.
  9. Thank you very much, Thandal. But this kind of misunderstanding is only possible in the English version of the game. But me, I NEVER ASSUMED that Rite was right, because I play it in German, and in German there are completely different expressions: "Recht" - with one single syllabe - (= "right") and "Ritual" - with three syllabes: Ri - tu - al - (="rite"). (In addition, the pronunciation is completely different.) There is NO possibility to have this kind of misunderstanding caused by the sound in the German version, and I HAVEN'T. (I only didn't use the expression "Tranquility". I never had any problem to make out the difference between "right" and "rite", I never had, I never would and I never will.)
  10. Thank you for your further kind explanation. Myself I never had this misunderstanding (and I don't know, why Thandal assumed it), because in German it isn't the same sound: It's "Recht" for right and "Ritual" for rite. P.S.: And this is not Gaider's only "retconning"...
  11. Sorry, but that's not what David Gaider (lead writer of the Dragon Age-series and author of Asunder) said five years ago in the post I quoted from the BioWare forums in response to your exact point about the erroneous usage in the Codex Entry, It is not a rite at all, It is the RIGHT of Annulment. It's the legal authority granted to the Templars (by exception, and only upon request and appropriate approval) to kill all the mages within a Circle. BTW: Still trying to figure out what rosvita meant by: "Rite of Appeasement". @Thandal: rosvita meant the Rite of Tranquility. s. http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Tranquil - Hope, this entry has been no error... - "The Tranquil are a group of mages who went through the Rite of Tranquility and belong to the Formari. The Rite cuts off the connection to the Fade, and the Tranquil can no longer dream nor draw on the Fade to perform magic." (As I told you before, the German game uses the expression "Besänftigter", which means in English "appeased". In addition, sorry, it seems to be quite clear concerning the original idea of Magdalena.) - In addition (and you know, that I never wrote something about the Right of Annulment), (concerning mcgoy's kind expIanation) I already wondered, which kind of rite should be possible for a killing..., but then it's just an error in the Codex.
  12. As I remember you haven't got the possibility to get and read the Dragon Age novels yourself. So things have changed for you? You wrote, that "it is not common knowledge". But that's the point in the story. Suddenly, it could become common knowledge. I thought, that this could be an interessant information for you. And that you would appreciate every help you can get. After all you let me tell you whole novels... In each case, common knowledge or not, as a reversible act it wouldn't be a sufficient punishement for Loghain and I am astonished that you suggested it just knowing about the reversible character. Well, as I remember, you are Polish. So English isn't your first language neither. Concerning me, I don't need any exculpation just for using a single(!) expression "appeasement" - which by the way has got as one meaning "Besänftigung" - instead of "tranquillement", which has not got the meaning "Besänftigung". In the German game the expression is "Besänftigter" for the person. "Just starting to learn English" - no, I wouldn't have been able to make translation mods nor to write instructions about Dragon Age nor to test the ARR mod etc. And on one thing you can be sure: I don't appreciate your malice! I am sure, that Anne don't need your mark. Furthermore, I am sure, that I understand this explanation of Anne as well as you do.
  13. @mcgoy: Thank you for your kind explanation, too! Seems to be very clear.
  14. Hi Thandal, first of all, thank you for your kind hints! Nevertheless, as I remember I didn't use the word "annul" nor the "Right of Annulment". I actually mean "rite" as I wrote. (It's from the Latin word "ritus", which we use original in German, too, as "Ritus" for some ceremony, and I would never mix up "rite" with "right", because "right" is a very current expression; but thank you for your kind explanation). I only didn't remember the expression "tranquility". And now back on topic: During the story "Asunder" Wynne and her son, who was a mage, too, met a mage, less or more a friend of Wynne, who had gone through the rite of tranquility, but he was able to manipulate the Fade again. All parties, the templars, the seekers, the Divine had been surprised about! It seemed to be a kind of revolution. The Lord-seeker himself wanted the templars to kill the people who knew about this possibility. By the way, the poor mage should go through the rite a second time (and he didn't want to do), but he had been murdered before. I never liked the option to let Loghain go through this rite instead of dying for his crimes. Now knowing that the effect could be revised I think this more than ever. Regards rosvita
  15. Hi Magdalena, I've just finished my reading of the third Dragon Age book by David Gaider "Asunder" and I learnt - surprise, surprise -, that the rite of the appeasement IS reversible. For that reason alone, myself I don't think, that your third option for Loghain would work... Regards rosvita
  16. Hello and welcome, at the very beginning it seems to be a little bit confusing with installing the mods. Don't worry! Anyhow, myself I had the same feeling. So there are two sorts of mods: 1. The mods for the override folder. Very simple to handle: Unzipping the archive and then installation = put the result (a single file or often another folder) into the override folder; deinstallation = delete the file or the sub-folder into your override folder! There should be some readmes or hints into the description text of the mod. 2. The mods for the DAUpdater or another special program to install. It's without unzipping the archive, because the installing program is using the whole archive how it is. This one seems to be a mod of the second sort. Personally I wouldn't use the DAUpdater, at all, because it's not possible to remove some files with it. Here on Nexus is another good tool for installing .dazip files, the DAModder. You will find it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/286/? To find the files I am using I made a own new folder near the DAModder folder and called it: My dazips. Opening the DAModder you will see a window with vanilla setting "zip". You have to change it to "dazip" (kind of pop-up choosing) - clicking at the little arrow at the right side. Afterwards you can search in your folders for the wished .dazip file. Hint: If you get another archive file format like .zip, then just rename it with .dazip, because the installing programs only accept the .dazip file format, which is standing for Dragon Age zip, I mean. Hope, that will be helpful...
  17. There are a couple of mods including the Cousland princess getting family ressemblence to her mother or to both of her parents. I am looking for a mod vice versa, which means, that the mother should look similar to the (free by the player created) daughter. I believe, that I have seen such a mod before, but I cannot find anymore...
  18. Thank you for the hints! I had been already learning about PRCSCR (before requesting here ). Now I am reading about GDA.
  19. Hello, I am not sure, whether this is the fitting categorie for my problem. Sigh. However, the situation is: 1. I forgot to take Oghren with me at Ostagar. Wondrously that worked. I guess normally Oghren had to appaer automatically at the entrance of the Deep Ways, but he didn't. Now I am going back to Ostagar just after the Landsmeet, but I cannot find Oghren there. 2. During another playthrough I just tested to use the console before entering the roof of Fort Drakon with calling the secret companion to kill the Archdemon as recommended just not to need to do the ritual. 3. At the gates: - I hear the voice of invisible Oghren. - I hear the voice of the invisible secret companion - and Alistair is not part of my party, although I have chosen him for the last battle. Help!
  20. Many thanks for your detailed answer! I will try to give the needed additional information. No. Actually, at this point I didn't export nothing, either the chest itself or the items in it, because I wanted to ask you before. Oh, that's great. I am glad to hear it! So I will delete my superfluous empty scripts for my items. - Oh, I am sorry. I thought it would be the fitting script, because the main title of the source site is: "PRCSCR Script Templates" and the section has got the title: "Adding a placeable into an existing Area" and the script itself has got the title: "Script: (As taken from the Storage Chest mod a kind Bioware employee made)". - Do I need a special script for the modul itself? Thank you so much for the links. I will look at it. Well, I meant the incipiently existing old tag in the script template (I didn't mean 'foreign' for a foreign language, I meant 'foreign' as from another author than me). The first order of the tutorial to individualise the script was: Replace "tal_ip_storage_chest" in the 2nd line with the "Tag" of your own placeable. (only small letters allowed) I think, it's correct, too. Thank you for the links! And, yes, I remember you recommending using your mod for the coordinates to me, but I haven't been sure, whether I could and should mix up the methods. It seems to be possible. ok - Thank you very much for that information. - Actually, I didn't mean how to get the name. However that's an valuable information for me, too. - Now I found it into the object inspector (section 'General'): 'arl02al_redcliffe_ castle' as 'AreaList'. - I still have got my question, where do I use that AreaListName? Into a script? If so, which script? I guess you mean the links above? I will read it. That's great! I am glad about it. Thank you so much for encouraging me in it!
  21. @mcgoy: I have started to work at this project. But now I could need some help. May I ask you something? Into the Toolset I made a new modul "Schwerttruhe". I've taken a placeable into the Toolset in my modul. It's an ornated chest (container). I wanted it to stand into room 1 at Redcliffe Castle. I "made" several items into the Toolset in my modul to lay into my new chest and I already put them into the inventory list of the placeable (chest) in its .utp file in the Toolset. Now I have got some questions about: A. Do I need scripts for the particular items, which shall lay into the chest? (I've already made some - still empty - scripts for each item.) B. For the script of the chest I took the template 'Adding a placeable into an existing area' from the web: s. http://social.biowar...n_existing_Area a) I've already changed the foreign Tag in the second line (with my own Tag "schwerttruhe"). - order 1. of the tutorial - b) I've already changed the foreign resource file name in the third line (with the resource name of my own placeable "schwerttruhe.utp"). - order 2. of the tutorial - c) Then I wanted to change the coordinates behind 'Vector'. - order 3. of the tutorial - - Inside of a duplicate (got it with 'Open local copy') of arl220ar_castle_main_floor I placed a chest into the right corner near to the chimney into room 1. - Afterwards I took a photo of the object inspector concerning the Location and there the position. -- I changed the three numbers of the position in the script behind the Vector. -- But I couldn't find the categorie 'rotation'. Therefore I let it be 0.0 (The tutorial says: " Note down the numbers in the Object Inspector, and get the first 3 numbers of Position, and the 4rth Number from Rotation. (only 1 number, the first) Rotation needs to be recalculated before entering it into the script. For positive angles do (180-angle). For negative angles do (-180-(-angle)).") C. The tutorial says: "Adding a placeable into an existing Area M2DA Setup: AreaListName must not be "any". Chose a specific one. Copy the GDA into your modules override folder." a) So where do I integrate the AreaListName? b) "The" GDA - which GDA is meant, where do I get it? Am I at least on the right track?
  22. Hello patdc, many thanks for your kind hint! I will try to PM him. Best regards rosvita
  23. I've got an idea for a scene in the DLC Return to Ostagar. By superficial consideration I didn't find this area into the Toolset. I only saw the initial Ostagar. So I wonder whether it isn't possible at all to make any mods about DLCs. I am asking this in general.
  24. Many thanks again to you, Yara! For your kind help und for this hint! I will never become acquainted with all of these SQL programs...
