  1. Hello! I'm looking for some testers. I made some translated versions of some original english mods in German. I guess, German as first language would be helpful. Best regards rosvita
  2. Hi Magdalena, thank you for your kind words! Actually I know something about law, (in addition a little bit of history)... Concerning the books, I think they are not really action-packed. Actually malicious gossip has it, that they seem to be a little bit boring. First one about the endless escape and some fights, second one about the endless way through the deep ways... Attention - SPOILER of the books - : 1. The first one treats the rebellion against the orlaisian puppet ruler, "King" Meghren. It started with the act of treason by some thanes of Queen Moira (Maric's mother). At the age of eighteen poor Prince Maric had to see the murder of his mother. He killed one of the murderers in self-defence and escaped. During his flight he met Loghain, being already a kind of outlaw at this point of the story. The base of Loghain's bitter hatred is not the main subject of the story, because it's only topic of some conversation between Loghain and Maric, a kind of flashback, if you will. In other words: From the beginning Loghain's hate is as deep as it could be. (By the way, I can comprehend defenitily his feelings, because he had to watch his mother's rapes.) Relating to this, here is no kind of development during the whole story. That is really to bad. Actually there are four psycological lines in the book: - The development of the friendship between Maric and Loghain (At the beginning Loghain hated(!) Maric, because his royalist father sacrificed himself for the king and compelled Loghain, who seemed to be a kind of scout or ranger with a bow, to rescue Maric. But little by little Loghain falled for Maric's charms. By the way, this story all the time resemblances to a story of Alistair, because he closely resembles his father in character, sense of honour and espacially in charms...) - The development of Maric, being at the beginning a shier boy, becoming little by little a real king, including to take harsh decisions. - Another love interest for Maric, which sowed the seeds for the later love to Alistair's mother, because both have been (pretty) elves. But this one - not Alistair's mother - turned out to be an orlaisian traitor, Maric lost the battle of West Hills and many stalwarts. This female traitor bitterly regreted, but Loghain manipulated Maric to kill(!) his love. And Maric bitterly regreted, too. - The love triangle between Maric and Rowan (Cailan's mother) and Loghain(!): Maric's bespoken bride from the cradle loved him really, but first he saw it only as an political agreement. So he took his elfin mistress. Disapointed the queen-to-be seeked (succesful) solace by Loghain, who loved her. Perhaps one of the most interesting points is the meeting of Maric and Loghain with Flemeth(!) in the Kocari Wilds. She made some eye-opening prophecies. Some prediction concerned Loghain: If Maric held him nearby, he would betray him over and over and each time even worse! 2. I will write something about the second book next time. Best regards rosvita
  3. Hi Magdalena, I hope you don't mean this ironical. The point is, many people say something like 'Well - yes, Loghain has committed some or even many crimes, BUT...' (For this reason I made a long, long list about his crimes as juridical as possible - to reveal the dimension of his betrayal.) Then normally follows something about political realist or pragmatist, just to relativise his guilt and to make his atrocities appear harmless. Let me get this straight: nowadays in real life I am completely and unconditionally against the death penalty. But as I pointed at before, in a medivial world other rules are valid. So in my opinion the real central point is the notion of atonement! The peace under law requieres Loghains death and execution. Everything else would damage the legal order, the sense of justice of all people (Fereldans in game, not us gamers), which think just and equitable. Loghain may be a tactician as brillant and cunning as no one else (I've read The Stolen Throne and The Calling), but his potential "user value" could never ever compensate the moralic damage in case of let him get away with his atrocities! In other words: his best use to the crown is his execution! Best regards rosvita P.S.: In addition, as Alistair said, the crown couldn't trust Loghain any longer, (nor could the wardens).
  4. I guess, I've seen a mod for Dragon Age on Nexus with more ravens in the game, but I cannot find it in the file lists anymore. Does anyone know, which one I mean, please?
  5. This sounds very interesting. (By the way, Riordan could have choosen every other man or woman to become a grey warden. He didn't really need to take Loghain! - right of consription -) Nevertheless in my opinion Loghain had to be punished with death penalty. In a medivial world this accumulation of crimes couldn't be atoned for by a little bit of jail... These are his felonies: (And this list is not intended to be exhaustive!!!) - conspiracy - insubordiantion - desertion - high treason against... -- the king -- the successor to the throne -- the people of Ferelden -- Ferelden - regicide (due to forbearance) - attempted assassination on the successor to the throne (indirect perpatration/ at least incitement) - usurpation of the throne - murder (joint tortfeasor of Arl Howe) -- of several persons, especially the teryn of Highever and the teryna - mass murder (of many soldiers and grey wardens, espacially their commandant, Duncan) - attempted murder (e.g. of the grey warden and his followers) - attempted poison murder (of Arl Eamon) - human trafficking/ slave trade - torture - calumny/ defamation of character (to the grey wardens) - coercion - forbidden wizardry Alistair for his part hasn't killed Loghain - let alone murdered him. But he has put Loghain to death ("gerichtet"). First of all this has been an ordeal by battle - a duel to the death, and Alistair won the day. Furthermore as the rightful king Alistair has been the top judge ("Oberster Gerichtsherr") of Ferelden. As a result by right Alistair could decide the verdict and enforce himself, too. So this only had been an act of justice. It had been no personal revenge campaign. In fact, it has been Alistair's right and duty to let justice(!) prevail.
  6. I know how to open .fsb files and to extract the .wave files inside. Now, I want to generate an own .fsb file. I heard this would be possible with a program called FMOD. I got this program, but their are several .exe files. I don't know, which one I have to use and how. I need the new .fsb file for some translation mods. I've got some translations finished (including german names for some placeables during the mouse over, the reading texts etc.) - unless these sound files. I've go the original modded english .wav files and I can generate the fitting german .wav files with the program AUDACITY and save them under the name of the english modded versions (identical string-IDs). So far, so good. (Notice: These english modded conversation lines are not under the original string-IDs of the game, but have got new numbers. Otherwise it would be easily to find the fitting german lines in the vanilla bank of the game, with the DAOTalkEditor.) But I cannot get the german .wav files "back" into the original .fsb file. For this reason I have to create a new one. How?
  7. Concerning the sound files I found some .fxe files and some .fxm files in a modcore.erf file. Now I want to have german versions of the .fxe files and the .fxm files for some translation mods. I already have got the fitting german sounds in .wav files, (they are easy to get by extrahation of the .fsb file) and I could save and export them under the english mod string IDs with Audacity.) But I need to have the fitting .fxs files and .fxm files. Then I could delete the english ones in the modcore.erf file and insert the german ones. Can I get the fitting .fxs files and .fxm files in Audacity too (and how)? Or perhaps in FMOD (and how)? Or otherwise?
  8. Hello Thandal, many thanks for your kind explanation. I am just thinking about, because I don't feel advanced enough to risk anything in the boot.ini etc. Best regards rosvita
  9. Hello Thandal, thank you for the link. Äh, I feel like a lemon, because I don't see the context. Shall I take the way of the under-link for Fallout (only for advanced people)? Regards rosvita
  10. I have got the permission of the original author. And yes, I "simply" translated the foreign mod. I don't know what the "Code" is and I don't know how to modify it. In generally I only asked, because I want to do everything correct. If I now understand correct, the nexus only wants to avoid, that someone steals a foreign mod and publishes it under his name. Right? Then I haven't got any problem.
  11. For some translation mod I need to edit the alistair_main.dlg file, but the toolset cannot open. Instead of opening I got the following error message: Editor gff40 "Out of memory" What shall I do? Any hint would be appreciated.
  12. Hello GothicWarrior, I am doing some german translations (with permission of the authors). Maybe I could give you some useful hints. I don't speak polish at all, but the method would be the same. It's a little bit of work, but it isn't nuclear physics. Of course, you would need the permission of the original mods authors. Some authors gave a kind of general permission on condition of getting the credits. Regards rosvita
  13. I think about a little new scene before entering the roof of Fort Drakon. For the purpose of this I already wrote a conversation tree. It should be voiced. For this reason I want to use some existing voice-overs for the NPC, which means Alistair, combinined with some reading lines for the female warden. So far, so good. But I don't know, how to get voice-overs in my conversation file. I've already searched in the toolset wiki, but I haven't found anything concerning espacially this issue.
  14. Hello Paul, that sounds promising. I confess I hope, we won't get a reformatio in peius, which means a disimprovement... However, I guess a survey seems to be a good starting point. In addition I like your sentence, not only to consider the 'respected user's' opinions. Godspeed and best wishes! rosvita
  15. I want to publish my very first mod on Nexus, but I'm afraid unintended to have parts of other foreign mods in it. Of course, I don't want to injure anything. What shall I do? Do I have to uninstall all foreign mods in my game, before ... - doing what? How could such a procedure influence my mod file? (It's just a translation of a foreign real mod, of course with permission of the original author.)
  16. Many thanks for your friendly hint! I'm now using "Circles Be Gone" and it seems to work for me. I've just loaded an old save to make a video - it's about the fight in the tower with an ogre before getting the torch for the beacon at Ostagar. I like it very much without ground circles. Even if I actually play, I guess it will become more interesting and ambitious to fight without seeing the positions of the enimies all at once. I don't know the other mod you suggested and its other effects. There might be some imcompabilities with other ones. I don't know. Regards rosvita
  17. There are two mods to remove the ground circles: - Circles Be Gone http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/95/? - No Ground Rings http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3483/? Someone wrote about a problem just with a rogue as his main character. My main character is a rogue too. Has anyone experiences with these two mods? Which one do you commend?
  18. Many thanks for your friendly hints. It is very kind of you to write in such an extensive manner for several times! I'm still reading the descriptions on the site you gave me the link for. I made my own translation of it and it's very interesting and I think I beginn to understand a little bit. Now I'm regarding the sub-links (and translating them for me, too). There are some concrete explanations. But I still hope for the tenth sub-link bringing something like 'take the second line of the menue point ... in the toolset and click there to use the script ... . For my purpose just misses the concrete instruction.
  19. You're right - English only is my second language. I've got two questions: I. What does the abbreviation "GW" mean? II. I'm not shure about your phrase: "_any" is considered an area (Would have thought "is considered 'as' something"), neither grammatic nor context. Concerning the two refered ways I prefer the second one. I don't want a crash or even lots of lags. So I wish to learn GDApp.
  20. I've seen a video on YouTube showing Alistair sitting on a wooden armchair with the Cousland Princess sitting on his lap. Is there any mod for this scene?
  21. I'm afraid I don't know any other programming languages. I made something with BASIC, but this was really long ago, and I even don't remember. If I understand you right, I won't have any advantages by knowing HTML. What a pity...
  22. 1. a) I only have created a module about a new item. Should I load the PRCSCR_mer_storage.GDA into that? I'have downloaded the GDApp Editor (only to my PC) (and had a look in the EXCEL version (and I know a little bit about EXCEL)). This PRCSR_mer_storage.GDA is very short and I have no idea what to do with. By the way I don't know XML, but I know HTML (I even teached HTML years ago). Looking for XML in Wikipedia I saw it looks similar to HTML. So there is still hope for me to understand...
  23. Thank you very much for your advices. 1. Camp storage: a) How to install? (DAUpdater or Override?) b) Compatibel with the Sleeping tent? c) I've only found four files by extracting the ZIP aa) image of the chests (.jpg) - no script - bb) second image of some chests (.jpg) - no script - cc) MerStorage v1.datbdata dd) PRCSCR_mer_storage.GDA How do I open cc) and dd)? (It works with the simple Editor (WordPad), but dd) is very short and cc) looks like chinese.) 2. "Adding an Item to an existing Vendor or Container": I guess the only way for me would be to 'give' it to Bodhan. Should I?
