  2. This is what I've been saying from the beginning lol. Thanks for trying to help man and like I said, your tutorial looks solid. Now it should be more clear why I wanted someone who uses Blender as I am not just looking for someone to solve the issue but hopefully be able to explain where I went wrong so I can be able to do this stuff on my own going forward. Very well then, PM it to me. and i'll have a quick look. =) Though i have to agree that it did sound like an export issue. Either way, i'll find out soon enough. :wink:
  3. Hmmm, i'm guessing those tutorials in linked in that PM didnt work out for you? So it is save for me to assume that you thried the "Export to .3ds, import .3ds into nifskope" thing? Because that's how i've been maing weapons for 2 years now.. >.> Never needed nifscipt untill recently. (Bloody vertex paint!)
  4. Most people aren't too keen on joining project that are still in their infancy. Also, posting progress screenshots, no matter how unrefined, might improve people's willingness to join. Details, details, details. Show people you have a firm grasp of what it takes to complete the project and how you envision the final result. Ergo: Show people that you have the motivation, knowledge and willpower to see this entire thing through. Don't be discouraged by the lack of reactions. Just keep working on it at a steady pace and simply try again once you've made more progress. :) I hope this doesnt come off as being a jerk. :blush:
  5. Well, if you're working with blender i can highly recommend this tutorial.on how to create a perfect break line. Keeping it playable shouldnt be too difficult, but i personally wouldnt know how to create a havoked object. (probably copy any similar vanilla item and start replacing the meshes in the nif?) Anyway, just wanted to share that info. I'm afraid i will not be able to do it for you. =( Cheers!

  7. I had a feeling you did. :tongue: Dont worry. Once the mod i´m working on gets released you´ll be swimming in shineys. =) Who knows, maybe i can even convince project lead to let me add an Inheritance easter egg. :laugh: Támerlein maybe?..... :teehee: For the time being; plenty of other stuff to do for the mod. Hope someone else picks it up in the meantime. It would make me feel bad if i snatched all nice requests. :wink:
  8. Hehe! I like! Seriously though, i've been juggling the idea to do Zar'roc as well, but i have decided that i really need to fullfill my responsibilities to another large mod i signed up for. (That and the fact that its just plain fun to work with the team!) I also found it really difficult to find a weapon that seems like a good counterpart to the Anathros. (the sword that my Brisingr is based on) If anyone does find a nice design, they might do well to post it in this topic/a new request topic. I might be able to pick it up after my current project is finished (although i estimate that'll still be at least a few months/ half a year) I'll be following this topic for now. =) Edit: Maybe one of this could complement Brisingr: If scaled up to sword size: Just throwing in some ideas. =) They're not overly crazy, while still having that "evil" and "fantasy" feel.

  10. I believe the Dragonborn DLC has a dungeon tat does exactly this. I remember having to drop a corpse into a fire pit to open a door... So let me just get this straight: It does not replace any weapontype animations? So 1-handed and 2-handed weapons still use their vanilla animations? How?!   12. Well, if you're really eager to review some mods.. I just released a new mod that contains 2 new weapons and quest-less scavenger hunt. I've got plenty of images, but no moving footage that shows off the fancy effects that i just spent my evening on creating. :ermm: So it'd be nice if the nexus knew those effects were there. ;) If you do want to review it, here's the link Just try not to spoil the location of the unique weapon. ;) (You can add the weapons using the console. Just search for them using the names "Brisingr" and "Anathros") If there's anything more you'd like to know about the mod, just toss me a question. :)

  15. Well, i was thinking about asking a friend to make an ESP for the weapon. But on the other hand, i know how he's quite busy with another large mod and might not like the distraction. In terms of obtaining the weapon, i think it is best for Brisingr to be a unique item inn the world, which you can not craft. (Scavenger hunt!/Quest!) But since i'm also including a regular version of the sword, i figured it would be nice if that one is craftable. This'll give players a bit of a choice: Go hunt and invest some time in finding the unique item, or craft a less special one right away. Best of both worlds!
  16. But i did. =] It's tinted blue just slightly. But once you hold it against the light it gives off a bright blue reflection. :wink: It's just that none of my screenshots really show it. Edit: A little visual proof: Note the gloss just above the crossguard. ;)
  17. I'll just refrain from editing my previous post to let everyone know there's goodies to be seen.... But there is a downside..... .. I just discovered that there's some errors in my normal maps... So i'll have to redo those. Other than that i just need to find a way to spawn more flames on the sword and i'll be happy with the result. So please be patient for just a bit longer.. =] Edit: Right, so ive been fiddling with the flame particles some more and would like to ask you guys for your thoughts... Take a look at this clip...... (Seems i am unable to embed it.. =( ) Now, do you guys think i should keep that effect? Or try and go for the "Bound flames" you see floating around bound weapons? Edit2: Because i would feel terrible about triple posting......I'm just hoping you guys will notice this edit.. Right, so here's the second effect i wanted to test: Which do you guys think is best? The particles (the first image in this post) or the flame mesh? (The latest image in this post) Let me know.. Because i really want to know. =] Another Edit: Both versions are done by now. Had to resort to adding smooth groups/edge splits to get the shading right. The normal map was not willing to cooperate. Now, the big question is: Which of the two will it be? The particles leave a sort of trail behind when swinging and walking, while the one with flame mesh seems less distracting. The one you choose will become Brisingr, the other will be used for another mod/my resource. The flameless version will probably be included in both the Brisingr mod and my resource. Choose wisely. :tongue: Edit: Final image dump!
  18. I will definitely make a "normal" version without fancy effects. But i'll also reserve a little breathing space for another special version. This last one will be added to a WIP mod and will not be added to my Modders resource. Might be a chance i'll add some sort of simple sheath to the flamesless one though. Edit: Just noticed i didnt answer all your questions. =[ I really dont know how to add lights to objects...wish i did! Can't blame you for being curious. :wink: Guess you're not the only one who likes edits.. =P Update time! !!!!!! Image is even larger than the previous one !!!!!!! Meh...   19. To be honest; no. I know most people prefer it when a weapon is accompanied ba a scabbard, but this will cause massive clipping issues with the effects i plan to add. So it's not because i'm lazy :tongue: I just think it will look better this way. Think this: But this time with the flames covering the entire blade. :turned:
  20. Alrighty! Here's some more shots of the current model. Note the different pommel; the spherical gem clearly visible and the claws that hold it are more akin to the outer tips of the crossguard. Any thoughts on the current model? =] Will start cleaning it up and texturing it sometime today. (if no one has any mesh related suggestions.) And in case anyone is wondering; Yes, i do intend to add the flame effects to the sword when it's done. I'm also considering adding a glow effect to the gems in the crossguard and pommel. :happy: Edit: First texture pass: Ambient occlusion. WARNING: Huge image!

  22. Ha! making me work are you? :laugh: Must be the perspective view, because it actually is a perfect sphere. But i think i can come up with another wait to support that gem. I do intend to alter the claws that hold the gem a bit. (give them a pentagonal cross-section, just like the crossguard. Possible switch to three claws instead of 4. Seems more dragon-ish to me and breaks symmetry up a bit.)

Eruanna, wasnt it? =] Probably means you just have a good taste of weapons. :laugh: I am taking a bit of artistic liberty on the pommel, because i have not been able to find some close-up shots of the one used in your image. The general idea remains the same though; an egg-shaped/spherical gem, held in place by claw-like protrusion. Like this:
  24. Maybe sharing a link to the model might convince someone to have a go at it. Even though i'm doing a similar request for someone else, i'm afraid i wont be able to add another request to my todo list. Just make sure the general concept is well defined. Things like descriptions on shape, material, properties, etc will help any modder fill in the gaps. Same for additional screen and/or sketches. Just be patient. Someone who can make this for you will come along eventually. =]
