  4. I agree with soot00, don't use the defrag(could be a big mistake) but do shut down background processes. I use it at times, but there's not a great improvement unless your using a weak system or low ram. profnewbie--new but growing
  5. Re-use the console command but use small increments until you've got it where you want it.Any setting you make using console commands is completely reversible. profnewbie--new but growing

  7. As a chrome user I'm too familiar with this issue but most times the refresh button (or hard refresh) brings it right up. The only suggestion I can make is to increase your timeout length. Profnewbie--new but growing

If your trying to install a mod that tells you where to put various files---start in your install directory,create folder(rightclick mouse on a blank space,choose new,choose folder,rename) named cookedpc(this will be where all your changes to the game will go), then just imitate the mod's structure ie: cookedpc/abilities/geralt_basic -------------for changes to player for example. The readme of the mod should tell you the structure (relative to the folder--cookedpc). Hope this helps :-) profnewbie--new but growing
  9. Go into your cookedpc/abilities/gerault_basic file and edit the line that starts #max weight. Change the min= and the max= numbers(end of line) to a carrying capacity that suits you (cheat a little or a lot). :-)

  12. Just go to your cookedpc/abilities/geralt_basic file and edit the line # Max weight <max_weight mult="false" always_random="false" min="5000" max="5000"/> I've already edited it to 5000 in this case. You can put whatever weight you want, just put the same amount in min= as you do in max=
  13. I have pretty good luck? using paint.net instead of gimp, haven't had any problems with save formats(yet) but haven't tried it on witcher yet. Just an option :-)
  14. Being new myself I would either call up both files-side by side in win7- compare lines and do a lot of copy and paste operations or web search file compare and merge utilities (there's many free ones) either way keep the lines in common and decide which to keep when different.

Hi All, Not having enough time or experience to make it myself I would like to see a 'smart mine' mod that has a type of mine that ignores the player (and maybe companions) but explodes at the approach of enemies or creatures. I think it fits with lore and atmosphere prevalent in the game and would be useful to defend campsites, favorite cache locations and the like. Just a passing idea that occurred to me while setting up an ammo cache. Hope somebody runs with it! If not, maybe pm me with a few hints about scripting it? Thanks guys profnewbie--new but growing Having been advised that nv mines already do this I apologize for taking the space and time. The only mines I've messed with were in fo3 (which do not discriminate between friend or foe) so I assumed (dangerous practice I guess) nv mines were the same. Apparently not :-)
  17. Thanks originslayer it helps a lot. I don't really like to use 3rd party programs if unneeded so changing basename sounds great. (To tell the truth-I thought basename was just the filename starting point for incremental auto-naming. Now I know that it refers to a location also makes it a lot simpler.   19. Hey All, I want to take screenshots but printscrn key doesn't work. I enabled screenshot in oblivion.default-no difference. I've tried all combos (ctrl+printscrn,alt+printscrn etc.) nothing works. Is there a way to copy scrren to clipboard built-in to oblivion? I use windows7 64bit amd x4 810 quadcore plenty of ram plenty of hdd. Please help!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   20. It's no doubt a stupid question,but,how do I go about changing the main menu background image?? Even a hint would help a newbie like me!! Thx all________I was right,stupid question. Just found dds converter--next time I'll do my homework first.
