  1. I love how Vortex makes downloading and installing mods easier for dumbasses like me to be able to install and play my games with mods without having to have a computer programmers degree. I know there are some simpler mod installs but there are mods that require to be installed in specific ways and at specific settings while modifying the game folders. That is beyond some people's understanding. With Nexus now not letting mod authors just up and delete their mods without warning and allowing users to just stick certain mods together, so if there is something that happens to their computers, they can easily just go back, reinstall and done. They won't have to worry about hunting down mods that were deleted without a reason why. If a mod author doesn't want their mod to be associated with them, instead of just deleting the mod, why not just give/sell it to someone else who is willing to do upkeep and updates for it. This way your name would be removed from it and you can keep your feelings clear. Not everyone has the talent to make mods, but we all respect mod authors for what they do.
  2. I have been playing TR2013 for a little while now, and then thought back to my Legends days when I beat that game, I found myself using the Gothic Lara skin 99% of the time. I am not good at modding what so ever, and was wondering if there is still anyone out there that could do the Goth Lara from Legends into TR2013 and through to the other games as well?
  3. I fully understand that this isn't the thread for Vortex, but since the website doesn't seem like it's going to change the looks and function from the junk we already got, I figured why not discuss this. Also since Vortex might be integrated into the site so you might be able to "shop from your phone" then when you get home, start up Vortex and it'll start the download of the mods you chose, maybe that puts it WITH the site, if that it is where it's going. All in all, integrating Vortex to the site doesn't seem like a very good idea. Might as well just say that the entire site of the nexus is going to download and install automatically throwing every mod onto your computer. People's harddrives are going to be so crammed full, they won't be able to install official updates to the games.
  4. I agree. All this hub-a-lub about how Vortex is supposed to be better, we have gotten diddly to see for ourselves. Let alone ANY info of how our mods and mod organization is going to be affected. All they have ever said is that it's better. What I want to know is HOW WILL IT BE BETTER? Is all of our mods going to have to be redownloaded, reinstalled, or is it literatly going to be a swap from one to another? There are some mods that some people have that are no longer available on the Nexus and having to redownload them will be impossible. Can we at least get a screenshot or two to see for ourselves for comparison. As a SUGGESTION, I would recommend showing off the screenshots and letting the people look and see what they like and don't like BEFORE it's thrown to the wolves. Doing Vortex like the way the website is done is just going to make people mad and they will just stop using the Nexus altogether. Personally, I want details and screenshots so I can see if I want to even use Vortex, or if I want to just skip the entire NMM/Vortex and install mods manually from now on.
  5. You want feedback? You are getting it. THE ENTIRE LAYOUT OF THE NEW SITE SHOULD BE BURNED WITH MININUKES. I can easily read the posts, and a lot of them are saying they want the OLD LOOK back. You can keep the "iPad friendlyness" of it. I personally do not see the point of making Nexus mobile friendly when you can't even play most the games that you can mod on a freakin' ipad, let alone a mobile phone. There. I'm done trying to say it as plainly as I can.
  6. You tried to access a software that is not out for anyone but the alpha testers. How exactly did you expect to find it? Why exactly do you expect to find it? The new design was made public on 24 Oct. You had time until the 15th to try it out. So far, nothing has flopped hard, and it seems you are trying to pass an opinion as facts, on both present website and future software. You would think that at least some images and/or more info was out there. For developers/designers, throwing at least some pictures or some information out there to at least tease the users would be showing some sense of pride.I was only able to find just some info about how certain SPECIFIC people get to test before the general public does. As for the new design for the site, There has been people, not including myself, who has taken the timeout to at least try it and try to like and since October, it does not resonate very well. I personally have taken almost the ENTIRE month of November to try and like the new design. The ENTIRE layout and how everything works is just slapping me in the face compared to the old design. Everything looks like it was done with MS Paint with all the design of the old changed to boxes. The layout and the design of the old design was really designed for ease of use even for newbies. They could easily just go in, set filters, and search for mods to their hearts content and not have to worry about filters not staying after backing one screen up. Unlike the new layout, while searching through the mods, the search functions ALWAYS stayed at the right hand side of the screen so you change the search parameters from ANY page. Pulling up a mod, if I want to see A picture, All I had to was click it. Once I was done, just click the pic again and it goes away. Now we have to deal with a mini Windows image viewer which pulls up ALL the pictures. While browsing, if I click on list, I get 2 rows instead of the normal 1 row. The mods no longer have a nice definition that separates the from one another. they look more like they are part of ONE big long mod. Gone are the green title card for EACH mod. Also gone are the "Search Attributes" that was set when you browsed for mods. I have certain attributes set up so when I browsed through the mods, the ones not checked will NOT show up. Look, I already sure you guys have had more than enough people complaining about how terrible the "New deign" looks, so I won't continue to hammer in the coffin nails for the dead horse. I will say this, Change just for the sake of change will lead to ruin. Want an example? Star Trek Online has made changes just for the sake of making changes just because the devs didn't like them. Now they have actually lost over HALF of their player base and the numbers are still dropping. Don't go the way of the dodo and not listen to the users. The users can either make you or break you.
  7. I have tried to see what this so-called "Vortex" looks like, and guess what.....NOTHING COMES UP. Only things that come up are a SELECT FEW will be able to alpha test it soon then alpha will be out for the public. But guess what? Those select few are going to be the ones that ALREADY like it. So the results are already biased. As for the new design, yeah it's out there now, but the majority of the people didn't even get to play around with it BEFORE you already put it in place. There was NO POLL, NO public opinion what so ever. If there was, then you would have been told from the start that the changes had been a bad idea from the start. And if Vortex is a copy of what we are getting from the "New" site design, I can tell it's going to flop hard. Instead of picking and choosing who you want to test it, put it out there for EVERYONE all at once to try. DON'T make it replace NMM at the start, but give everyone the OPTION. This way you can hear the TRUE feedback about it BEFORE it does it's thing. We may have lost the website to a junk filled, incomprehensible, unintuitive, Windows 8 copy, but we as the modders and gamers shouldn't have to lose NMM.
  8. Okay, for all the pages showing feedback, nearly every one of them are giving the feedback: "Go back to the old design". Yet, the recurring themed response to each and every one is "We are NOT going back but we still want constructive criticism." ALL 19 pages so far has been giving constructive criticism. Stop messing up what is working. It isn't the criticism you WANT to hear, but maybe it's the criticism you NEED to hear. As an edit: I prefer the LOOK of the old design. Why not just keep the LOOK of the old design and just swap the engine under the hood. That way when you do decide to SLOWLY change the design, the new one won't be so screwed up. Just throwing a new design out there and expect people to like it is never going to work. You have to gradually shift things over. As a new edit: I have been using NMM for a long while now. I have had ZERO issues with it. Minus some hiccups once or twice. But otherwise it works just as intended. It organizes and installs my mods without me having to go and mess everything up and have hundreds of different copies of my game files. And if you also plan on destroying NMM, then I'll just give up Nexus Mods forever. And please don't tell me it isn't compatible with "Vortex". NMM is probably the one thing besides the site itself which brought me to the modding community. If you remove.....sorry, "replace" NMM, then I can safely say that damn near everyone on the Nexus will leave and never come back. Trust on the interwebs is one of the hardest things to earn back after it's broken.
  9. I have tried real hard to like the new design. I can't. It is just frustrating on how unintuitive it is trying to go around looking for the mods. With the old site design, I could just get where I wanted within 1-3 clicks of the mouse. Now it's more scrolling, hunting, clicking, more scrolling. It looks like a giant page full of ads reminiscent of the web pages at the time the internet was gaining momentum. Cues should have been taken form the old design for a little face lift. Full on plastic surgery was just overkill. When I click on list for the display of results, I expected a SINGLE FILE LIST, with more descriptions of each mod, like the old site, but instead we get a double file list with little to no description besides the VERY SHORT titles. As for the images, the image pop up that fills the ENTIRE SCREEN should be burned with fire. I liked how the images from the old style just popped up with that ONE image you clicked on, and when you were done looking, you just clicked on the background and it went away. Easy peasy. Now it pops up as a microsoft image viewer. I just want to look at ONE or two images. Not the entire list of them. Really, the old style was king and was not designed to look like ad tiles. It was intuitive and very user friendly. Now it's almost cold and plain.
  10. Change just for the sake of change is never good. Change must have a reason for the change to happen. Changing a wesite to something that is basically what amounts to a tile based site with NOTHING that is as coherent as the original is not good. If they wanted live feeds showing changes, that could've been done without changing the look. It's basically the same as swapping engines in a vehicle. Old V-6 isn't giving the power, but you love the vehicle? Just swap it for a V-8. All the wiring is still the same except the engine is a bit bigger while the vehicle just keeps the original look. Right now, change is happening like Apple does iphone. Different everything except the OS is still the same. Some hardware may be missing as well. While Android changes for the better in EVERY way.
  11. The release of Vortex? If Vortex looks like what we are currently trying out, then I don't think I am going to like it either. A better choice would be to show the difference and make a poll on what people like better.
  12. I also forgot to mention that Nexus Mods isn't a social media website like facebook or twitter. It's about the modding community and the MODS. Having something that looks like a rejected Windows 8 setup isn't really the best idea I've personally seen. I do applaud the designer for trying but the idea doesn't seem fitting for the Nexus. The old layout showed what needed to be showed without the fluff, and gave SIMPLE areas to search for mods, creators, images and the like. There was no needed bells and whistles. It's like looking for a basic vehicle with standerd transmission with just power windows, locks, steering, and such without brake assist, lane departure, and every driver assist not needed. You want better drivers, have them learn in basic old school vehicles. My point is by added so much fluff and junk to the website, people will start to forget what the website was there for.
  13. Well, as I said before.....IT'S AN EYESTRAIN. Why not just have the live portion of it with the OLD design. Seriously, It's hard to do ANYTHING with this new design. I'd rather have the functions and behind the scenes stuff with the old layout.
  14. To be honest, the old design wasn't such an eyestrain. The old design had everything in it's right place, and was much better looking. This new design makes me want to quit the nexus all together. At least give us an option to keep the old layout.
  15. My first playthrough, I busted through the game and ended up siding with the Institute. All my other playthroughs, I am taking my time. I actually got a character to level 1000. My god......The difficulty just spikes. Legendaries pop out from no where and they hold nothing back. I am working on getting every settlement perfectly defended and All their happiness maxed out. Just getting tired of a settlement attack notification constantly popping up, and Preston STILL telling me a settlement needs help. Radient quests suck. But try defending my castle of a defense rating of 999. Not even the Institute lasted more than 2 minutes. Still have yet to play Far harbor. So I plan on lots of playthroughs and plenty of post games stuffs.
