  1. Currently trying out adding a better fur texture to the ponies. Not too much detail, but enough to tell which way the fur natural points and not a random blotch of pixels. The final will not be the best possible, not with the UV map that came with the model, but redoing the UV will break all compatible armor, so this is the best compromise. An in game comparison will help determine if it works or not. A major downside to this pattern is it's a pattern, you'll be able to see repeating patterns here and there. I will attempt to remove as much as possible.
  2. That has nothing to do with the ponies. It seems no one heeds my advice to stay on topic, so I'm moving on. \[T]/
  3. That is very closed minded. Lore has it's purpose, it's the canon of any world. I never said it was 'stupid' or 'old,' all I said was I don't want to hear it. I uploaded the mod so others can do something with it if they desired, not so people can object to the idea about a horse in Fallout. Those comments had nothing to do with the mod, as do these comments. Lore is not part of this topic, it's about the ponies.
  4. The original intent was to get the mod where I wanted it, the mechanics working and the models and textures ported/altered/created and ready to go, and then divide it up into packages, starting with the Mane 6 and branching out from there. I wanted to release them in sets like popular background ponies, stallions, foals, etc. but it looks like it'll just be random ponies in each package than themed ones. If you've read the starting post of this thread, I make ZERO promise that this mod will ever be completed and the reasons why - I will not be haggled. If you want the mod in it's current state you can have it along with the knowledge it may never be polished or completed. I mod for myself, no one else, I wish to share this because others might like it. If I think the mod is good enough I will stop working on it, but as you know, I don't think it is so I will continue. I will fix the template body texture/model before early release and standardize the body textures for each pony. Aside from that, anymore hardcore work on the pony models and textures would be pointless if I plan on replacing the current assets later on down the line. Script bug fixes and balance issues (the latter being largely untested) will be updated as they arise. I can deal with stupid. Just today, someone left a long winded opinion of their thoughts on horses in Fallout on my Horse Model. I told people I don't give two s**** about their Lore, or opinions on the damn horse. I promptly deleted his comment, as I do with asinine PMs from people wanting this or that from/for the ponies and me. Repeated attempts earns them a block.
  5. His name was gonzolaz or something like that. He was timid and nice when I first dealt with him, but somewhere along the line after getting his permission for the first series of ponies, he became very hostile to his OWN followers and friends. I decided it was best to continue without his work. I honestly believe he became this way after the first EQG movie. Some people become far too attached to fictional characters. So far it's 1 to 1.
  6. I don't need testers, just feedback on whether or not people would be intersted in an early release. Look at my earlier post for details. Nope. You want complicated quest lines, you're on your own. That is not what my mod is about.
  7. The dialogue is unique to each pony. It's as characteristic to the pony as it needs to be without getting cheesy and a mimicry of the show. There is nothing beyond simple commands nor will there ever be, and if someone thinks they can do a better job, they can fell free to do so - on their own. Still looking on feedback for early release of the mod.
  8. 1. Their races and assets are in the GECK and they are placed in their respective Cells for switching. They would be removed from the plugin and mod assets in the event it is uploaded early. 2. I was given permission to use and modify the Type 6 model, and any armor/clothing based on the Type 3, 5, and 6 body format will work with it. 3. It was originally intended that the player would have to arm them, but the beta testers said this made early game playing difficult with the lack of ammo. 4. A certain Gmod author has gone completely apeshit, and is very hostile toward people. I decided I was not going to bother getting his permission, but this forces me to duplicate his work on my own if I want to have those ponies in the mod. Only Sunset Shimmer is affected by this, and will be removed from the mod in the event it is uploaded early. 5. The current pony selection menu is entirely different, separated by race and sex: Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus, Alicorn(Changeling); Mare, Stallion, Filly, Colt. 6. They have no icons assigned. In the event I upload this early, they'll get the standard Pipboy Icon until I convert the art into a format the game will not flipout over. 7. I have gotten this elongated mesh bug too, and it was isolated to the ponies. I also tend to have my fingers seemingly cut off on my player model (Robert's Male). It seems the game treats 3rd party body models harshly. I think it could be related to an animation of the hands imbedded into the skeleton file. It is only a hunch, and completely unrelated to this mod. 8&9. Roger. 10. All of the ponies start off in their stables, places the player cannot physically get to. When you select one and fire them, they will go to Westside to be rehired. If you switch a pony for another, the one switched out will return to their stable. There can only be two in the Flat at any time. 11. Excellent.
  9. I got deep into Dark Souls, and decided to hold off on working on anything until I was done with it. In my down time, I looked for critiques and criticisms about my work on the pony models and textures - and took a critical look at my own work. I came away from this experience with a lot in mind about the ponies. I was not impressed in my work, nor were the others that helped me take a look at my work. I've gotten a lot of people telling me that the models/textures are fine, never giving me any real feedback, and after a while, it made me worry, so I decided to step back and take another look. I'm an amateur at best, and my skills in this area are not great to say the least. The biggest criticism I got, and have always been bothered by, that the models are just the Gmod pony models. I just take someone else's work and cut and slap it onto someone else's model. Originality is nowhere to be seen in this area, and that bothers me to no end. The mechanics of the mod are original, and I like to think that it's unique in the modding community, shifting out followers and changing perks based on who's in your party. The issues with the Gmod models are they all come textured which aren't very good, or detailed. They get the basic cartoon appearance and that's it. For this, they serve their purpose, but for Fallout, it's awful. Another criticism was that the ponies, next to humans, did not mix well. Several pointed out that the color didn't work well the texture for the body model I was using and my attempt at giving them a subtle fur texture did not work, especially when the hand and head textures were added to the mix. One person pointed out that the manes and tails didn't work in fallout, but not because of the models, again, it was the textures. They are two toned at best, and for Gmod, they serve there purpose, in Fallout, they become an eyesore, as well as causing some graphical bugs. She suggested that the models were actually fine for Fallout, It keeps the original cartoon appearance, but the textures could be given more thought to them, which leads into the biggest criticism I have of my work - reality. Ponies don't belong in Fallout, not as they are. They are unrealistic. Comparing the hair from Fallout to the Manes from Gmod and you'll see that there is a big difference. They look like toothpaste squeezed onto them, or playdough being pushed out of there head and arse. Just giving them a texture of hair will improve their look greatly, giving those lumps of playdough and toothpaste the same detail as the Fallout Hair. The head is creepy to some people - I did not get a positive thing for them. They keep too much of the Cartoon appearance to take seriously in Fallout. The eyes are the biggest factor in this. I saw if I made them smaller, they looked much more believable, more so if I worked the head to fit around the smaller eyes. I didn't get much negativity on the altered body texture, but I did get a few that said it could use much more work on getting them to look less jarring when transitioning between fur and skin. I did get a lot of applause for the mod's functionality and design, but a drawback of it's functionality is resource usage. It's not resource friendly. Another critique for the models were the assets, like the crowns and collars, again the textures are pretty basic, and could have more thought put to them. A final critique was the wings. Nothing but a color for a texture, but more than that, the Pegasus wing set isn't even believable with six pinions. Celestia's and Luna's were the only believable sets. With all of this in mind, it's both bad and good. On one end, I have to retexture - and unwrap - everything. My texturing skills are awful compared to my modelling skills, but it's a challenge I'd like to tackle and over come. On the other end, everything I've done for the code and functionality of the mod is already done, and in a state that works best, I will never have to redo it. In fact, I could release the mod as is and it's fully playable, if not complete and not in the state I want it to be in. It's been some time since I started this topic, so I'm sure there are people no longer following this, but what are your thoughts on this? Should I release this mod in it's current state, incomplete, yet fully functional; this means the functions in this mod work as intended, but things are not finished: 1.) Several Ponies are not setup as followers and have no dialogue written for them, this includes Milkyway, Nyx, and Nightmare Moon. 2.) The ponies have no specific clothing. They are nude, and it's up to you to clothe them, not like the vanilla followers. 3.) They will not have follower weapons. There is a game-engine bug that breaks the quest flag on their current weapons, allowing those weapons to be switched out when changing ponies, giving ponies the weapon of another, and leaving the other pony bereft of theirs. 4.) Several Ponies will not be available due to lack of granted permissions. Milkyway and Sunset Shimmer are the only two at the moment. 5.) The pony selection screen will be weird to use. I had planned on releasing the mod's ponies in bunches, having place holder message boxes using special code until the entire list was populated. In order not to A.) Confuse people by selecting a pony that wasn't even in the mod and not getting them, and B.) Keep from spoiling who was in the works or was a future update. Currently, my code is setup to handle everyone even though they do not exist, so the message boxes would have one or two ponies and a next button for the next list, which is not difficult to navigate, but is completely weird. 6.) None of the perks have their icons yet. I plan on using granted images from popular and gifted artist in the Fandom, and if you have been following the thread, you'd have seen a few of them, two from Egophilliac. 7.) The style of the body textures for the ponies varies greatly. Applejack still has her original texture work while Nyx has the latest style. The old ones look awful compared to the new ones. 8.) The ability to switch ponies works. 9.) The perks work and change as you change pony. 10.) The follower home is connected to the world and has a map marker to get to it quickly, but for game story purposes, you have to find it in Westside before being able to travel to it. I will add a way for the player to summon a pony that they fired if they haven't been to Westside yet. 11.) The ponies dialogue works, but is not voiced. Keep these things in mind when you think about getting the mod released in it's current state. I plan on working toward making the models look better and more believable in Fallout without losing their Cartoon origins.
  10. I'll cut the suspense. I'm not. More information is to come, but I'm far too tired right now. Don't worry, and remember: \[T]/
  11. No, women can multitask, men cannot. Not working on ponies tonight, Vinyl's mane is being tricky for the last part of it so I want to work on something different to try to figure the trick out. This is my screen tonight. At the Belfry Sol this time.
  12. God I'm bored. Actually doing pony work while invading people in Lag Souls. Come on kiddies, come into the Red Dragon's nest at the Belfry Luna. Time for the tables to turn on you.
  13. I think what happened is the artist sculpted the models, like from a lump clay. That's actually the best way to make a model - if you want super-fine detail in the mesh. A sculpted model could have ten million or more faces, Vinyl's had about eight thousand. The artist (I can't find out how made it, they weren't credited properly in the Gmod pony pack I was given permission to use) most likely used a script to reduce the poly count, but not the best one to use, and caused what was a perfect topology to reduce into a complete mess. Octavia's is the same, but I've finished her mane and remade her tail instead of using a recolor of Fluttershy's. I still have to finish Vinyl's mane and make her tail. Sunset Shimmer and Milkyway I never got permission for (the artist has completely lost it and treats his followers like s***, so I avoid him), so I have to remake their assets from scratch. Milkyway's mane is simply Rarity's modified (they have a similar style), and her tail is not even close to accurate to the O.C., so it obviously is getting redone. I've already redone Sunset Shimmer's assets with the exception of her crown. Of course, I need to color all of this.
  14. The mane is messed up is because it wasn't modeled properly.
  15. I don't have TF2, it's not my thing. I've been redoing some of the god awful meshes that came with the Gmod ponies, Vinyl Scratch's is the worse offender. It looks fine, but up close the normals get wonky and texturing/UV mapping is hindered. Her mane is complex, and it's hard to model, but I figured out a way to do it.
  16. Look! I did stuff! -Fixed bug where the wing options menu would appear after changing your race from a winged pony to a non-winged pony. -Fixed bug that would allow the player to select nevermind when asked to select wing type, which would break the wings on the player. -Add Unique Audio Space for the Pony Flat and added an Audio Marker. -Fixed the Z Fighting on the rugs in the main room. -Fixed Fluttershy's combat dialogue. Telling her to switch to ranged weapons would set her combat style to melee instead. -Gave the ponies new combat styles. They are the vanilla follower combat styles altered so the ponies will be more aggressive tactic wise. They stay in cover less, have a wider view of targets, and take more risks in melee combat. I was thinking of adding pony related traits and perks for the player. These in no way be radical or overly scripted, just things that would make sense for ponies to be able to get.
  17. I killed an undead, two-headed horse. Made me think of horses, which I love - and hate. Then I thought of the mod. Then thought about all of the crap I need to fix. F***. \[T]/
  18. The mod is stalled out right now. Dark Souls II happened and right now the ponies don't interest me much, and I'm not going to burn myself out trying to force finish something I'm not interested in. Not sure when I'll get back to it, but after Dark Souls II I probably will. I haven't had this much fun in years. If you play Dark Souls II, I'm The Red Dragon, and no, I'm not a troll that will shot the Ballista up your arse.
  19. I'd have to restore New Vegas to it's pre Fallout 3 makeover to check, but their levels are based on race, and start at 3 at the lowest, Trixie and Sunset Shimmer are the only ones that do not conform to the set standard.
  20. I'm not worried about Voice Acting, it's time to move onto another subject everyone.
  21. There are 6 or 7 heads, each and everyone would need to have Shape Keys added for head morphing. I don't have the time to do it either, though I have the skill to do so and have done so. I too had not thought about Voice Acting until he/she mentioned it. I figured if someone was bothered enough, they'd step forward to offer their voice. I don't care for show accuracy, just something that fits the character.
  22. I don't know where people get the idea that there is a download to the mod - there isn't. I'm not worried about voice acting, it's the furthest thing from my mind right now. Asking for help in this matter has been troublesome - people have gotten butthurt about it, others get clingy, and in the case of EQD, if it's not Fallout Equestria related, bugger off. So, no, no plans at all. You can get all of the information in my first post. I've been busy. I have a few folks who need help, prodilmen with a worldspace, and another member with armor (which is far easier to fix than prodilmen's issue). I've also been working on my own little project of upgraded Fallout 3 to run in New Vegas' engine. It's surprisingly easy - not that I would suggest this mind-crushing, esoteric process to others. Here is what I've gotten done before all of the work came down. -Reworked code for determining if the player has a Generic Pony in their party for the Power of Friendship perk. It no longer breaks when switching ponies. -Added redundant code to the perk system in the event that a script or the game manages to kill an in party pony. If the pony were to die in an unloaded state, their script will not run and will not set their hired status to 0, the variable used to determine if the pony is in party. -Fixed bad lighting in the Image Space for the in the Follower Home. It now has proper lighting without ENBs installed. -Added missing lights in the follower home. -Added variables to prevent the player from selecting one of the multi-state ponies (Twilight, Luna, Celestia) when they already had them in the party.
  23. Major update today, all centered around the coding of the mod and optimizing it and making it more redundant, also fixing everything I broke in the process: 4.0b -Optimized all of the scripts in the mod to reduce resource usage and speed them up. (Most of the following bug fixes are resultant of the optimization) -Fixed the wing selection message from displaying directly after Doc Mitchell telling you to walk to the vigor tester. It now waits a second to display after he walks off to the vigor tester. -Fixed a bug where the fold wings option was hidden in the initial message box. -Fixed bugged condition on dialogue regarding Twilight folding her wings. Her evolution stage was being compared incorrectly. -Fixed misplaced variable setting in GenericPonyFollowerScript that would trip the script into never setting the pony's switching day. -Fixed broken conditions that prevented the player from switching Celestia to Molestia, Twilight to Princess Twilight, and Luna(either version) and Nightmare Moon. -Fixed Global for Player's wing being folded or spread not being set to -1 when changing race, which gave the player only one choice of wings. -Fixed the Wing message window not being displayed after the initial display. -Add code for the player selecting nevermind when changing wings, it would not reset the script for the it's next usage.
  24. More updates: -Updated the heads to fix the ugly normals on the throat and added nostrils. -Added a folded version of Chrysalis' wings.
