  1. Okay so I'm not sure if there are particular mods that mess with this quest, I've disabled all my mods and I still get bugged. For some reason when entering the Catacombs, Potema's voice does not trigger and thus the metal bars never drop and I can't continue the quest. Does anyone know of a particular fix or if there is a particular mod that either causes this or fixes this? I tried googling and all I kept getting was sites full of quest guides on how to complete it. Thanks in advance guys, sorry if this was posted in the wrong place.
  2. Okay so I was just messing around with it since I just got the creation kit. What I was trying to do was add a little shock damage to the ice storm spell but the problem is whenever I load it in game, the default animation is a shock spell. I actually wanted to keep the ice storm animation (the one with the giant icy wind animation) from the original spell but just add shock damage to it. Is there a way I can do this, or does creation kit automatically change it and you can't do anything about it?
  3. Haha so true! Give me HD skins plzzz!!!! thanks  Anyway jokes aside, I'm starting to think if it has something to do with the malebody_1_msn.dds file that seems to be the problem. So with a little history, I downloaded a skin mod that just generally made the skins of the male body look cleaner. Then I remember some time after that I downloaded this tattoo mod that had armors that would leave a part of the back clear with a tattoo design so you would just see the tattoo on the bare skin of the back but still have the benefits of having an armor piece. I looked at that file and it did have it's own esp file with it's own meshes that affected the malebody_0.nif and malebody_1.nif files. I'm not sure if that's the reason though because yeah when the armor is equipped it would show those meshes but I'm editing the malebody_1.dds file found in textures that affect the male body in general so I know that I would have to unequip the tattoo armor to see the changes I've made. Unfortunately I tried just editing the textures like I did with the weapon and flattening but it didn't work :( I tried going through texture editing using the deadly serious tutorial but then I realised it was a tutorial on UV maps on game textures, and since I'm not trying to make the uv map more HD, just the actual texture itself with a more HD skin, I'm pretty sure I don't have to do anything with the malebody_1_msn.dds file, but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going to experiment some more, gosh I was so excited when I made the bow look SUPER cool as lol but skin is such a different ball game. I think I'm out of my league. ------------------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------- Okay so after making a completely weird as texture just to experiment, I'm sure there must be something else I have to edit that is over-riding the malebody_1.dds file with a different texture, which is probably from a mod that I downloaded. Now I just have to figure out what it is... EDIT AGAIN----------------------------------- Okay so with further thinking my guess now is that there must be some mesh that is using a specific texture, at least I think. I'm not sure though because when I did my first experiment I literally drew random lines all over the body and it came up in the game so maybe there's something, maybe a specific mesh, that is using a different texture for the specific part of the body I'm trying to edit. My brain is hurting lol.
  4. Firstly, thanks alot VectorPlexus for your replies, big help for real. So I'm not sure if there is a difference but I tried editing a bow today using more HD wood textures I've found and instead of "merging" I flattened like you said and it worked out great! I'm thinking there might be a difference between the two? Also, not sure if this is a problem but I have downloaded a skin mod from ages ago but I only tried editing it recently, and I'm editing the male body skins that I got from that mod. I downloaded a tutorial about textures and Nifskope so I'll see if I have more success with that. The mod I am using did give me replacement files for both textures and meshes so I'm not sure if meshes are what's needing to be edited too, but I thought since I'm not changing any 3d modeling of how everything looks, just HD skin textures it should definitely just be textures that need editing. For now I'm about to try the whole "flatten image" instead of merge and see if that's really all the difference. Sorry for being so noob, I'm really bad at learning on my own because I'm usually a better visual learner watching in person but I'm trying. Too bad I'm slow in the head lol.
  5. Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'm missing a step because I gave it a couple of tries again making sure to use the same save settings I did for the first try and same extension but it doesn't show up still. I don't know if it has something to do with layering or not but I figured it shouldn't since I merge all layers at the end when I'm done. Mind you when I do my tests I literally just draw random red paint right on top of the file where as when I try making a HD texture I start incorporating layers and selecting specific areas. Is there another way to be merging these layers together?
  6. Hey guys so there is a skin mod that I downloaded that I felt like making a simple change to but I keep running into a problem. So I have a dds plug in with my photoshop and so what I was trying to do was edit a skin mod that I downloaded which effects the malebody_1.dds file. So I open it up in photoshop and just to test it I draw random red lines all over the body and export just to see if it works. So I load skyrim and it does. So I go back and this time try actually doing what I wanted to do. I create a layer in photoshop to clipmask a picture into the male skin and then when I'm done I merge all layers. I save and export it but it doesn't show and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with meshing since I'm not changing the meshing at all, just wanting to use a more HD picture to replace the texture of the skin. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I've only just started trying to get into modding and to be honest, even after reading tutorials I'm sooo lost I'm much better at learning when I can physically watch someone do it.
