  1. Hello there, Wolannd. If you want to learn how to mod, I would suggest you visit the Elder Scrolls Alliance. There you'll find classes on many aspects of modding- among them, how to edit textures and models.
  2. Hello, I'm frustrated. You see, I'd love to be able to play one of these guys in Skyrim, rather than simply having a werewolf character. The difference being, the Wolven are a true beast race and quite intelligent. Please don't misunderstand; I'm not asking anyone to convert Sabregirl's resources to Skyrim. I only ask for a lupine race with no nude textures, in the tradition of the Wolven. Thanks for listening, Tigersong.
  3. What is the procedure for uninstalling MGE? Never mind, found the instructions. :)
  4. Yes, I'm playing Oblivion. I have a Soqui character I'm starting to warm to. (If you haven't, take a look at the Soqui race.) It's true- this is the most colorful title in the series. Funnily enough, I'm on that very road right now...
  5. Or a cloud cat! Read Airborn by Kenneth Oppel to see what this one's talking about.
  6. How about Sovvm? From what this one has read, the aforementioned mod has always used brand-new assets.
  7. That isn't the problem, though. The blue of those spells is hard on this one's eyes; he wants one with the green color of Starlight.
  8. To be purr-fectly honest, this one can't stand the light spells in Skyrim. He much prefers Oblivion's Starlight. Could some kind soul recreate the effect, and insturct this one on how to create a new spell?
  9. Haven't the patience to learn how to mod, you say? Maybe a visit to the Alliance will change your mind...
  10. ...This seems to be one of those things Everyone Knows But I Don't. What is a GPU- the same thing as a graphics card? And what's the difference between an intigrated and a dedicated GPU?
  11. If I see one more quest where the developers randomly said, "Let's set this in a draugr crypt," I might cry. Honestly, the ancient Nords must have done something besides venerate the dragons and entomb their dead. Yes, going into crypts to learn Shouts and progress in the main quest is fine. But to set every other quest (yes, I'm exaggerating) in said tombs is a bit much.
  12. I have to admit, I'm one of those gamers who sees exploration as its own reward. However, what isn't fun is being attacked by every bear, wolf and sabre cat in Skyrim. Does someone know of any existing mods that make these creatures less likely to attack, or even more likely to flee when at low health? If there are none, can someone tell me how to make such a mod?
  13. Choose your skills carefully. If you don't like hauling around a million potions, be sure to pick Restoration as a major skill. And guilds in Morrowind have skill/attribute requirements, so look at some references and try to think about your factions ahead of time.
  14. In terms of the "you are there" factor, it is! I don't mean to criticize the sequels or the company, but it's obvious that Morrowind had the most time put into it. The politics, factions, and individual characters are well realized. There are hardly any namless NPC's with the notable exception of the Imperial guards. Each quest was carefully thought out and executed- including those ho-hum "fetch this many of this item" quests. And speaking of, the book-style journal is one of my favorite parts of Morrowind despite the awkwardness of having to page through it. (Having the index feature of the Game of the Year edition helps a lot in that respect.) I don't claim that the combat is the best, yet it is a welcome break from the hyper-fast, gore-heavy fighting of modern games. (If you don't like blood, don't play Daggerfall. Just saying.) As for skills, it would nice to have a title that strikes a balance between Morrowind's and Oblivion's systems- skill won't always succeed but they won't fail 50 to 90% of the time.
  15. Ah, finally some clearing up of the whole Nirn, Tamriel business! Now those who aren't students of mythology have a frame of reference- in short, thank you, Creslin.
  16. As everyone knows, the bow is the only ranged weapon in Oblivion. I'd like to know whether it's possible to make a mod that adds in boomerangs, complete with throwing and returning animations. The other thing is whether this would require the Script Extender to work. Thanks in advance, Tigersong
  17. Yes, by all means! Morrowind is still alive. It may require some adjustments to play at its best on modern PC's but it's worth it. The game offers you a strange world with unearthly creatures, plants and landscapes but isn't too unfamiliar.
  18. One thing I'd like to add. If you need to know anything about how to do a certain aspect of modding, have a look at the Elder Scrolls Alliance. Specifically, the Enclave.
  19. Then too, there [are/i] Christian gamers, myself including myself, who like their characters/armor/clothing to be modest. (And if I were a female warrior, I would want to know my armor offered the most protection possible. Ever heard of Joan of Arc?)
  20. One think you can do in Oblivion is change the .ini to allow for quick leveling. Open the file in Notepad, press Control-F and search for "instantlevelup". Change the 0 to a 1. It'll still say you should rest and meditate, but the level-up screen appears immediately.
  21. A while ago I moved Morrowind from Program Files (x86) to C:\Morrowind. I changed the registry entry and everything worked well. Now I've unisntalled the copy from x86 and have run into a problem. Namely, the game has no registry entry and clicking "Uninstall" brings me to the setup screen. What should I do?
  22. I know this is possible, somehow. What do I do to make an NPC in one place disappear, to be replaced by a similar one in a different location? What I want is for the character to leave Seyda Neen on completion of a quest and reappear in Pelagiad.
  23. Not to mention those three words I want to yell at Todd Howard or whomever: Staves as weapons!
  24. What Raza says is true- there aren't any herbivores. And, think about it- there are no juvenile animals either. No Nix-hound pups, tiny rats or guar youngsters.
